WOLF-TV Fox 56 is the FOX affiliate for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton DMA. It is licensed to Hazleton, and shares studios in Plains Township, near Wilkes-Barre, with sister station and WB/UPN affiliate WSWB. It broadcasts its analog signal on channel 56 and digital signal on channel 45. WOLF shares its website with WSWB. WOLF also has a repeater in Clarks Summit on channel 24 with the call letters W24DB. WOLF's transmitter is located in Mountaintop, Pennsylvania.

WQMY, channel 53, in Williamsport, is currently a repeater for WSWB. However, it is to become its own station, with an affiliation with My Network TV. With the station not able to be picked up in the Scranton area, WQMY will be carried on a digital sub-channel of WOLF.

History

Channel 56 Hazleton (now WOLF-TV) signed on February 15, 1982 as WERF-TV. It changed its calls to WWLF-TV in 1984, and quickly became a satellite of WOLF-TV Scranton, then on channel 38. In 1986, Channel 38 became one of the Fox Network's charter affiliates. When channel 38 dropped Fox for The WB in 1998, WWLF-TV changed it's call sign to WOLF-TV and remained a Fox affiliate.

It has a few original programs like The FOX56 High School Sports Show, The Great Outdoors and The Pulse. WOLF-TV also airs a WNEP-produced 10 p.m. newscast called Fox 56 News at 10 anchored by Paola Giangiacomo Monday through Friday and by Jon Meyer on weekends. Past WOLF-TV staff include Paul Grippi and Jill Garret.

Outside of FOX programing, the schedule is mostly general entertainment, with infomercials late at night.
