After the marriage, Virat tells Sai not to expect any love from him and the latter understands. However, Virat falls deeply in love with Sai but is unable to express his feelings before her due to strange pre marriage circumstances while Sai has only a soft corner for Virat which she is herself unaware of and always reminds Virat that their marriage is just a deal and she will leave him once she becomes a doctor which hurts Virat's sentiments.

Plot

Virat loses Patralekha's phone number in an accident and later after finding her number Virat tried to call her but Patralekha misunderstands him and blocks his phone number and decides to move on, and incidentally gets engaged to Virat's cousin, Samrat. Virat comes to know that Patralekha agreed to marry his brother. Patralekha meets Virat during her wedding ceremony and begs him to marry her but Virat refuses to break his cousin's marriage. Later during Samrat and Patralekha's wedding ceremony, Virat in an emotional state promises that he will be her friend forever and he will never let any woman into his heart and life.

Patralekha decides to marry Samrat to stay close to Virat as the cousins live in the same house. Pakhi after her marriage with Samrat, confesses her love for Virat on phone but Virat advises her to love her husband. Samrat accidentally listens her conversations with Virat. A heartbroken Samrat decides to leave the house.

In Gadchiroli, Kamal takes a bullet shot from a local goon, Jagthap while saving Virat. Virat promises a dying Kamal he will take care of Sai. Sai accuses Virat for her father's death. Devastated, Sai tries to kill herself but gets saved by Virat. The villagers request Virat to marry Sai. Sai rejects the proposal but Virat decides to marry Sai to take care of her. He tells Sai of his promise to Pakhi and Sai tells him that she will not expect anything from him as a husband.

During Holi celebrations, Sai helps Virat's cousin, Devyani, reunite with her husband Pulkit and child Harini for which she leaves Chavan Niwas and returns to Gadchiroli. When Virat comes to know about the truth, he vows to take Sai back to his house, Virat leaves for Gadchiroli and apologizes for not understanding her. At first, Sai does not forgive Virat, but when Virat gets shot in one of his mission, they have an emotional reconciliation in the hospital.

Production

Development

The filming of the series began in September 2020.[3] Mainly filmed in Mumbai, some initial sequences were shot at Nashik.[4]

In mid-March 2021, the filming was halted for a few days when Neil Bhatt and a crew member tested positive for COVID-19 virus and the upcoming track was changed.[5]

On 13 April 2021, the chief minister of Maharashtra announced a curfew from 15 April. On 16 and 17 April, the team moved their entire set to Goa for a few weeks until a confirmation from the Government of Maharashtra to continue shooting in Mumbai.[6]

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, chief minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray announced that all shows’ shooting must halt within all parts of urban and rural Maharashtra. Hence, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin producers moved their entire set to Goa and were permitted by the government to only shoot indoors, inside their bio-bubble.[7] Everything proceeded as planned, but in early May 2021 the producers shot a scene at Goa Fort, violating the regulations.[8] Later Maharashtra Government allowed shooting to begin so the cast and crew are back in Mumbai Film City.

Release

The first promo of the series was released on 12 September 2020 featuring the leads Ayesha Singh and Neil Bhatt.[9] The promo released on 1 October 2020 featured Veteran actress Rekha promoting the series.[10] The following promo released before premiere featured Deepika Singh in her character Sandhya Rathi from Diya Aur Baati Hum to promote the series.[11]

On 4 August 2021, veteran actress, Rekha, once again made an appearance in a teaser promoting the upcoming track of Sairat's outdoor trip as well as Samrat's return (which is a huge turning point in the plot) in the series.[12][13]
