Welcome!

Hello, Karankhajuria22, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Darylgolden! Thank you for your contributions. You might think that Wikipedia is near completion and doesn't need your help, but that's not true! Wikipedia may seem to be running smoothly on the surface, but we still have many backlogs and problems that need attention, and I would like to thank you so much for helping out. Here are some pages to guide you!

Wikipedia requires editors who can perform different roles - what would you like to do?
Green tickY Would you like to help to correct the spelling and grammar of some pages? Here's a list of articles you can copyedit! Here's a guide of how to do that.
Green tickY Would you like to update and increase the accuracy of some of our pages? Here's a list of outdated articles! Remember to cite your sources (This is a helpful guide to get you started).
Green tickY Are you a writer and would like to lengthen a few of our existing articles? This is a list of short articles.
Green tickY Are you an academic and would like to improve one of our articles? Choose a WikiProject to join here! But remember to cite academic sources or peer reviewed papers (since we cannot verify whether an editor is really an academic or not).
Red XN Are you a company owner, employee, person, or writer paid to promote pages about you/your client's page or company? Please note that we are not a means of self-promotion. See our guidelines on autobiographies, notability and conflict of interest.
I still need more help!
This wiki markup thing is too confusing to me! Don't fret, we have a user-friendly text editor known as VisualEditor. Simply click here scroll down, tick the check box next to VisualEditor, and click save. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or click here to ask for help here on your talk page and a volunteer will visit you here shortly. Again, welcome! Suggestions regarding IIT Raipur

Sorry, I have created one more article as IIT Raipur. I had followed the [template] ( Earlier it was IIT Raipur instead of IIT Bhilai, but now have updated it to IIT Bhilai ) and continued to create IIT Raipur. I missed out on verifying if it existed as IIT Bhilai. Please - Any suggestion for what to do about the extra article IIT Raipur. (talk) 10:30, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IIT Raipur has been deleted. Thank you.(talk) 11:54, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:IIT Bhilai Temporary Campus.png

Thanks for uploading File:IIT Bhilai Temporary Campus.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 09:42, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:IIITS Logo.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:IIITS Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:42, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:58, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Jason image.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Jason image.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 23:04, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

February 2017

Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that in this edit to Indian Institute of Information Technology, Srirangam, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:34, 21 February 2017 (UTC) [reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Karankhajuria22. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. NeilN talk to me 21:00, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

February 2017

Information icon Hello. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. This means that editors do not own articles, including ones they create, and should respect the work of their fellow contributors. If you create or edit an article, remember that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. NeilN talk to me 21:00, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove information from articles, as you did to Indian Institute of Information Technology, Srirangam. Wikipedia is not censored, and content is not removed on the sole grounds of perceived offensiveness. Please discuss this issue on the article's talk page to reach consensus rather than continuing to remove the disputed material. If the content in question involves images, you also have the option to configure Wikipedia to hide the images that you may find offensive. Thank you. NeilN talk to me 23:00, 21 February 2017 (UTC) @User:NeilN got your point.I don't remove content from articles.This is not "perceived offensiveness".It is my duty to correct my mistake. I had added a disputed or baseless information which i removed on realization.[reply]

A tag has been placed on The Indian Institutes of Information Technology Bill, 2014 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.prsindia.org/uploads/media/IIIT%20bill/Bill%20Summary-%20IIIT.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. S!lVER M.
