Background

Encantadia is a television series created by GMA Network in 2005, starring Filipino actresses Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, Karylle and Diana Zubiri. The show had two follow-ups, Etheria (2005-2006) and Encantadia: Pag-Ibig Hanggang Wakas (2006), featuring the same lead cast. In 2016, the series was rebooted starring Filipino actresses Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia and Sanya Lopez.[4][5]

The spin-off was announced on December 31, 2021, slated for a 2022 release[6]

Production

The series will be written by Suzette Doctolero, who wrote the previous Encantadia series and will be directed by the same director, Mark A. Reyes with creative director, RJ Nuevas. Aside from Doctolero, former ABS-CBN's experienced screenwriter Ricky Lee, and writers Anna Aleta Nadela, Jake Somera, former ABS-CBN writer Ays de Guzman and program manager Ali Nokom-Dedicatoria are also a part of the production team.[7][8] Since 2023, Umali has been sharing training videos of moves that can be adapted for the show. She also stated that she takes this project seriously, particularly when it comes to her role training. In the series, she had to perform certain action scenes. The actress compared her preparation for this series to that of a Marvel movie.[9]The series started filming on October 2023 using Bolt-X Camera Set Up, the same robotic cameras used for Voltes V Legacy.[10]

Teaser

The first image tease for the series was released on July 23, 2023 at the Comic-Con held at San Diego, California.[2][8] Director Reyes shared the news on social media site Instagram by posting a photo of Bianca Umali in costume.[8] At that time, Umali was not yet confirmed for any role in the said series until October 23, 2023 wherein she was announced via 24 Oras as "Terra", the daughter of Sang'gre Danaya.[3]

Casting

Umali was rumored to be the main cast for the stated series in early 2023, until her image was included in a teaser photo that was released at Comic-Con in California, USA. On October 23, 2023, Umali was verified as Terra on GMA Network's news show 24Oras.[11]On October 27, 2023, Kelvin Miranda was announced as Adamus, Faith da Silva as Amarra, and Angel Guardian as Deia via the same news station. The whole cast will be revealed on November 3, 2023.
