Merkaz Yael

Hi rebbe. Just to give you a heads-up, I tagged the article as non-english. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 03:49, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Prazon

Please try to refrain from writing articles mostly in foreign languages. This is the English Wikipedia, after all. --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 04:11, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notice to New Page Patrollers: I translate articles from the Hebrew Wikipedia into English. If you see me editing a Hebrew article, please leave it alone while I work on the translation. Thank you. Shalom (HelloPeace) 04:18, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is not meant to be impersonal; just a general explanation. I should start using the "construction" template again to prevent such misunderstandings. Shalom (HelloPeace) 04:24, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year!

Dear friend, I hope you had a wonderful New Year's Eve, and that 2008 is your best year yet! ~ Riana 04:28, 2 January 2008 (UTC) [reply]

Juiced Ball Theory

Hello! Thank you for guiding me in the right direction after my proposed speedy deletion of the article. At the time I read it, it had no sources and was extremely incomplete. It has since been added to. And yes, you are correct, the juiced ball theory (even though I doubt it) is a notable issue for MLB, its players, and its fans. It would be terrible to find out that we have not only been in a prolonged era of steroids and other PEDs, but juiced balls also.

Thanks for the advice! DS2434 (talk) 01:37, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

...Go Red Sox!

Now that the AfD discussion is closed, I have moved "Juiced ball" theory to Juiced ball theory. This was done because people looking for this are not likely to type the quotation marks when they look for this topic using the search box. The old location of the article still exists as a redirect to the new one, so you probably won't see much of a difference. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 03:00, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

...apparently, the old location has been deleted as "implausible typo". Oh, well... --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 02:44, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate, that landed on WP:100! I paid close attention to everything that was said, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. I'm taking things slowly for now, partially because of the holiday season and all the off-wiki distractions. :) I'm also working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school and double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, but I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are several more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status! Thanks again, and have a great new year, --Elonka 07:20, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

Updated DYK query On 10 January, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article 2002 Pi Glilot bombing, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Shalom to you too! --Royalbroil 14:23, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shonot

I happened to see your name in the Hebrew wikipedia, and then read your user page in the English one. I am also a chess player and I looked into the nice problems/endings that you put in the chessgames.com.

If you need any pictures from the northern part of Israel just let me know - I like to take photos and many of them appear in the webshots.com under my name Yoavd.

Syntax Records

Hello,

Please give consider not deleting it. This niche community is JUST now getting involved in Wikipedia. Allow us some time to get it how you want. Syntax Records is a vital part of underground hip hop culture, and deleting it this early would be a tragedy since mostly right now is just spent gather information. Now that I know external links are needed, then we will take care of that. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocdomz (talkcontribs) 04:37, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think "underground hip hop culture" is notable enough for Wikipedia. Anyway it's not my decision to make. My only role is to suggest that it be deleted; the final outcome is decided by others. Shalom (HelloPeace) 04:40, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SSP

What do you make of this: Wikipedia:Suspected_sock_puppets#User:MaindrianPace...me, Arnold maybe, Holden not so sure. Also, SSP is way backed up, any additional ones you can look at would be appreciated. RlevseTalk 15:44, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Idea for Talmud articles

Hi Shalom: I am reposting the following request from User Sh76us (talk · contribs) on my user talk page for wider notification:

I was thinking of trying to stimulate development of a series of articles on Gemara concepts and doctrines, maybe to help children or newcomers to Gemara with explanations of some fundamental concepts that recur throughout the Gemara. Some examples might be articles on Yiush, Chazakah, Ta'aninun (as in "Ta'aninun L'Yoresh"), Eidim Zomemin (forgive my awful transliterations), Migu, etc., etc. Maybe we could even create a category or subcategory for it. I created Breira in this vein. As I don't have the experience or expertise in Wikipedia to know what to do to best develop this idea, I figured I'd come to you for your opinions on: (1) whether it's a good idea; and (2) How to best go about implementing it. Thanks Sh76us (talk) 15:56, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I left a note for you at your Wikisource page, but you don't seem to have been there since. We can only accept content that is in the public domain or has been released by the creator under a free licence. Since Brathwaite was born in 1930 and is still alive, that poem can't be public domain unless he released it as such. I'm not aware of any evidence that he did, or that he released it under any other Wikisource-compatible licence. I've nominated it for deletion here. Sorry for any annoyance. Regards. Cowardly Lion (talk) 03:04, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No hard feelings. I wasn't aware of that rule, and I have no objection to deletion. Shalom (HelloPeace) 04:23, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re: Raume.DE AF

Generally if you make a report about a user to AN/I or other places, it is good form to notify that user that you have done so. I have notified the user. --Spike Wilbury talk 17:18, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I closed as delete. If you need the article restored to your user-space to complete the redirects, just drop me a note. Pastordavid (talk) 17:12, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chessgames Wikipedia entry

Hi, I read that you credited ZeroOne with re-writing the Chessgames Wikipedia entry. While he did participate, the article was actually written by Tony Palmer, user tpstar on chessgames. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.156.28.16 (talk) 20:58, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I cited ZeroOne based on the page history. I am aware that tpstar developed the new version of the article in his "chessforum", but the formal credit belongs to whoever uploaded the content onto Wikipedia. You are free to note Tony Palmer's role on Talk:ChessGames.com. Shalom (HelloPeace) 00:04, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way - I just looked and saw some 35 old games of mine in the site. No game after 2002 so probably they do not update it. I have more then 300 games in the ICCF site and my current ELO is 2624 give or take... I am accredited with 2320... --YoavD (talk) 18:36, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
