MGH Group

Established in 1992, MGH Group is a Singapore head-quartered Bangladeshi conglomerate operating in multiple industries and 19 different countries. MGH operates in Supply Chain Solutions, Travel & Hospitality, Food & Beverage Chain, Media & Entertainment, Express Delivery and On-Demand Transportation. Furthermore it also represents Ocean Carriers, Airlines & GDS. [1]

Now head-quartered out of Singapore, MGH owns operations across Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Mauritius, Qatar, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Germany and China.[2]

History

1992-1996

Established in 1992, MGH began its journey with contract logistics by shipping Gillette products specifically for the Bangladeshi market. Thereafter, growing its business by working with companies like P&G, Carrefour, and C&A. [3]

1996-2000

In 1996, it partnered with international travel company Travel port to provide distribution, technology, payment solutions for the travel and tourism industry in Bangladesh. It also acquired a large share in a Bangladeshi private commercial bank named Eastern Bank Ltd. Diversifying into the banking industry. [4]

2000-2006

It proceeded to grow even further partnering up with giants such as Air Arabia, Renault, and Turkish Airlines since the year 2000. Finlays was another project partenered by the conglomerate which is now the second largest tea producer in Bangladesh contributing 23% to the country’s annual production.[5]

2006-2010

In 2006, Radio Foorti, another subsidiary of MGH Group, first went live in Dhaka. It is now the largest FM Radio Channel in Bangladesh and operates in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Mymensingh, Cox's Bazar, Bogra and Noakhali.[6].

2020

During the coronavirus pandemic, MGH Group played a key part in transporting medical supplies to India in conjunction with SpiceJet.[7] "MGH Group, the Global Cargo GSA of SpiceJet, has been actively involved and has supported SpiceJet's freighter flights from Singapore to Chennai and Bengaluru carrying crucial medical supplies while extending full support to the airline's regular cargo operations to Hanoi and Bangkok."- Manufacturing Today[8]
