The main source here is an article that anyone reasonably familiar with the history of India will recognise as exceptionally partisan. Yes, Wikipedia describes it as 'the classuc nationalist position' but it is not obvious why we should have that instead of say 'the classic imperialist position'. What we really want here is the truth. Is there any real evidence for such claims as 'The British collector would secretly call the Hindu Pandit, pay him money, and tell him to speak against Muslims, and similarly he would secretly call the Maulvi, pay him money, and tell him to speak against Hindus.' Are there letters, transcripts, reports etc of this sort thing or any other solid evidence of deliberate divide and rule policy? LastDodo (talk) 20:54, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
