Mobile17

Mobile17 is a website created by Ben Guild (also known by the nickname "smash") that has enabled users to create mobile-content (such as ringtones and graphics) at no-charge. When initially launched in 2005, it sported the name "SmashTheTones"; but after being featured on the now defunct TechTV's "The Screen Savers" and reviewed in Sarah Lane's 'Damn Good Download' weekly segment, (video-clip on YouTube) the site was revamped and the project's name matured from "SmashTheTones" to "Mobile17".

To this day the site thrives on the demand for user-generated cellphone content, and has been praised in publications such as Popular Science and Men's Health magazines, as well as The Boston Globe.

A Girl and a Gun (2007)

Ian Hart, Paul Freeman and Anna Walton star in this 2007 short film written and directed by David Hughes.

Welcome to Southend - the Las Vegas of the Third World.
Instead of high-end casinos, there are run-down arcades. Instead of luxury hotels, there are grotty bed and breakfasts.
And instead of top dog Mobsters, there are small time hoods like Johnny.
Johnny's boss is "Shrewd" Eddie. Eddie runs Southend. He gets ten percent of all the action that happens there. He also gets all the best women, like Lucille.
But in this world, everyone has a boss - even Eddie. His is London Kingpin Tommy Jasons.
This weekend Tommy is coming down to check up on Eddie, and Eddie's not looking forward to the visit...

The short has been a download hit in both the US (released on iTunes) and the UK (released on BT Vision's download service).
