Prostate cancer has affected the lives of many men yet unlike breast cancer in women, is virtually unmentioned by the media. Robert Goulet was a spokesperson for prostate cancer awareness and fact should be included in his bio. The following is an article written by Matthew Schmitz, M.D.:

Goulet was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1993 following a routine physical exam prior to the start of filming for a movie. During the digital rectal exam, his physician detected an abnormality and recommended a prostate biopsy. The biopsy came back positive and his diagnosis of prostate cancer was confirmed.

Goulet had no problems with urinating, pain, or any other symptoms prior to his diagnosis.

Within weeks, Goulet had chosen surgery (radical prostatectomy) for treatment of his prostate cancer.

Years later, while in Indiana to promote prostate cancer awareness, Goulet recounted that, within three weeks of his surgery, he was back on tour with the musical Camelot. His greatest fear at that point was urinary incontinence, especially on-stage. Luckily, this common side effect of surgery did not ultimately affect Goulet.

"Stanley Applebaum"

Are you sure he moved to Canada when he was three months old? The CBC website says he was in his early adolescence when he moved with his mother to Alberta. And the mention in this article that she was Jewish: the website says she was second-generation Franco-American. She could still have been Jewish, but it seems unlikely. Perhaps a revision of "facts" due here.Flake11 —Preceding comment was added at 12:56, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What about this so-called "real name" which was made up by him? Why is there no mention of this moniker? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.227.245.226 (talk) 04:44, August 20, 2007 (UTC)

His website, robertgoulet.com, said that name was a joke. sam22789 —Preceding comment was added at 03:32, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I saw nothing about his cabaret career, lounge acts, Vegas. That paid the bills, I would imagine. Some fan out there must be able to flesh in that side of his career. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ppilot (talkcontribs) 05:40, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citizenship ----why?

The intro says Goulet spent his career in the United States and later took permanent residence there and became an American citizen. Why would he do this if he was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts as the next paragraph states? Very confusing, and needs explanation. Further point, can you become an American citizen if you already are one? Kaiwhakahaere (talk) 02:22, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Or, had he formally taken Canadian citizenship when living there and later decided he wanted to be American again?Kaiwhakahaere (talk) 17:58, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He was never a Canadian citizen. He was born an American citizen and remained one his entire life. The person who wrote that he "became" an American citizen really has no business posting anything, as his "information" is nonsensical.(Yakofujimato (talk) 07:24, 23 August 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Robert was A Candian Citizen and only went ot the US because he was not able to further his career in Canada. He did not have to become and American Citizen he was one by birth. He was also a Canadian Citizen through his father. He had the best of both Worlds. Come and go to either Country he wanted too. He also had a residence he maintained in Montreal,Canada.

So whomever is supplying you with your info has got it all wrong! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.66.243.108 (talk) 21:52, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because no one reads the edit summaries, just a short note to bring this discussion with regards this image to the attention of editors here. Thanks.KTo288 (talk) 17:11, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There should really be a small mention of Will Ferrell playing him on SNL. It is what brought Goulet back into the national consciousness. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.104.108.3 (talk) 08:29, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary image

Is there any reason for this image to be in the article? It's a bad Polaroid that looks like a fan's souvenir. It isn't referenced in the copy and adds nothing to the page. Tom Reedy (talk) 16:28, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Press Release

muddled statement

His first non-singing role was in Honeymoon Hotel (1964), but it was not until a cameo appearance as "Himself", a singer in Louis Malle's film, Atlantic City (1980).

Can anyone figure out what this is trying to say? What was "not until"?

I found
https://mygympartneramonkey.fandom.com/wiki/Robert_Goulet
which looks like the same article, but it includes the phrase "that Goulet was given critical acclaim."
So, now what? Just copy the piece that seems to have gotten lost when one or more paragraphs were copied?

Formative years

The article claims he lived in the USA till (after?) he was 13. It then makes the awkward claim he went on to spend his "formative years" in Canada. I don't know of ANY child development authority who claims that personality and behavior aren't largely FIXED by age 13. Aside from that error, the term has no clear meaning - just how long did he reside there? Calendar are effective tools, I suggest the editors make use of one.40.142.183.146 (talk) 22:01, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
