Religion

Does he qualify for the categories American Roman Catholics and Converts to Roman Catholicism (or not, because he had not been baptised)? Werdnawerdna (talk) 13:42, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

January 2010

Hello! I've been performing a massive rework of this article, as it is in dire need of reliably cited content. Anyone else interested, please help by adding referenced material to the article so that it can be improved.

In researching the history of the page, in appears that Shawcross' real-life daughter, Margaret Deming of Brooklyn, N.Y., (she gives this in the edit summary) made some minor edits here, and provided the family picture that I moved from the infobox to the lower section. If she is watching: I mean you or your family no disrespect for moving the image in favor of the mug shot, but I felt that this was necessary out of respect for the victims and their families. All information I enter will be reliably sourced, and I've been removing out-and-out incorrect material in favor of sourced content. Happy editing! Doc9871 (talk) 19:08, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chronological error

The Katherine English interview is stated to have occurred in 2003, yet the sample heard in Cannibal Corpse's album "Tomb of the Mutilated" is from 1992. Incorrect date quoted from Olsen (1993)?Guitarboy666 (talk) 02:39, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The reference to Olsen only truly supports the part about him "refusing to discuss..." about Jack Blake - the 2003 interview date was already here when I added that reference. The article needs improvement, and if a reference for the date of the interview can be added, it would certainly help. Cheers :> Doc talk 08:37, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling correction

Corrected spelling of Normandie Apartment (incorrectly spelled Normandy), where Shawcross once lived. For reference see http://rocwiki.org/Normandie_Brownstone. I actually lived in this building the same time as Shawcross (it is a big building so, no, I never met him). Jango Davis (talk) 18:24, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good - the reference called it "Normandy", but you would probably know better if you lived there! Cheers... Doc talk 17:41, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Normandie Apartment and Olsen citation

I have been doing some research into the question of whether Shawcross lived at the Normandie Apartment, as I lived there myself in 1988. At first, some reports I read put Shawcross at the Normandie in 1987 or 1988. When I read the Wikipedia article which says Shawcross lived in Apartment 316 at the Normandie, and nowhere else (citing Misbegotten Son by Jack Olsen, page 324), my interest was peaked because in 1988 I lived at the Normandie in Apartment 328. However, I recently got the Olsen book and there is no mention of Shawcross living in Apartment 316 at the Normandie, Instead, it says Shawcross was FIRST located in room 314 of the Cadillac Hotel on Chesnut Ave. Shawcross, according to Olsen, LATER moved 241 Alexander Street, which is actually right next door to the Normandie at 253 Alexander St (despite the difference in numbers the buildings are next door to each other, verified by consulting Google Maps).

As an aside, my mother lived in the small town of Delhi NY while Shawcross was briefly there before getting run out of town.

So, my question is should I go ahead and update the reference regarding the Normandie? Clearly the citation itself is incorrect, but unless the Wikipedia editor has a copy of the book him or herself, then it is really only my word against the previous contributor. Another thought is that Olsen may have corrected or updated this entry in a later edition of the book (I have the Oct. 1993 edition) Any advice on whether to update this reference? Jango Davis (talk) 01:25, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I added the original reference to page 224 of Olsen (not 324)[1], and it had nothing at all to do with Normandie apartments. That reference only backs up that his parole officer had him relocated to Rochester in late June of 1987. Anything else in that sentence was added later by others and is not supported by p.224 of Olsen (I have the hardcover 1993 version); and you should definitely correct the reference. You are absolutely free to make any correct and useful improvements to the article at any time! Perhaps another sentence should be created referring to where he lived entirely - you can write it and cite it, and it will remain. Cheers :> Doc talk 04:39, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sexual Abuse as Child

I wanted to write this here so someone who is an experienced wiki-editor can correct - from shawcross' own mouth during interview with a serial killer he claims his mother used to perform oral sex on him, and then they had intercourse at the age of 14 before running away from home. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:2C3:867F:F10:19BC:2BE3:ED46:5BE9 (talk) 14:13, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was interested about Addicted To Vaginal Skin[2] by Cannibal Corpse[3] intro. As album wiki page states voice on this recording belongs to Arthur Shadowcross. Same time there is talk about it only on metal pages so it may be myth and could not be confirmed correctly. Anyone could disprove this legend? Or maybe prove this voice over for extending this article here? Urtabajev (talk) 08:21, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

convictions vs suspicions

wasn't Shawcross credited with more murders than 11? I thought it was believed that his murder count was something like 26, but they could only convict on 11. I have no source on this, it's just a question. 2601:603:5380:4610:5183:55D7:7F51:43CC (talk) 19:04, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
