Welcome

Hello, Bobanni, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

If you are interested in Ukraine-related themes, you may want to check out the Ukraine Portal, particularly the Portal:Ukraine/New article announcements and Portal:Ukraine/Ukraine-related Wikipedia notice board. The New article announcements board is probably the most important and the most attended one. Please don't forget to announce there the new articles you create. Adding both boards to your watchlist is probably a good idea.

Finally, in case you are interested, similar boards exist at Russia portal as many editors contribute to topics related to both countries. The respective boards there are: Portal:Russia/New article announcements and Portal:Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. Of course there are also many other portals at Wikipedia or you may just get right into editing.

Again, welcome! --Boguslav (talk) 03:34, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Lone Indian.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Lone Indian.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:08, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of A W Neill Middle School

A W Neill Middle School, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that A W Neill Middle School satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/A W Neill Middle School and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of A W Neill Middle School during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Ridernyc 20:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for posting the announcement of the article at the portal.--Riurik(discuss) 07:35, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Danylo Shumuk

Bobanni. Thanks for starting this artcicle. Shumuk is a fascinating character. I has more stuff on him which I will add in the new year. Regards Eduvalko (talk) 15:51, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Award

The Exceptional Newcomer Award
You have shown yourself worthy of this a while back, so here it is for creating Ukrainian Helsinki group and Danylo Shumuk, among what I hope will be many more of these in the future. Congrats!--Riurik(discuss) 06:44, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TDSB

You are engaging in original research because you are taking two primary sources and making your own conclusions. You also have no source for the claim of Holdomar denial - it is your own personal conclusion but unless you can find a verifiable and reliable source that makes this accusation against the TDSB we cannot put that in. Reggie Perrin (talk) 22:42, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:OR and, in particular, WP:SYNTH. We do not do primary research here, I'm afraid. What you need is a third-party source such as a newspaper, magazine or journal article which makes these assertions. Reggie Perrin (talk) 22:43, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

З Новим роком

Thanks for making all of those Ukrainian culture articles. I hope you can keep creating them in the new year. Thanks, Ostap 00:20, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Categorizing

Hello, Bobanni. Please add categories to the articles that you create. For example, the article Christmas traditions in Ukraine could have been categorized as Category:Ukrainian culture or on the lines of Category:Christianity in Ukraine. All categories can be found in the Category tree. Thank you! :) --Boguslav (talk) 04:17, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If only you were on wikipedia now, you could see your Ukrainian embroidery article on the main page. Ostap 03:22, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updated DYK query On 4 January, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Ukrainian embroidery, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Here's a permanent link [1]. I don't know if it will work later based on the way the main page is composed. Congratulations in any case! --Royalbroil 05:15, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Come now, you were the one who created the article. If you find editing Ukrainian topics to be fun, you might want to join the Ukrainian wikiproject and of course always keep an eye on the Portal:Ukraine/New article announcements. Writing about topics such as these is also a great way to learn. I hope you can keep making new Ukrainian pages and have fun :) Ostap 05:59, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Natalka Poltavka

Since the Kotlyarevsky play was written first, I changed it around so it credits him rather than Lysenko. I hope you don't mind. If you want to write about just the Lysenko operetta, you can always change it back. regards, Ostap 00:06, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And thanks for the Svitlychna correction. Ostap 00:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Thanks for your support at my request for adminship, which passed today with 42/0/0!

I would like to thank Wizardman for nominating me, [[User:Bobanni|Bobanni]] and everyone else for their support and comments. If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks again, —dima/talk/ 01:39, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ukrainian weddings

Hello, sorry to bother again. If you plan to write about Ukrainian wedding, please do this is a very interesting topic. I have thought of writing this also. Here are some sources you might want to use: Encyclopedia of Ukraine 'wedding", Encyclopedia of Ukraine "Wedding songs", Ukrainian village weddings by Dr. Kononenko, Ukrainian weddings university of Alberta museums Ukrainian Weddings in Manitoba, but Ukrainian nonetheless, more Canadian Ukrainian weddings, Hutsul wedding, Central Ukrainian wedding, Ukrainian government portal (scroll to the bottom for wedding traditions), lots of information on this site. You can also find information about wedding traditions on the Culture of Ukraine, Vinok, Korovai, and Ukrainian embroidery articles. Hope this helps. --Ostap 04:11, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Primer - Who’s who in Eastern Europe, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 10:00, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate you have done a lot of work on this article but I regret to say that it is an hopeless duplication of material elsewhere on Wikipedia. We had a similar "original research" synthesis recently: Youth Offending Team/Glossary which was deleted after this AfD discussion. It has now found a secure home here on Wikia. I strongly recommend you to transfer your "Primer" to Wikia.
The "Primer ..." title was poor and unencyclopedic. If you want, you could create an article List of peoples of Eastern Europe being your primer savagely reduced simply to a set of wikilinks. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 10:25, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Another thought is to offer it as portal material at Portal talk:Europe. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 11:59, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Award

The Ukranian Barnstar
You are hereby awarded this Barnstar for expanding the coverage of Ukrainian articles on Wikipedia, especially those on its culture and history, and for creating among many others Danylo Shumuk, Christmas traditions in Ukraine, and Ukrainian wedding traditions.--Riurik(discuss) 19:04, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Any interest in expanding Ukrainian folklore? Thanks, Ostap 05:41, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Checking the facts

A recent edit of yours is confusing to me. According to the Future Shop article, they are a wholly owned subsidiary of Best Buy Corporation. Is that information no longer correct? I'm not disputing that Best Buy Canada also exists, but shouldn't both be listed instead of one...or should BBC redirect to Future Shop instead of back to the Best Buy article? Something needs to change IMO. I think the Best Buy article needs to have a link to Future Shop somewhere. My mistake, there are still a couple of FS links in the article. --OnoremDil 03:18, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Future Shop as a corporation no longer exists. - OK. So they are still operating stores with the Future Shop name, but the subsidiary is actually called Best Buy Canada now? Does the Future Shop article need updating? Does the Best Buy Canada redirect need to change?...or should Future Shop be moved to Best Buy Canada?...or am I completely lost here? I am very tired at the moment, but I'll try to remember to look into it tomorrow if updates are needed. Thanks for the reply. --OnoremDil 03:37, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re;Tech tip

Ah, that kinda thing isn't there quite yet. A human [such as Irpen] is still irreplaceable. Thanks. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 11:03, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Working on it. On a separate note, I wholly agree with your suggestion at UPA talk.

And, yet, on a separate note. Can we discuss your plans wrt the Holodomor and related topics. Let me explain why I think the numbers should stay where they are as far as the lead section is concerned. If you read the talk page, you will find why the Conquest's work, performed when archives were closed is enormously outdated. It is like giving the range of the mass for Jupiter moons and having one end of this range defined by the data obtained in 1930-1950s by optical telescopes and the other end of the range being derived from the calculations obtained by the data from the Voyagers that already flew there.

As for the data given by Yushchenko in his speaches, let me just say that contrary to what some assume of me, I am not in the camp of the opponents of this president. However, as you and I most certainly agree, he is not a scholar and his "estimates" have no standing in academic community while they matter of course in the political debates. Perhaps, due to the latter reason the numbers he give vary so much. In the articles placed under his name in WSJ the number is given as 10 mln. In his speech to the US congress, the number is already 20 mln. And elsewhere, he said that without the catastrophes there would have been 80 to 120 mln of Ukrainians around by now. I hope we agree that this all belongs to the politicization section and not estimates of any sorts.

Also, what is the point of your template:Holodomor. It seems to be a hodge podge of stuff arbitrary, and often incorrectly, picked. Why do we need this template at all? Regards, --Irpen 03:01, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of List of nationalities and cultures in Eastern Europe

An editor has nominated List of nationalities and cultures in Eastern Europe, an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of nationalities and cultures in Eastern Europe and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 22:00, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kievan Rus

You realise that using the History of Ukraine template would necessitate two other templates? That's why the article has been stable using the History of the Eastern Slavs template. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 01:13, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User:Bobanni

I think, it is clear that article concerns Ukrainian Insurgent Army and it does not concern person, User:Bobanni (his life, hobby, etc.). So, in my opinion, the title ought to be change. Shalom, Mibelz 15:57, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All files that belong to an editor are profixed with User:. Note yours is User:Mibelz.

I was working on an alternaive layout from a former copy. It is not ready to be released. If you copy it again it will really infuriate the other editors who are working on this article Bobanni (talk) 16:16, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have to leave. Could you take over trying to get the template in articles? The discussion is going on now at Template talk:Holodomor. Thanks, Ostap 06:54, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
