Number

FYI, it was number 55, not number 17. I looked it up, and I was wrong in my original writeup. --SFoskett 19:08, Jan 24, 2005 (UTC)

NA v Turbo

I made a slight edit.

The original text claimed (or implied) that turbocharging was necessary to make high power for street rotary engines. This is not true. The distinction must be made that most rotary engines are twin-rotor, not quad rotor, and the many tri-rotor engines that do exist on the street utilise turbocharging in addition to the power provided by the displacement. There are even hand-built 4-rotor engines very similar to the 787B's 26B on the streets, some that use forced induction, some that do not.

But no one should ever say that turbochargers are necessary for power. In fact, there have been examples of the 13B (Non-Turbo) from the Mazda RX-7 FC3S/3C producing over 250 horsepower (almost a 100% increase in output).

Banning of Rotaries after the 787B

This article makes no mention about how, after the car's victory at Le Mans, the ACO banned rotary engines. It should be added. 205.157.110.11 23:04, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now it has been mentioned, a lot of people who was around when Gr C was there would know...simply to allow the F1 engine cars to compete as the FIA and ACO were concerned over top speed at the Mulsanne Straight. Willirennen 13:19, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Racing car template

I've had a stab at a template for racing cars (see template:Racing car) to summarise the usual data. I've used the F1 templates as a starting point and applied it to the Brabham BT46 article. If anyone's got an interest in this, please have a look at the template and modify or suggest changes as appropriate. After a few people have had a go at it and we have something we're happy with we could start to use it more widely. Note that it's not meant to be specific to F1, by the way. Cheers. 4u1e 10:25, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About Mazda 787B

It is a beautiful race car and it did appeared on Gran Turismo 4. This proves that the 787B has no Turbo. It is an NA race car. Best Gamer 24 July 2006

No disrespect intended, but this only proves the car has no turbo in the game - not necessarily in real life. In any case, I think you're right, I don't believe the car had (or needed) a turbo. Tzittnan 20:43, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What does the 787B sound like? Revs like a girl? best Gamer 31 July 2006

The 787B sounds incredible, there are some video clips showing how it sounds on http://www.rotaryengineillustrated.com in the video section, it sounds REAL cool.

The reason given for the Telescopic Intake Manifold System (TIMS), is incorrect, as is its location. I am referencing the Society of Automotive Engineers paper 920309. "It is a well known fact that the dynamic effect of intake airflow can be used to increase volumetric efficiency. The system adopted by Mazda employs telescopically-variable intake pipes, where the length of the pipes varies steplessly to match the engine speed, thus providing a dynamic effect over a wider engine speed range." The pipes ALWAYS remain in the airbox located inside the bodywork on the starboard side of the vehicle. Airacobra p39 18:27, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An article about a winner without a bit of how it won!

I had to add some on this article as the early edit made it sound like an article about a race winner without coverage about how it won or what happened which made it appear to be a very bizarre article, I added a bit from what I vaguely remembered, so there will needs to be more about what went on that year. Willirennen 18.38 30 Oct 2006

I have done some bits of it, the one source I need is that French 1991 Le Mans yearbook written by these two Le Mans historians, thats if anybody has a copy, I know even if it is expensive? Willirennen 12.52 14 November 2006

Copyvio

As a matter of chance...I looked at the reason Pulsar was wikilinked in the article and did some research on that (it's a type of battery?).

That's when I discovered:

http://tenerife-training.net/Tenerife-News-Cycling-Blog/2007/10/inspirational-people/the-1991-le-mans-mazda-team-and-the-legendary-rotary-renown-787b/

Now...i noticed some of the specifications and some of the main text of the article were reproductions of the website. I am too involved with the cleanup of Category:Wireless networking to help any more getting this article out of its predicament. E_dog95' Hi ' 03:19, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I took another look - I'm overturning my copyvio assertion - restoring last good version - it looks like the Wikipedia article was developed before the alleged web site was - this isn't absolute, but after looking at it... E_dog95' Hi ' 04:53, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

787B's/Vehicles appearance (Suggestion)

Many vehicles, like this one, wanted to be written it's appeaance, like fictional characters? Should we do that? Professional Gamer (talk) 17:06, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
