Restored 2004

[edit]

Accordng to BBC news, the "Samjhauta (Friendship) Express, which runs across the Wagah crossing point in the Punjab, was restored in January 2004 after a two-year suspension". See: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/4726558.stm next to last paragraph. User:wfeidt

rake?

[edit]

Could rake, in this context, be explained or linked? I'm familiar with trains (or so I thought), have ridden on them, etc. but am not familiar with this term.

Same here, I'm also confused. Rake doesn't seem to list this usage. Pimlottc 09:05, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll 3rd that, i couldnt figure it out either,

"The entire ensemble of engine and wagons." [1]. Was new to me. --Shirt58 22:48, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
More: [2]. Apparently '[a] formation of coupled coaches or cars that makes up a train (minus the loco) is called a rake; the same as a 'consist' or 'cut' of cars in US terminology.'--Shirt58 10:44, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I want to change it, but I can't figure out if it's the engines and the passenger cars or just the passenger cars that are being referred to. It's a crazy diplomatic relationship so I don't want to guess the obvious (that the loco and the cars move together). --Martinship 09:17, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently it's also a British Rail term.--Shirt58 12:39, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
