Section makes no sense

The section "Berlin in the Cold War" claims that:

"The construction of the Berlin Wall also initiated the Berlin Blockade which saw the USSR, in June 1948, cut off resources entering the western half of Berlin^[1] (Van Tonder 2017). In response to this, the US flew cargo plans with resources over the Berlin Wall to sustain the city.^[1]"

This is impossible and makes no sense. The Berlin Wall was built in 1961, so how can it initiate events in 1948?

How can the Berlin wall have caused a blockade and airlift 13 years before it was built?

How did American cargo planes in 1948 fly over the Berlin wall that wasn't there yet? Did they have time travel?
