The Dance Floor Dynamite

John Prats (born February 14, 1984 in Manila, Philippines) (age 23) is a Filipino actor, dancer, TV host, image model/endorser, (former) band drummer and now entrepreneur. He started as a child star way back year 1992 and has been 14 years in the entertainment industry now (2006). He is tagged as The Prince of Dance and Dancefloor Dynamite in Philippines. He is the eldest brother of actress Camille Prats. He became the person who is in Smart Buddy LAHATxt 35 when he was 22.

Prats is a member of ABS-CBN's elite circle of homegrown talents properly named Star Magic.

1992

• Launched as one of the pioneer artists of ABS-CBN Talent Center. He and younger sister Camille Prats starred in ABS-CBN's now-defunct kiddie gag show Ang TV as their launching pad in showbusiness.

1993

Movie

• First movie is a comedy flick Pulis Patola under Seiko Films in a supporting role.

TV Appearances

• Appeared in ABS-CBN's popular educational TV show Sineskwela.
• Still in Ang TV as one of the "Ang TV Kids".

1994

• Played support in the comedy flick Eat All You Can under Seiko Films and was also in the drama-romance movie Muntik Na Kitang Minahal under Star Cinema.

1995

TV Appearances

• He was part of ABS-CBN's Sunday afternoon cinenovela Familia Zaragoza.
• He was still included in the relaunching of "Ang TV" which was then called Kaybol.

Movies

• His first starring role was the action-adventure film Batang X under Regal Films, where he played the character Kidlat (Kiko Arsenal) as one of the kiddie superheroes.
• Played support in the 2nd sequel of his 1993 movie Pulis Patola 2.
• One of the kids in the regal Film's movie Rollerboys.

1996

• Also appeared in his first TV program's movie version Ang TV (The Movie): The Adarna Adventure under Star Cinema.

1997

• He was still a mainstay of the Kaybol that ended this year.

1998

Relaunched

• Was relaunched in ASAP alongside with fellow child actors Carlo Aquino and Stefano Mori as a trio called JCS (J for John, C for Carlo and S for Stefano). The trio's first project together was to host all Monday episodes of Cyberkada, ABS-CBN's first teen-lifestyle magazine show aired weekdays.

1999

JCS: The Band

• The JCS (collective name of John, Carlo and Stefano) was named as "Artist of the Month" (January) in the morning talk show Today with Kris Aquino.
• JCS was packaged into a three-man-band. John on the drums, Carlo on the lead guitar and Stefano on the bass guitar. They first recorded a song for their TV show's theme song G-mik.

TV Appearances

• One of the six lead stars in the teen-oriented TV show G-mik where he played the character, Yuan.
• Cyberkada ended this year.

Recognition

• He was nominated at Star Awards for TV (October) in the category Best Actor in a Single Performance for Maalaala Mo Kaya episode, "Kape".
• He was the only boy to be included in the roster of Most Handsome and Prettiest Faces of the Year.

2000

Discography

• The JCS band launched their self-titled debut album (under Star Records) in ASAP. Later earned a Gold Record Award after the hit of their carrier single, "Nang Makilala Ka".
• ABS-CBN Talent Center and Sultana Entertainment Enterprises (one of the Prats' family businesses) held a year-long concert series of the G-mik cast which was called G-mik Nation!: The G-mik! National Concert Tour in different areas within the Philippines.
• The JCS band recorded a Christmas song entitled I Love You Na Lang (Sa Pasko) as part of the Star Records' Christmas Album: "Di Ba't Pasko'y Pag-ibig?"

Modeling/Endorsements

• He was one of the image models for the ABS-CBN's first clothing line - Star Magic Props together with John Lloyd Cruz, Sarah Christophers, Heart Evangelista among others.
• He did a TV commercial for a snack brand Regent Cheese balls alongside Carlo Aquino and Stefano Mori.

TV Appearances

• G-mik was relauched with a new director Connie S.A. Macatuno, new twists on the flow of the story and with additional cast including the newcomer Heart Evangelista who became John Prats loveteam-mate in the show.
• He did five Maalaala Mo Kaya episodes for this year alone.

• He played "Nico" in Star Cinema's Father's Day Presentation, Daddy O! Baby O! (playdate: June). Played a part of Star Cinema's entry for Metro Manila Film Fest, Tanging Yaman (playdate: December).

• Nominated in the category Best Drama Performance by an Actor in Asian TV Awards (December) in "Maalaala Mo Kaya" for his episodes, "Kape", "Sinehan" and "Kalesa".
• John Prats was included in Yes! Magazine's 100 Scene Stealers of the Year.

2001

Modeling/Endorsements

• He invaded the commercial market by being the image model and endorser of Hawk Bags - the leading local bags supplier. He also got the "Bench Baby Spot" as the youngest in the roster of celebrity models in Bench - the leading clothing line in the Philippines.

TV Appearances

• Played Aga Mulach's younger brother in the Saturday primetime sitcom Da Body En Da Guard (premiered March) and was later relaunched with a new title Da Pilya En Da Pilot (premiered December) and ended the next year.

Discography

• The JCS band recorded their second G-mik theme song, "Bagong Kabataan" and was included in the compilation album: "Teleserye Theme Songs".

Movies

• Played Aga Muhlach's younger brother in the comedy-romance movie Narinig Mo Na Ba Ang L8est? (playdate: April).
• Played a remarkable role in the youth-oriented/barkada flick, Trip (playdate: November) opposite Heart Evangelista.

2002

TV Appearances

• G-mik ended but he was later on casted in the sitcom Whattamen (starting May).
• John and Heart were featured in one of ABS-CBN Station ID's entitled "Umulan, Umaraw".
• John and Heart were officially part of the Sunday musical show ASAP (starting October).
• John and Heart headlined the youth-oriented TV program Berks (premiered November).

Movies

• One of the lead stars who played as an illegitimate son in the movie Jologs wherein he garnered good acting reviews from film critics.

Discography

• Recorded a song together with Philippines' fastest rapper Gloc 9 which was entitled "Masama Yan" as one of the cuts in the official soundtrack of the movie Jologs.

Commercial Endorsements

• He did a television commercial for Hawk Bags first shown at the month of May.
• One of the endorsers of the noodle brand Tekki Yakiudon alongside Heart Evangelista and Carlo Aquino where they had a television commercial and print ads in broadsheets.

2003

• John and Heart had series of television commercials as endorsers of the new toothpaste brand Close-Up Lemon Mint.

• John and Heart won the Most Popular Loveteam of RP Movies in "Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, 33rd Box-Office King and Queen Awards".
• They were also the Celebrity Endorsers of the Year in the "Circle Of 1O Image Models Search".
• John was nominated as Best Actor in a Single Performance for his "Maalaala Mo Kaya" episode "Ferry Boat" at the 17th PMPC Star Awards for TV.

2005

The Prince of Dance

• He has a new showbiz title: "The Prince of Dance" for his dancing prowess evident in ASAP and other musical-variety shows in ABS-CBN.

Career Move

• Got a new co-manager Arnold Vegafria (former GMA-7 insider/staff) around January or February. John is now formally under the ALV (Arnold L. Vegafria) Circuit with sister Camille Prats.
• He signed up a 9-picture contract under Regal Films. First movie included in the contract is Happily Ever After.

• He's one of the formidable judges of the reality-based dance competition Stardance: The Search for the Next Dance Idol (for the month of February only).
• His first time to do a television guesting outside his network, in GMA-7's Vic Sotto-starrer sitcom Daddydidodu as Maxene Magalona's love interest (aired February).
• Became a mainstay host of the Sunday youth-oriented musical variety show ASAP Fanatic (starting April) with an alternate title of Fanatic All-Star. He also hosted his own segment Clash Room where young artists from Star Magic have head-on dance showdowns every week.
• He was casted in the family sitcom My Juan and Only playing the character Henry (premiered June).

• Starred in the fantasy-romance trilogy Happily Ever After with leading lady Maxene Magalona in their episode "Playboy Kuba" (opened in theaters: June).

2006

TV Appearances

• He was one of the 14 housemates of the phenomenal hit reality-based TV show Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition (from February 5 - April 1). He was tagged as the Dancefloor Dynamite and won the 2nd big placer (1st runner-up) and took home 500,000 pesos for himself and another half-million to his chosen beneficiary, National Children's Hospital.
• After the PBB Celebrity Edition, he was back hosting and performing in ASAP every Sunday (starting April).
• Landed as a Studio 23 VJ as he introduces primetime shows in Studio 23 (started April).
• Became one of Sarah Geronimo's leading men in the sineserye, Bituing Walang Ningning, a TV remake of the movie with the same title. He played Gary, the band drummer, musical director and band manager (premiered May).
• Starred in the naughty-sitcom, Aalog-Alog with fellow Pinoy Big Brother housemates from different seasons/editions (premiered July).
• Became a regular performer (dance numbers) in the family game show Wowowee every Friday.
• Will be part of the light-comedy-romantic soap opera, Crazy For You with Toni Gonzaga and Luis Manzano. World launch on September 11.
• ASAP Fanatic reformatted into Fanatic Banda Republic but was absorbed by its sister show and became a segment. Most of the remaining host became regular performers for another ASAP segment called Full Circle.

Movies

• Topbilled the gay-themed flick, Manay Po!. John's second gay portrayal now as a flamboyant gay.
• John will co-star Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado in the big-budgeted special effects action-adventure movie, Super Noypi. He will be one of the six superheroes with mutant powers in the movie. This is an entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival this coming 25th of December.

Recognition

• Nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 54th FAMAS Awards for "Ako Legal Wife: Mano Po 4?!".

Magazines

• He is one of the Top 10 Cosmo Bachelors of 2006. They are featured in the September 2006 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine.

John: Young Entrepreneur

• Now a young businessman as he and his dad Dondie Prats are business partners in their advertising agency - Ad Gateway Incorporated after he graduated Business Management in Thames International Business School last year.
