Did you know... that Robert M. Bond, a lieutenant general in the USAF and decorated American veteran of the Vietnam War, was killed in a 1984 crash in Nevada while flying a Soviet-built MiG-23?

The majority of the discussion surrounding Bond's death uses the book Red Eagles: America's Secret MiGs as a source.

As written, the Wiki article states that Bond visited Tonopah and flew with the 4477th TES Red Eagles. A supporting source for this statement is not given, and this version of accounts runs counter to the Red Eagle book.

The Red Eagles book clearly states that Bond's fatal mishap occurred when he visited Groom Lake and flew with the 6513th Test Squadron Red Hats. The Red Eagles book directly quotes a pilot on the matter (p.239-240). FJPhotography (talk) 11:28, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The reason is because there where two squadrons involved. His squadron, and the squadron he was borrowing the aircraft from. 70.196.192.46 (talk) 12:18, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
