A lot of unsubstantiated claims about race and class here... most city parks (uptown and otherwise) decayed in the 1970s, and not because of white flight but instead a general decline in city services during the period of fiscal crisis and mismanagement. I've rewritten it with a less vitriolic tone, and fewer assertions, in the most recent change. 128.59.100.63 13:52, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
As it stands, I think the rewrite is too much of a white wash. The history I inculded is what makes this park significant-- otherwise, I don't see the point of the article. Why you removed the bits about graffiti and the present state of the park when all of that can be proven through photos and the times article I linked to is beyond me... I'm pretty annoyed but I'm going to think things through before making any changes-- It's like saying that the schools in rich white neighborhoods are the same as the schools in poor non-white neighborhoods-- or saying the court system treats black men the same way it treats white men. What happened to this park is a fact. It cannnot be compared with anything that happened south of 110th street. This isn't just a result of the fiscal crisis. Race and class play a huge role. Let's not hide from the ugly things in our past OK? futurebird 15:40, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
High Bridge Park vs. Highbridge Park
[edit]High Bridge Park or Highbridge Park? What´s the exact name of the park? Should be consistent... --Pilettes (talk) 21:31, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- Just for the record: The bridge is "High Bridge"; the water tower is "High Bridge Water Tower"; the park is "Highbridge Park" (as signed by the NYC Parks Dept); the play center in the park is "Highbridge Play Center"; and the neighborhood in the Bronx is "Highbridge, Bronx". No consistency between them, but that's what's in use. BMK (talk) 20:22, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
Orphaned references in Highbridge Park
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Highbridge Park's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 20:13, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
