Age inconsistency

[edit]

If she was born in 1899 and died in 1978, wouldn't that make her 79 when she died and not 88? Or am I missing something? -PlasmaDragon (talk) 01:14, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Loss of American citizenship?

[edit]

Under the heading "Personal life", the first sentence begins "Schmidt was born on February 6, 1899, in Xenia, Ohio." However, the second paragraph states "Schmidt met Yasuo Kuniyoshi in 1917 while studying at the League. When they married two years later Schmidt's parents cut her off from the family and formally disowned her, causing her to lose American citizenship." (emphasis added) This is nonsensical. The Fourteenth Amendment, ratified in 1868, established citizenship by birth. She was born in the US (40 years later), therefore she was de jure an American citizen. There was nothing her parents could do to change that status. Can someone please reconcile this? Bricology (talk) 21:13, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
