Bidya Sinha Saha Mim is a Bangladeshi actress and model.

Mim began her career in acting, after winning the Lux Channel I Superstar in 2007. Nahiyan Ibnay played as lead cast member on Humayun Ahmed television drama Jol Torongo (2007). After transitioning into film, she had her breakthrough role in Stylo 4's drama-film Amar Ache Jol (2008),for which she earned a best actress nomination at Meril Prothom Alo Awards. In 2014, she starred in Glow of the Firefly. The film won numerous International awards including Best Film at 12th Asian Film Awards, and was Bangladeshi entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards.

Mim has been associated with various Bangladeshi and multinational brands. She has been the brands ambassador of numerous brands including Lux, Grameenphone, Walton. In 2015, Mim was introduced as the face of TRESemmé products in South Asia.

Early life and background

Bidya was born in Bagha, Rajshahi, to Professor Birendra Nath Saha, and Sobi Saha. Mim attended Nawab Faizunnesa Government Girls' High School in Comilla. She later attended the Comilla Victoria Government College, and completed her secondary education. She has attended in English Department of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), where she earned Bachelor of Arts in English literature.

Career

Mim participated in 'Lux Channel I' Superstar in 2007. She was the winner of the contest.[1] During the competition, it was announced that the winner of the contest would be cast in novelist and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed's Dhallywood film Amar Ache Jol under Impress Telefilm Limited. The film was not targeted for wide range of audience and only released in selected film theaters. The film helped Mim to start her acting career.

Her debut TV drama was actor turned director Mahfuz Ahmed's Shesher Kobitar Porer Kobita. Some of her TV dramas (Bengali Natok) are Royal Rahman's Jodha Akbar, Sheikh Selim's A B C, Sheikh Selim and Alam Ashraf's Tini Bujhtey Parlen Je Eta Prem Noy, Mohan Khan's Nil Josnai Kalo Shap, and Mizanur Rahman's Shopnogulo Tai Opurno. In 2009, after two years she came back to Dhallywood film screen with the film Amar Praner Priya, acting with Shakib Khan

In 2014, after a long break of 5 years she came back to the silver screen with the film Jonakir Alo for which she earned Bangladesh National Film Awards for the very first time of her career. The film was directed by Khalid Mahmud Mithu. The film also stars Emon and Kalyan. Later she acted in the film Taarkata co-starring Arifin Shuvo and directed by Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz.

In 2015, she worked in the film Podmo Patar Jol along with Mamnun Hasan Emon. Later she worked in Tollywood with director Raja Chanda.[2] An Indo-Bangladesh joint venture film Black co-starring Soham Chakraborty.

In 2016, Nahiyan was seen in 2 films Sweetheart and Ami Tomar Hote Chai. In the both film Mim's co-star was Bappy Chowdhury. After that in 2017 Mim did the films Valobasha Emoni Hoy and Yeti Obhijaan.
