The Prime Minister is an appointed position that is by convention given to the leader of the political party with the greatest number of seats in the lower house, and whose continued prime minister-ship is predecated on maintaining the 'confidence' of parliament (i.e support), something Mr Whitlam had de-facto lost in the Senate (a directly elected body) Tag: Visual edit

  • 00:4300:43, 15 March 2021 diff hist +45 1901 Australian federal election The Australian flag wasnt flown until 3rd September 1901, over 5 months after this election, thus the flag should not appear in the info box. I have replaced it with the union jack as this is what would have been used at the time, and is in line with the wikipedia page on the 1867 Canadian election, which has similar circumstances. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to have no flag at all, but i can't figure out how to remove it entirely. Tag: Visual edit

  • 12:0012:00, 31 December 2020 diff hist −336 20th century No, it is NOT universally agreed upon. I just asked a room of 4 people and they all said 2000 was the start of the 21st century. Remember this is a SUBJECTIVE matter, there is nothing SPECIAL about the year in which a century begins, it is not up to you to define the start of a century contrary to popular opinion. That being said, the view that the century starts in the year ending in 01, is widespread enough for it to be mentioned. Tags: Undo Reverted
