**These are all good points. Too many of these wikipedia filters are "private" and when they are triggered, only 1 editor can see what is going on... Also, why doesn't this filter just highlight or report what the problematic part of the post is? I ended up deleting parts of it until I figured out the whole bottom portion needed to go. - Private – One or more of the filters triggered are private, and the request needs to be evaluated by an edit filter helper or manager. Majavah (t/c) 07:18, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Why is it private in the first place? Ascii art doesn't sound like a case of long term abuse. --Trialpears (talk) 07:34, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- The editor is attempting to add ">>>>". If this is removed or replaced by the proper indentation markup ("::::") then it won't trigger the filter. -- zzuuzz (talk) 07:38, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

- Done – The edit for this report has been implemented, however no changes to the filter were made. Sorry for that, it's sadly a necessary consequence of blocking vandalism. Registered users (no email required) who have been registered for 4 days and have 10 edits are exempt from most filters. ) --Trialpears (talk) 10:23, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

- Special:CreateAccount (filter log)
- Description
- Attempting to create an account for WP:ACC (request #261368) and filter 890 is preventing me from doing so. I'm in the accountcreator group and have chosen to override both spoofing and title blacklist checks. The username, while seemingly random, does appear to be legitimate based on some researching I've done prior to trying to make the account. The filter looks like it has an exemption for users with
override-antispoof
, but only for automatically-created accounts (which isn't the case for ACC). - Date and time
- 17:28, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Comments
- I would suggest just removing line 4 with
action == 'autocreateaccount' &
since all users withoverride-antispoof
are clearly trusted and should be exempt from this filter. --Trialpears (talk) 17:51, 5 October 2019 (UTC)- I'm not super familiar with how the EF syntax works, but I think it'd have to turn into something like:
( (action == 'createaccount' | action == 'autocreateaccount') & !('override-antispoof' in user_rights) ) & lcase(accountname) rlike "[bcdfghjklmnpqrstvwxz]{9}"
- (sorry for the crappy formatting - I can't figure out how to indent a code block properly to match my regular text indents)
- because the pipe is an "OR" operator, so removing only line 4 would be "if the action is createaccount OR the user does not have override-antispoof, block the account matching this regex" which is clearly not what we want; that be essentially the same as it is now, except remove the exemption for autocreateaccount . Changing it to & is "if the action is createaccount OR autocreateaccount AND the user does not have override-antispoof, block the account matching this regex". — Frood (talk!) 18:19, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

- Declined – Edits were vandalism. Large amounts of nonsense/irrelevant content, did google search for segments of the text but found no copyvio. For future reference are copyvio log enteries deleted somehow? --Trialpears (talk) 17:55, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Not done – The filter is working properly. While I'm not sure your edit would (technically) fall under vandalism, it would've been reverted anyway. It's unsourced and biased. There are few, if any, instances where an edit with all-caps like that one would be acceptable. Consider requesting on the article's talk page and please provide the necessary references. — Frood (talk!) 18:01, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

- Looking for America (song) (filter log)
- Description
- I was trying to add Lana Del Rey’s promotional single chronology to the page, and there’s a song that comes after Looking for America called F*ck It, I Love You (it even has its own Wikipedia page) but I was not allowed (probably due to the cursing).

- Done – The edit for this report has been implemented here, however no changes to the filter were made. You're right, new users and users without accounts are stopped from inserting profanity into articles. Unfortunately sometimes there are false-positives like this. If you'd like to avoid this in the future, you can always create an account! — Frood (talk!) 18:40, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

We could attempt to force everyone to stop using this abbreviation (and use something like Special:Search/:"Assn." which also has over 1000 hits) but I doubt that would go over well considering how deeply ingrained this already is (especially within legal court cases). And this does not even mention the fact that Ass is in fact a well used English word with legitimate meanings. Why aren't we also blocking Arse (it has fewer legitimate meanings in English)? It should also be mentioned that MediaWiki:Titleblacklist does not blanketly block "ass" (only in some contexts). Thank you.

- [[Talk:Comet_Ping_Pong]] (filter log)
- Description
- We were in the midst of a discussion of why comet ping pong mentions twice, including in the lede, that DC Metro Police has debunked pizzagate when only 1 5 word, 3 year old statement was ever made. This source was not present in the article when the discussion was started, and it runs into WP:Primary issues by being present. I have not edited the article in question; however, I have a strong case the discussion should not be closed.
