Existence

does it still exist or disbanded? Mikkalai 23:55, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

In 1985 the band dissolved after they released several more albums without much commercial success. --67.163.127.169 03:16, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Would it be legal to link to an MP3 of the song in English? --67.163.127.169 21:49, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Can we get a caption on that pick telling which member is which? You know, from left to right? That'd be swell.

Actually, there is a Russian Moskau YTMND on ytmnd.com. I'll try to find the link for it.

  • I'd put the link, but it's blacklisted for some reason.

In addition, there are two versions, according to www.dschinghis-khan.de One version is by a Russian band called Accademia (band), and another by another Russian band called OSP Studia (Leonid Kaganov). I have no idea which version the YTMND in that link is playing. 24.250.1.196 22:23, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article needs to say if it was a West or East German band.

Not notable as a YTMND Fad

In a google search for "dschinghis khan", YTMND does not appear on the first or even second page. It is not notable in relation to the article. In addition, linking to anything containing that much of their songs is blatantly illegal. --DJH47 06:48, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think a google search is a valid test to see if something is noteworthy or not. As long as YTMND has a page up on Wikipedia it should be linked to when appropriate. If you are so hung up about copyright violations you should also delete this link: COPYRIGHT VIOLATION DELETED as it contains links to the video and the YTMND. As it stands right now you are showing a grossly unfair bais against YTMND.--Virulent 78 12:56, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Just because a page is notable enough to be on Wikipedia does not mean that every single random fad on it must be noted. Thank you for telling me that the blog was a copyright violation. --DJH47 01:52, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Compromise? I have edited the article so it no longer references YTMND but still recognizes the fact that the song Moskau (and therefore the group itself) have become a popular internet fad. The Moskau article still references YTMND but I have altered it so it is merely used as an example of the song being popular on the internet. In no cases is the actual YTMND page linked so there should be no copyright violations. Happy? --Virulent 78 04:37, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I am fine with this. --DJH47 06:15, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that will do great. Good job on being constructive! SoothingR 14:34, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Moskau Video

About the Moskau video floating around on the internet; does anyone know when it was originally broadcast on TV & what channel it was broadcast on?

17.09.1979, Channel: ZDF, the show called DISCO (Labrokratis 23:33, 11 May 2007 (UTC)) There are also at least 3 more "live" versions of "Moskau".[reply]

Moskau: Extended Version

Hey, I discovered something interesting about Moskau. Apparently, there's an extended version of the song. Normally, Moskau is 4:29 long, but this version is longer. I have a link to a video here with part of that version (it should be around the 2-minute mark):

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7371631537123941641&q=Moskau&hl=en

Also, I found a page with a MIDI version of this extended Moskau (Let me know if there are problems with the page. It's in the M table):

http://mitglied.lycos.de/dennis40/html/midis.htm

Does anyone have any lyrics of this extended version of Moskau or any non-MIDI versions of it (e.g., MP3s, WMAs, OGGs, TNTs, etc...)? I'd be really grateful if anyone could find lyrics of this version of Moskau. Also, some YTMNDs have parts of this version. Sgt. Bond 20:53, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I found some. This extended version is 6:01 long. Sgt. Bond 22:47, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hah, I dowloaded a 8:20 version from iTunes. That must be the extended extended version. --81.233.196.49 (talk) 18:06, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey...

How many Americans actually knew of Dschinghis Khan before "Moskau" became an internet hit? 24.250.1.196 14:50, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Rocking Son of Dschinghis Khan"

I know that rock 'n' roll did not exist in Genghis Khan's time, but who here thinks that Ögedei Khan was the so-called "Rocking Son of Dschinghis Khan"? If not him, then does anyone else have any idea about which of Genghis Khan's sons could be the "Rocking Son of Dschinghis Khan"? (P.S., these are serious questions) Sgt. Bond 19:08, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is the third Single. Dschinghis Khan - Rocking son of Dschinghis Khan broadcasted in an English version, on Musikladen 49, at 18.10.1979 (Labrokratis 23:37, 11 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]
