Question

[edit]

Why is there an "Investigation of potential copyright issue" sign of this page? What exactly is being investigated?GypsyMonster123 (talk) 18:38, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you read the template it suggests that the content was copied from here [1] Theroadislong (talk) 19:23, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

observations

[edit]

This article lacks of a lot.

1. his (short-)movies/TV-movies Clowns in the Hood, Krumped and Rize aren't mentioned - or are mentioned in an unsatisfying manner;

2. the article should feature (at least one) selected photograph(s) by him; and

3. there should be a picture of LaChapelle added to the article. LIllIi 23:42, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Be Bold. Crumbsucker 01:04, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oddity: it says he directed Rihanna's Disturbia when other sources (i.e the page for disturbia say it was directed by Anthony Mandler?

4. For one of the world's most famous/prolific/inovative photographer's living today this wikipedia entry is pretty awful.

date of birth?

[edit]

This article lists it as 1963. IMDB says it's 1963. His own site says 1969. I'd guess this article took it from the IMDB, which is more likely to be incorrect. Unless he's deliberately lying about his age on his own site, which is always possible. I'm changing it to 1969 unless someone can give a more definitive source.--duncan 21:22, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sounds reasonable to me. SteveHopson 23:18, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I suspect the information on his own site is wrong. Whether it is wrong by error or intentionally wrong doesn't matter. Since he seems to have caught up on his high school diploma at the North Carolina School of the Arts at the age of 18 in 1981 this would rather indicate 1981-18=1963 as his date of birth (Sources: general timeline and alumni listing of ncsa; there are several more pages stating this information)
Taking that the other way, 1981 - 1969 = 12 as the age he graduated the NCSA, which doesn't seem right! --duncan 21:31, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • That's so weired, since even his Myspace, which was created like a month ago, says he's 37 years old, making him born in 1969. I wonder why he would really want to seem 3 years younger. And holler, first post in a talk page!! : ))) Let's see if I can sign right... LMC vs U2 08:14, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Folks, I went to Junior High school with him, and he was the same age I was, and I was born in 1963!! Yes, he's lying about being born in 1969...why would that surprise anyone that someone in the arts industry would shave years off their age? For more evidence, remember that he worked as a busboy at Studio 54, which CLOSED in 1986, which would have made him 17 at the VERY oldest, but he says he worked there BEFORE finishing high school in 1981, which would have made him TWELVE when he worked there. Change his DOB back to 1963, please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kmpintj (talkcontribs) 00:42, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

At least one contributor to this article appears to have a close personal or professional connection to the topic, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to propose changes on the talk page (i.e., here). You can attract the attention of other editors by putting {{request edit}} (exactly so, with the curly parentheses) at the beginning of your request, or by clicking the link on the lowest yellow notice above. Requests that are not supported by independent reliable sources are unlikely to be accepted.

Please also note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:06, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

At least one editor with an apparent conflict of interest has made direct (and promotional) edits to the article since I posted this. It seems reasonable to ask: Montana95, what exactly is your connection to LaChapelle? Whatever the reply, I suggest that patently COI edits to the article be from now on immediately reverted without regard to their merit or accuracy. Perhaps, with a concerted joint effort by non-connected editors, we could then turn this into something resembling an encyclopaedic article? Missing exhibitions, or unexplained choice of the listed ones

[edit]

The current version of the page (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=David_LaChapelle&oldid=1145261442) lists only 9 exhibitions, while his personal site lists almost a hundred (https://www.davidlachapelle.com/davidlachapelle-exhibition).

Should the missing ones be added, or a rationale for picking specific ones be explained (in the page itself), or the section be deleted entirely..?

The page as it stands make it seem that a new exhibition is a lot more remarkable than it really is.. Gabr2304 (talk) 14:28, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
