Hi Agnte. I'd be happy to help out with your efforts covering the Melbourne gangland killings. I do have a fair bit of knowledge on the topic that has yet to surface here at Wikipedia but my busy lifestyle is keeping me away from sharing it all in a timely manner. Your start is fantastic, and gives us all a great foundation to lay the rest of the story down. My expertise is really on the prior era, moreso the 80's and 90's of Australian crime, however I do try to keep up to date. I'm sure between us and any other editors with knowledge on the events can come up with something which lays out the entire confusing story for all to understand. Oh. and welcome to Wikipedia. The more local editors the better. :) Cheers. -- Longhair | Talk 00:08, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
Common Law templates
The image on Template:CrimLaw is also found on about 1/2 dozen other Common Law templates. I'll look into it this afternoon. Thanks for the tip! BDAbramson T 17:49, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
Jackson heights pic
Hi, can you help me out figure out the proper tag for Image:Jackson Heights 2.jpg? I'm not sure exactly which one to use. I took the photo myself around May 2005. Thanks- --Jleon 19:35, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
Image speedies
Thanks a million for picking out possible speedy delete candidates from among the 9000 unsourced images. Just a minor point, but it would help if you could add the relevant date to {{nosource}} when you tag for speedy (that should have been done by the editor who added {{nosource}}, but there you go...). Otherwise, keep up the good work! Physchim62 (talk) 08:06, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
- Also, please don't mark images as speedy unless the uploader have actually been notified that his image lacks a source/license on his talk page. Many people forget to do this when applying the {{no source}} template in the first place. Thue | talk 15:44, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
- I'm using my discretion there... A lot of images have been uploaded by users who are no longer active. And a lot of the time theyve been warned about this with other images theyve uploaded and done nothing... so if this is the case, I've not bothered with them. Also, If the images *isnt* a blatant copyvio then I usually put a message on the article talk page. The templates Ive been using are at User:Agnte/ImageCleanups Agnte 15:51, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
- I am perfectly willing to speedy images if the uploader has been asked about other images and have not acted, or in very obvious cases. But in cases that are not completely clear-cut like Image:Jeremiah morrow bridge1.jpg you should post a message on the uploader talk page before marking speedy. Thue | talk 16:02, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
- Cool, no problems. Agnte 16:07, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

The picture is fair use but I dont know to put on picture that note after it is already uploaded. Luka Jačov 21:37, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
Jenin
Thanks for your note - it actually is not a picture I took; I found it off the internet from a source that had no information about copyright status, but in order to avoid complications I took it off the Jenin page. Thanks again from bringing it to my attention. Ramallite (talk) 05:13, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Jhhj.jpg
Thanks for the tip-off. I don't mean to pass the buck, but that image was uploaded by User:JoeM. I believe he's been unbanned now, so i'll leave it to him (?) to tag it. I just cropped the thing because it was too big! The rest of the images i have uploaded here (& on Commons) are tagged like a dog. Thanks, Hoshie | 08:55, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Re: Jovan Cvijic.png
Uroš Predić, who painted the painting died on February 11, 1953. So, if I get it right, this painting goes into PD in something like 18 years. Could it be licenced under fair-use until then, since it is by far the best portrait/photo of Jovan Cvijić? -- Obradović Goran (talk 21:35, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
- Well I don't have any source info, I only know that Uroć Predić painted it, since he is one of the most famous Serbian painters. This picture may even be in the PD, but I'm no expert, and I don't have the information. That would be all I can do to help... -- Obradović Goran (talk 21:47, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
Images
It'd be great if these kind of iamges had {{Non-free fair use in}} and the instructions on Wikipedia:Image description page were followed and a fair use rationale was provided. Popular culture and sports articles are particularly bad offenders when it comes to sourcing and following the rules for fair use.--nixie 10:58, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
Australian Aboriginal flag is the current ACOTF
Hi. You voted for Australian Aboriginal flag to be selected as Australian Collaboration of the fortnight. It has now been selected. Please improve it in any way you see fit. Thanks. --Scott Davis Talk 13:57, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
{{no source}}
Hey, I know this is a stupid question, but you are the first I've seen that's added a date to the {{no source}} tag on images. Do they work without the dates, or should I go back and add the date to all of images I've tagged this past week (I help out in the PUI area)? I'm sorry, I just never actually saw anything mention that, but it does explain the weird {{{{1}}}} thing that shows up. Thank you! :) --Foofy 01:55, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
- Ahuh! it's not a stupid question, because the template was changed and as far as I can tell no instructions were issues on how to deal with it. Anyway, the usage i've been using is {{no source|~~~~~}} which automatically timestamps it, and makes it easier for admins to delete - but nothing gets automatically deleted around here, so you dont need to go back and re-do them. I've be backdating any timestamps that I see when working from the IUS area. Have a look at User:Agnte/ImageCleanups for the other templates ive been using. hope that helps. Re my Joshua Tree image: this is a US government public domain image, I think I got it from the National Park Service Web site, but that's down right now so I can't check, and I can't figure out how to edit the page in question. (I'm also confused by the dates on the "this will be removed" warning--it looks as though this "will be removed" note is about ten days old, but it states a removal date in 2004.) The tag it should have is {{PD-USGov-Interior}}. Vicki Rosenzweig 21:51, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

Aussie Rules Footy photos
Hi, I have contributed some photos from the AFL and I want to make sure that I respect copyright. I uploaded a couple that I had taken at games and these seem to also have been deleted even though I specified that I was the copyright owner. See interules.gif for example. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Biatch (talk • contribs)
- It's deleted so I can't see it. If you took the picture, then i suggest uploading to Commons under a creative commons (free-ish) licence. Have a look at Image:KhyberPassPakistan.jpg for one of the images I've taken & uploaded. Agnte 21:43, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for checking the Senna image. The source had granted authorisation to use the image on Wikipedia. I updated the information and believe I tagged the image correctly now. If there's any problems leave me a message. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gold333 (talk • contribs)
Hi, I saw you listed the article on afd. There's no reason to place pages like this on afd unless you actually want it deleted, since anyone can just revert the redirect if they don't agree with it. - Bobet 16:26, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, I closed it. Hopefully no one will complain. - Bobet 17:18, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Inquisition Myth..
- Delete. The title of this topic is POV. Agnte 10:44, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- It would have been renamed allready, everyone agrees the name is bad and needs to be renamed, but we can't do anything while the VfD is underway. Would you reconsider to change your vote to "rename"? --Stbalbach 13:46, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your RFA support
Gday, Agnte! I've been on wikibreak for this past week, so here is a belated thank-you for your support in my successful RFA. I see you've had a few of these, so simply: Happy new year (if that's your kind of thing)! jnothman talk 18:33, 31 December 2005 (UTC) |
Mountain Goat
Yes I have drunk the beer, and it had some yeast sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Added to which the brewery claims the beer is unfiltered and unpasteurised - the requirements for a bottle conditioned beer, and RateBeer.Com has it listed as a bottle conditioned beer. The style of the beer is a bitter or pale ale. But calling an Australian beer a "bitter" might lead to confusion with those hoppy lagers the Aussie brewers call bitter. I changed what someone had listed as "real ale" into something more specific and verifiable (I suspect when served on draught it wouldn't qualify as Real Ale, which is a very limiting and strict CAMRA definition), though I didn't actually change the style. Cheers! SilkTork 18:08, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- Real Ale. Yes, I agree that the term Real Ale is widely misunderstood. I have looked again at the page for Real Ale and made another adjustment which I hope will make the term a little clearer. It might be an idea if I adjust the entry in Mountain Goat to read Pale Ale as neither Real Ale or Bottle Conditioned is a beer style, which is what that beer box wants to say. All I was doing was going through Wiki and correcting sentences which mentioned Real Ale when Cask Ale was the more exact term. The Mountain Goat entry was awkward because the term Real Ale it was in that beer box under style. SilkTork 22:34, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
RFA
Hi, just wanted to thank you for voting on my RFA, which went through with a count of (58/0/1), far better than I'd expected. I intend to take things slowly and start using the extra abilities gradually, but if there's anything I can do just leave a message. Cheers, CTOAGN (talk) 13:51, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Based on what I've seen from you on AfD, I think that you might have something to add to the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cart00ney. I'd appreciate you weighing in on the matter in either direction. Savidan 19:50, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Leunig
Hi,
you seem to be plugged into Wikipedia; can you try to get the Leunig page locked for a while? I'm getting tired of removing POV comments from a couple of editors, as I suspect you are.
I've nominated it for a lock, but it doesn't seem to have happened.
tks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.23.138.75 (talk • contribs)
- Its now locked, but I doubt the current semi-protection lock isn't going to help - it only prevents editing by new or anonymous users, and our POV-pushers have legit accounts. Agnte 10:15, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
well, it's a start. I will keep an eye on it too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.23.138.75 (talk • contribs)

My RfA
Thanks for your vote My request for adminship passed with a final result of 78/2/0. Hopefully I will live up to everyone's expectations. Please ask if I can ever help out with anything in the future.Martyman - 09:22, 20 February 2006 (UTC) |
Thanks for your voting!
Hi, thanks for your voting on my RFA. It has finished with the result 88/14/9, and I am promoted. I am really overwhelmed with the amount of support I have got. With some of you we have edited many articles as a team, with some I had bitter arguments in the past, some of you I consider to be living legends of Wikipedia and some nicks I in my ignorance never heard before. I love you all and I am really grateful to you.
If you feel I can help you or Wikipedia as a human, as an editor or with my newly acquired cleaning tools, then just ask and I will be happy to assist. If you will feel that I do not live up to your expectation and renegade on my promises, please contact me. Maybe it was not a malice but just ignorance or a short temper. Thank you very much, once more! abakharev 07:34, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
I have edited this article removing unverified stuff and adding verifiable material from sources such as newspapers. I would be grateful if you could take a look. Capitalistroadster 09:56, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
I see that you are listed as a participant in the WikiProject Melbourne. If you are a Melbourne resident I would appreciate your views on the suggested Meetup in March . Please give some indication of your interest, or otherwise, in the idea. Even a simple "No thanks" with your user name would be welcome and assist in assessing the level of support for a meetup. Thank you.. Cuddy Wifter 06:14, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
Beefart thanks you.
RfA Thanks
Thank you for voting on my RfA, it passed with a final tally of 68/0/0 so I'm now an administrator. If there's anything I can do to help, you feel I've done something wrong, or there's just something you want to tell, don't hesitate to use my talk page. Thanks. - Bobet 10:22, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for your support of my RfA
Thank you for your support of my successful request for adminship. Hi
Hi. I've added Lee Torney to the Melbourne gangland killings and increased the count to 35. - Richardcavell 01:33, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
Could you weigh in at the bottom of the Talk Page for Katelyn Faber regarding the inclusion of an image of her? User:Tufflaw, who unsuccessfully tried to have the entire article deleted back in December 2005 insists on censoring/deleting it for extremely specious reasons, and I've been asked to gather a consensus. Please read the bottom two sections of that page. Thanks. Nightscream 19:01, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Beer cats & kittens
It has been suggested by User:BrianSmithson and supported by User:Syrthiss that the Beer and brewery categories should be renamed. This proposal has been supported and expanded by myself. The notion is that the regional categories should follow the format of "Beer and breweries in Africa" /Europe/Asia/North America/South America/Oceania. "Brewers and breweries" could also be renamed "Beer and breweries by region". And all the countries should also be renamed (and merged if needed) as, for example, "Beer and breweries of Germany", "Beer and breweries of Britain", "Beer and breweries of Poland". The word in each case would be beer rather than beers to allow for general articles on beer culture in each region as well as individual beers.

Resolving conflict
Hi Agnte. We had a conversation in Feb about Mountain Goat. People in the Wiki Beer Project feel that my editing style is causing problems. Looking back at my record I am inclined to agree that I may have been a bit arrogant in my editing, and perhaps in my dealings with people. It was never my intention to be rude, or to appear as though I was taking matters into my own hand without regard for others, but I can see that it has happened. I wish to apologise if any any point in our contact you felt I was being dismissive of your views, or was pushing my own views onto you. I would welcome your feedback. And I would like to know if you feel the matter regarding Mountain Goat has been resolved to your satisfaction, or if there are still issues there that we need to talk about. Best wishes SilkTork 20:07, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
