Protection

"page protection" banner? It seems unnecessary and really makes the page and Wikipedia look bad. sean (talk) 08:46, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good point Sean, but seeing as how the protection is set to "expire" tomorrow (19 May 2008) anyways, I don't think it's something worth pursuing. That is, of course, unless the protection gets renewed. I don't know what kind of "vandalism" was going on to warrant the protection in the first place--this is only my second visit to the Walter Gropius wiki page in a short time--but hopefully enough time has passed since the protection was instated that by the time the protection is lifted tomorrow, whomever was responsible has long since moved on to needlessly vandalizing other pages. I guess we shall cross that bridge when we get there. --Schaea (talk) 09:54, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The protection is no doubt in place due to Google increasing traffic (and vandalism) to this page today for Walter's 125th birthday. He got a really good Google doodle. Wikipedia would look worse if half the people coming in to learn about Gropius saw blatant vandalism. Mr. Welsh (talk) 15:51, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

German or french?

shit I see the link to German architects as category, But since he was also a US citizen he was an American architect. Technically he was a US architect, though most US people still think of themselves as American. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Brosi (talkcontribs) 03:06, 20 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Technically he was a German-born architect who emigrated to England, then moved to the United States and became a citizen, continuing to work as an architect. Whether he considered himself German or American is not a simple question, as with many of his fellow emigrants. --Fixifex 17:41, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is also quite amazing that we are missing any information on his training. That's really a problem.Fixifex 17:41, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
