Grindhouse is a 2007 film expected to be released in the United States on April 6, 2007. The film is presented as a double feature of two full-length segments, one being a zombie film written and directed by Robert Rodriguez, and the other being a slasher film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, with trailers advertising fake films preceding each segment. The filmmakers invoke the term grindhouse, and apply several touches such as a simulated worn out look to the film, to be taken as a literal exercise in recreating an actual period grindhouse film.[citation needed]
Faux trailers
Between the two segments will be trailers advertising fake films. In an interview with Danny Trejo, the actor said that he will be in a fake trailer for a movie called They Call Him Machete, obviously a reference to Trejo's character of the same name in Rodriguez' Spy Kids series. Trejo's other characters in Rodriguez movies have also had names similar to knives, such as Razor Charlie in From Dusk Till Dawn.[1] According to Fangoria, Rob Zombie is shooting a faux trailer called Werewolf Women of the S.S., featuring Marilyn Manson as Fu Manchu, Udo Kier as SS officer Franz Hess, and Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, and Sybil Danning as SS officers/sisters Eva and Gretchen Krupp. Eli Roth's contribution (in addition to an onscreen cameo in Death Proof) will be a promo for the slasher opus Thanksgiving. Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright is also directing a trailer, although the title and subject have not been released.[2]
Confirmed actors
It has been confirmed that Kurt Russell will be playing the part of a slasher named Stuntman Mike in Death Proof. Rosario Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio also have roles in the film.[3] Freddy Rodriguez has also been confirmed has an actor in the movie.[4] At the 2006 Scream Awards on Spike TV, Tarantino and Rodriguez showed random footage from Grindhouse which confirmed that Tom Savini has a lead role in Planet Terror. The Internet Movie Database has confirmed Naveen Andrews of ABC's Lost, Rosario Dawson, Rose McGowan, Michael Parks, Justin Timberlake, Fergie, and Kurt Russell. Quentin Tarantino attempted to cast both Kal Penn[5] and Sylvester Stallone[6] in Death Proof, but both were unable to work due to prior commitments.
Musical score
Rodriguez revealed at Comic-Con 2006 that inspiration for his score came from music composed by John Carpenter. Rodriguez said that during the filming of Planet Terror, Carpenter's music was often played on set.[7]

The girls hang out together and have a good time until a psychotic killer named Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) begins to stalk them.[8]
