Speedy deletion nomination of Anyvan

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Anyvan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Pol430 (talk) 15:03, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Anyvan

[edit]

Hello Tompey, this is a message from an automated bot to inform you that the page you created on December 2 2010, Anyvan, has been marked for speedy deletion by User:Snowy123456 (note: page has no mainspace links, and 22 edits). This has been done because the page is a blatant advert that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article (see CSD). If you think the tag was placed in error, please add "{{hangon}}" to the page text, and edit the talk page to explain why the page should not be deleted. If you have a question about this bot, please ask it at User talk:SDPatrolBot II. If you have a question for the user who tagged the article, see User talk:Snowy123456. A tag has been placed on Golgenie, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Re: Goldgenie

[edit]

Re your message: I have removed the copy of your proposed article that you put into my talk page as it was not appropriate for it to be there. Instead, if you wish to work on a draft copy of an article, you should create the draft in your user space at, for example, User:Tompey/Goldgenie.

While the proposed copy is better than the version of the article that was deleted (it was clearly created by somebody with a connection to the company for marketing purposes), it still does not really meet the notability guidelines for companies. The provided references are either not substantial, more about the company founder instead of the company, invalid, or not independent of the company. You need locate additional references for the company. All mentions of celebrities and connections to other companies must include proper references to back up those claims. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 01:24, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re your message: The article still needs extensive work. None of the references you provided establish the company's notability as they are either advertising (like the Groupon link) and inappropriate to use or mention the company only in passing. The references that are just listing of businesses doesn't establish notability either. You need to find references where the content is mainly about the company itself. You state the the company has been mentioned in several magazines and newspapers, but you did not provide references for that. Those articles are more likely to establish the company's notability, but it is hard to say without knowing the content of the article. I recommend that you follow Pol430's advice and either submit the article to Wikipedia:Articles for creation or Wikipedia:Requests for feedback. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:53, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Re your message: I see that you already copied the draft article into main space article. I still question whether you have enough references to establish the company's notability, but I will defer to the community to decide that. The deleted article was pure advertising and it was for the same exact company. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:26, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Goldgenie

[edit]

Hi, as requested I have cleaned the article up a bit. I would recommend that you use the article creation wizard at WP:Articles for creation. Alternatively you could just create the page at Goldgenie or Goldgenie.com; however, I would suggest that following the article wizard carefully will mean that the article is less likely to be deleted again. Speedy deletion nomination of Anyvan

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Anyvan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 23:32, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Anyvan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable per WP:WEB

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 01:54, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tom, I noticed that Anyvan and Goldgenie had features that indicated promotional editing. I have a potential conflict of interest, so I am passing the info on to another editor for judgment, but I wanted to give you a notification first. I think that at a minimum the page User:Tompey should be blanked because it is solely a version of the Goldgenie article. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia Terms of Use have changed last month and now require disclosure of any paid editing. Frieda Beamy (talk) 16:30, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

it should indeed be blanked, that's standard procedure. Please see my edits to goldgenie. You would do well to add any refs to substantial stories about it the magazines you mentioned, or remove mention of them. Now se what you can do on Anyvan. I'll be back to check in a few days. I call your attention to WP:COI. We do not have a rule prohibiting paid editing, but it is our experience that most paid editing tends to be overly promotional, so it is necessary to be careful, for promotionalism is not permitted here. One convenient rule is that if it sounds like what you would write on a company website or on a pres release, , it's not what you should write on WP.
You may continue to remove uncited customer complaints and the like. But if they are cited to a published source, do not remove them yourself, but ask for assistance. See WP:Requested edit. We do not permit whitewashing.
If you need any advice or assistance, ask me on my talk page. DGG ( talk ) 20:22, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
