Mickey's House of Villains is a film created by Disney. It is a movie adaptation of the television show Disney's House of Mouse, starring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Daisy Duck and practically every villain to appear in an animated film created by the Disney company. It was released on video September 3, 2002 in the USA.
Plot
Template:Spoiler It's Halloween at the House of Mouse, and there's a lot of villains showing up tonight (or so Minnie claims). But Jafar has a trick in store for the usual gang, but the villains have to wait until midnight, which is when he will unleash his trick.
After a series of cartoons, Jafar, along with Captain Hook, Scar, Cruella de Vil, Ursula, and Hades take over the house by way of a musical number, and all the other villains in the house join in. In the process they trap most of the heroes in the kitchen, throw Mickey and the others out into the street, and change the House's name to the House of Villains, hence the movie's title. (In spite of the name change, though, the only few differences are darker lighting and mist hovering on the ground.)
Mickey and the rest in turn try to return things to normal, but the villains keep throwing them out. Afterwards, Mickey dresses in his famous sorcerer outfit from Fantasia and challenges Jafar to a magical duel. Mickey loses, but then Aladdin saves the day by giving Mickey the lamp with which to trap Jafar (due to an animator's goof, it actually resembles Genie's lamp rather than Jafar's). Mickey sucks Jafar into said lamp, while the rest of the villains flee like cowards, restoring the House to normal. Template:Endspoiler
Cartoons
Like the show, the film shows several Disney cartoons. In fact, these shorts make up more of the movie than the actual plot with the villains. However, all their title cards are edited out.
Among them, three of the shorts are classic ones:
- Trick or Treat (1952)
- Lonesome Ghosts (1937)
- ''Donald Duck and the Gorilla (1945)
The other five shorts were all originally broadcast on Mickey Mouse Works in 1999.
- Mickey's Mechanical House
- How to Haunt a House
- Dance of the Goofys
- Donald's Halloween Scare
- Hansel and Gretel
Trivia
Featured villains
Besides the main villains mentioned in the synopsis, the following Disney antagonists make appearances (in the order they appear during the song):
- The Hitch-hiking Ghosts from The Haunted Mansion
- Gaston (Beauty and the Beast)
- Chernabog (Fantasia)
- Big Bad Wolf
- Anastasia and Drizella (Cinderella)
- Lucifer the Cat (Cinderella)
- Pete
- The Fates (Hercules)
- The Pirates (Muppet Treasure Island)
- The Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland)
- Kaa (The Jungle Book)
- Si and Am (Lady and the Tramp)
- Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)
- The Headless Horseman (The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad)
- Pain and Panic (Hercules)
- Shenzi, Banzai and Ed (The Lion King)
- Horace and Jasper (101 Dalmatians)
- Stromboli (Pinocchio)
- The Lonesome Ghosts
- Mad Madam Mim (The Sword in the Stone)
- Prince John (Robin Hood)
Curiously, the Hyenas from The Lion King make an appearance early on, but Scar does not appear himself and even though Kaa from the Jungle Book makes an appearance, Shere Khan doesn't make an appearance either. Madam Medusa of The Rescuers is also absent, even though a clip of her could be seen in the trailer for this film.
Miscellaneous
- This film is not to be confused with the episode "Pete's House of Villains".
- Animation at the beginning of the film (the sequence of Mickey's Halloween jokes) is recycled from the series episode "House Ghosts".
- The human boy who appears in the "Dance of the Goofys" segment bares a strange resemblance to Loud Kiddington from Warner Bros.' Histeria!
- Goof: Captain Hook grabs Mickey by the collar at the beginning of the song, but when he sings the line "Every guest gets to the point!", Mickey is nowhere to be seen.
- When Kaa the snake sings his line in the villains song his tongue is drawn like a humans not a snakes.
- In the short "Donald's halloween scare" when the three nephews are running from Donald in disguise huey(in Red) is in front and Louie (in green) grabs dewey(in Blue) by the trousers of his costume but in the next shot it is Louie(green) who is pulling his trousers up not Dewey.
- Shortly before the battle between Mickey and Jafar, a sequence shows all of the villains slowly looking over to Mickey's location. This mimics the Rite of Spring segment in Fantasia, where all of the dinosaurs look towards one direction to see the T-Rex.
