Can someone please tell us how to pronounce his last name???[edit]

The correct pronunciation is CAW-pets-key. (Short but stressed first syllable.) The last 4 letters are pronounced in the same way as in the name of the greatest hockey player of all time, Wayne Gretzky, so it's mystifying that anyone should get the pronuncation wrong. (Particularly bothersome in the case of Marek Židlický.) -cký in all its spelling varieties is a common ending among Slavic surnames. --Faterson (talk) 19:39, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
