Strong Bias

There is some strong bias in this article it needs a clean up. Wikipedia is about presenting the facts and is not about presenting your opinions or grudges.

Fact

Will Pakistan fans please stop removing the words "However, none of the allegedly contaminated legal supplements were provided for testing in order to support this defence." No allegedly contaminated legal supplements were provided for testing and that is a fact which has considerable bearing on this matter. HarryFromNWE 14:58, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What does that have to do with the article? The ICC is allowing him to play so what are you trying to imply?

eunuch

I'm pretty sure Shoaib Akhtar is not a eunuch. There is no source given for the claim so I am removing it. Fkh82

POV

Strong POV in both directions in this article. I've slapped the {{NPOV}} tag on the article. Anyone want to try and clean it up? Stephen Turner 13:10, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

cite specific instances here on talk page where you feel that article is no longer neutral before putting pov tag

Video

I just added an ultra slow motion video of his bowling action. The action is suspect, and I think that the video should help people decide for themselves. RIT[Ash]

I don't object to having a video, but isn't the contents of that video copyright? We shouldn't link to copyright violations. Stephen Turner (Talk) 12:29, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While Akhtar's action has been controversial, the ICC has used evidence from an Australian University's biomechanic report to clear him. A single video can not do justice to any bowler, since actions vary over time and from ball to ball. The video serves no constructive purpose here, and it would be better to simply narrate the factual history of the issue: Shoaib was reported to the ICC, and cleared by the ICC. Let's leave it at that.

It's actually a fascinating topic. The action appears suspect due to his hyperextensible joints. When he bowls, at that phenomenal pace that he does, his elbow actually bends backwards a little. He's not throwing, but there is greater variation in the angle of the elbow than for a person with normal joints. MrAngy 15:13, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have removed text stating that Akhtar assaulted Bob Woolmer. I viewed the video on youtube and found that it did not contain said event. Therefore i removed the text. 19 March 2007

Missing information

I have just exorcised much of the bias from this article. However, it is seriously lacking on the chucking controversy, and it would be good if someone could write something about this. Sam Korn (smoddy) 15:38, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mrizwank 06:05, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Lots and lots of info is missing regarding chucking, attitude problem, team man problem and his saga of 'insane pursuit of pace'[reply]

Chucking Etc

Shoaib and Brett Lee have both been called. It has also been noted that all bowlers flex to a degree and Shoaib has hyper-extension which gives the illusion of chucking (just like Brett Lee) so perhaps we ensure this is balanced please.

Recent Allegations

Lets hold the following until it gets a little credible. Right?

In November, 2006, he was accused by Pakistani team's liaison manager that he had slapped coach Bob Wolmer over an iPod song being played on the team bus and that he had created a brawl with a lady during the evening in a disco.[1] [2] but Shoaib and Woolmer have both denied the allegations. Nov. 9, 2006

Well, i've added some more information with latest developments including the hotel manager and greg chappell's police complaint. The mere fact that the allegations have been controversial merits an inclusion, if true or not. If found to be false in the future, it should be noted as such. But not reporting isn't the way it works. Thanks. Idleguy 03:52, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh well, I have modified the text to make sure it doesn't look like an item in a tabloid. Although I believe it doesn't warrant a place here, I hope the change fits your taste. Nov. 11, 2006

Ambiguity

The sections on Performances and Controversies and Injuries say similar things about his life and the Performances section details about Controversy and Injury to such a significant degree that they could easily be merged to solve the repetition or the Performances section should detail more specifically about his match performances: including figures and statistics. Which solution should be used to improve this articles useability? Rvwedd 16:57, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Later in 2005 he fared a spirited bowling attack against Australia."

This makes no sense to me: what does it mean? Led the attack? Shared it? What? Loganberry (Talk) 15:53, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a redirect

Do you think it makes sense to create a redirect from Rawalpindi Express to Shoaib Akhtar? Regards, Kushalt 21:36, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
