Bheema (Tamil: பீமா)is a forthcoming Tamil film to be directed by N. Linguswamy. It stars Vikram, Trisha Krishnan and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. The movie will also be dubbed in Telugu.[citation needed] The film's score and soundtrack will be composed by Harris Jayaraj with lyrics by renowned poets; Na. Muthukumar, Pa. Vijay and Vairamuthu. Cinematography for the movie is handled by R.D. Rajasekhar while editing is being handled by A. Sreekar Prasad. The movie has been said to be about life in the underworld. Shooting for the film began on the 24th of April, 2006 at various locations in India. The film was slated for a Pongal/Sankranthi 2007 release, but it was pushed back to May 11, 2007 due to technical difficulties. Then it was postponed further due to the nearing release of Sivaji: The Boss.[1] The film soundtrack was released on August 10, 2007 and the film is slated for a Pongal 2008 release

Harris Jeyaraj and Vikram have teamed up for 4 films previously (Samurai, Saamy, Arul, Anniyan). Each music album went on to become a mega hit.[1]

The movie has been postponed to this "summer".[2] The film was previously said to be completed.[3] It is now nearing completion[4] after restarting.

The film was set to release late in November for Diwali 2007. However, it has been delayed,yet again. Fans eagerly await the new release date for the film.

Trivia

  • This is the second time Vikram has been paired opposite Trisha. Their last film together, Saamy was a tremendous hit.
  • Sherin who has acted in movies like Thulluvadho Ilamai and Whistle will be shaking her legs with Vikram for an item number in the movie.
  • Katrina Kaif was considered for the role of the leading lady of this film.
  • Nana Patekar walked out of the project after originally being picked.
  • The title of this film was taken from the name of the heroic warrior Bhima, a character from The Mahabharata.
  • Vikram has called upon the services of former Mr Tamil Nadu Rajendran to help him in his training to look more the part for Bheema.[5]
