143 (a colloquial term for I Love You) is the upcoming seventh studio album by American singer Katy Perry. It is set to be released on September 20, 2024, through Capitol Records. Its release will coincide with her show at Rock in Rio.

Background and release

In December 2021, Perry collaborated with Swedish producer Alesso for the single "When I'm Gone", with the singer also beginning her concert residency Play at the Resorts World Las Vegas. The residency, which grossed over $46.4 million an received critical acclaim, concluded in November 2023.[1] In August 2023, Perry confirmed she was working on new material from a "place of love" during a interview with Good Morning America.[2] Afterwards, in February 2024, she made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and announced her exit from the American Idol judges' panel following the conclusion of the twenty-second season, wanting to "go out and feel that pulse to my own beat" and release new music after being "in the studio for a while".[3] In June 2024, Rolling Stone reported that Perry "reconnected" with various music producers who worked on her third studio album Teenage Dream (2010), including Max Martin, Stargate and Dr. Luke.[4]

Release and promotion

The singer unveiled the cover artwork, title and release date of 143 via her web store.[5] 143 is scheduled to be released in several formats, including a purple vinyl with alternative cover, silver vinyl and cassette.
