He spent the next twelve years toiling in relative obscurity, painting beer cans, satellite dishes, and other things that he found "mind-numbingly boring". In 1990, when an agent in New York chewed him out for being hospitalized, he started to plot his escape. This is the offending part. Although I remember these details to be truw from an interview with Mr Lockwood in Dragon Magazine, I don't think it's put in an encyclopedic way.
