Release Date as November 28th
A release date of November 28th has been added my someone, citing a source form Play.com The Release date is cited at Nintendo.com for the 16th of November. Nintendo is definitely more reliable than Play.com, so I think that the release date shouldn't have the 28th anywhere on it. Any thoughts? Johnnywalterboy (talk) 22:18, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Nintendo said the release would be 3rd to 16 of November although it is subject to change. --Knowlege: Life's greatest gift, or terrible curse, how do you use it...? (talk) 16:47, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
WiiConnect24, "Sleep-mode" and town visiting - source does not confirm!
"Players can also put their Wii in sleep-mode and let other players visit their town, regardless if the town's owner is actually playing at the time of the visit."
I don't approve of this feature, it should be made optional, because if people can gain access to someone's town, they can destroy it, like around midnight. Unless there's an option such as "Town Restore" to restore the town to it's state before person(s) came to so-and-so's town. Some good features of Idle-Wi-Fi, would be, say you, A forgot a gold tool at B's town, B could come over, and drop it near your house, with a tag of "Only A can pick this item up" 24.167.98.156 - talk
The source given is this, and I cannot see any mention of the above included. It only mentions WiiConnect24 being used for the separate "city" area. - 78.143.208.218 (talk) 19:10, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Furniture decoration?
It says on the Animal Crossing wiki, (which doesn't, honestly seem too reliable) that you will be able to decorate furnature in this game. I haven't heard this anywhere yet and I can't track down any of the authors to find out where this fact comes from. Can anybody confirm/deny/give more info on this? -AtionSong 21:55, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
-I believe that came from a Katsuya Eguchi interview. Based on the interview, it was just discussion of the idea - not concrete evidence that it will be a feature in the game. - 4.154.88.12 22:44, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Release date
I removed the EGM release date info claiming it to be Fall 2007. Over on the Smash Bros. Brawl page, the editors decided it wasn't reliable enough, so for consistancy, I removed it here too. Please do not put up tentative dates without a source confirmed by Nintendo. 199.126.137.209 18:50, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
Do not claim to do edits that I had already done.
Someone put that the game would be released in late September. I'd like to know where you found that because everywhere I've seen it says that it will be released in Japan first and it doesn't seem to be coming out soon. 68.34.249.35 20:57, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Miis
In the Wii Channels article, it states that this game will use Miis for the main characters, but I don't see anything about it in this article. Someone in the know should take action. --Brandon Dilbeck 00:23, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

2007 Release Date
It has been revealed at a NoJ conference with retailers that Animal Crossing will be coming out in Japan in 2007. There are several reports confirming this. Why does this keep getting reverted from the main article? Thores 02:17, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Because it isn't referenced. Reference it and it can stay. Cipher (Talk to the hand) 19:37, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- Since then it has been cited within the article, but the release date consistently still gets deleted. Does the deleter think the citing is insufficient (I don't see why it would be), or does he just not notice this has taken place? Thores 23:49, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- We need to put that as the Japan release date, as most games aren't released at the exact same time, and there is no confirmed North American Release P.Shack 00:44, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Animal Crossing Wii 'mentioned' in Operations Manual.
I've added a sentence at the end of the article regarding a mention of sorts of the game in the Operations Manual. If anyone is against my addition, feel free to remove it. If anyone is concerned about the validity, go check a manual yourself. KaelinCadence 22:58, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Possible MMO
According to this source, Animal crossing Wii could be an MMO game. I think this should be mentioned somewhere in the article. Any suggestions as to how? --Filovirus 23:24, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- The problem is that it's a rumor. We should refrain putting it in the article unless Nintendo confirms it.Dengarde ► Complaints 23:52, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't know if this is noteworthy or not, but when you go to "acwii.com", it brings you to Nintendo's page. Does this confirm the title "AC:Wii"? Just thought I'd bring this up. walkingonthesun (talk) 02:57, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Club Nintendo Calender
I removed some info about a December launch time, a piece of info that was derived from a Club Nintendo calender. Just for clarification's sake, the calender says nothing about the Animal Crossing Wii release date. As I understand it, the December release time frame was inferred from the fact that Animal Crossing is used as a theme for that month and that Mario Kart is the theme for the month of April (Mario Kart Wii launches April worldwide). This pattern does not hold up to much scrutiny, as January has Mario Galaxy as its theme. If my reasoning is wrong, or if there's some other pertinent info that Club Nintendo (or anyone else for the matter) released, feel free to correct me. Entitled (talk) 03:51, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
June 27
IGN has this game listed under a 27/6/08 release date. IGN is a reliable source so it should be added. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.102.73 (talk) 12:30, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Wrong. In addition to the fact that it's already June 30th, why would there be barely any information on a game that would be released in two months? You'd think we'd at least have a screenshot, right? Plus, game sites/stores often list fake release dates to keep users/customers entertained. Couldn't we already put NA 2008. It's pretty obvious that this game will be released in NA. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.61.222.72 (talk • contribs)

Picture
What is with the picture used on the article? It looks like someone was playing on paint and pasted the Animal Crossing Logo. I think it should be removed and we should wait for box-art to be released. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.243.108.87 (talk) 19:27, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
- It's a picture of text, and under US law (see commons:Image:PD-textlogo), such a picture isn't copyrightable unless the text itself is copyrightable. A homemade logo created from the non-free GameCube or DS box art would not pass Wikipedia's criterion 4 of already having been published. --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 14:13, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- Wouldn't the logo shown at Nintendo's E3 conference be useable? If someone found a good enough picture/screenshot, at least.74.13.113.108 (talk) 17:34, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Too far divided
The page has been divided far too thinly. Instead of having multiple seperate sections of one or two sentences a piece, it would look better if the article was just a basic summary of what we know until we have more information to organize in such a manner. Right now it just looks very lacking. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.190.98.95 (talk) 06:12, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
I see your point. I've cleaned it up a bit! Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. 07:46, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- I've rewritten some and reorganized the page. The recent changes (i.e. splitting everything into tiny sections, and then the subsequent removal of sub-section headers), though all well intended, left the page in somewhat of a wreck. I did my best to fix it, though I'm willing to bet some info was lost when I made my edit. I'm in favor of not having tons of small sections, since as is mentioned above we don't have enough info to fill out lots of sections yet, but I'll leave it up to consensus. At any rate, the page was too much of a mess for me to leave it as is. Note about my edit: I intended the gameplay section, now currently labeled sectstub, to have a quick summary of animal crossing gameplay. I'll fill it in later if no one's done it by then. Also, I made a development section at the end, but I'm not confident that it should be there, or even exist. Entitled (talk) 10:47, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Meh, so how do you want it then?
Bleh so my layout wasn't good enough I take it? Guess I'll just stay out of everything for now then - I've got two whole threads in different languages to run anyway so if my work here isn't good enough, then go ahead and have it your way instead >< I don't feel like writing the same stuff over and over again just to see everything get erased.
You're all free to visit this thread at any time to update yourself on what's new in this installment of the series. I'll be sure to come here again later this week and see too it that you've got everything right. Over and out. ConraDargo (talk) 11:06, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
It isn't that your layout wasn't good enough or anything, it's just better suited for an article with much more available information to write about. It would be best to wait until we get closer to the game's release and have more to fill the sections with than to just have a very empty-looking page. 71.190.98.95 (talk) 22:53, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
I for one would say that the New element section is too cluttered as it is now, with all the new features that we know of - especially if you go into detail like just how the new auction house works and characters such as the shoe-shiner boy. But I'll let you decide. If someone still haven't summarized all the new features until next Monday then I might step in and try and do something about it. Until then I'll continue with my two threads instead (have a look for yourself and you'll see that quite a lot of beans have already been spilled about this game). Development Section
Hello. I'm a contributor to a Wiki hosted by Wikia, and I recently wrote about the development of this video game. Since it is my work, am I free under Wikipedia and Wikia rules to merge it with Wikipedia's development section or must I rewrite it first? The section in question has properly cited sources and most/all of the information comes from IGN.com which I have seen Wikipedia editors cite often. Thanks for your time. Category:Cancelled GameCube games
A Link to the Past (talk · contribs) keeps adding Category:Cancelled GameCube games to the article on the suspicion that CITY FOLK is the same game as Animal Crossing 2. It's equally likely that the codebase that would have been AC 2 became Animal Crossing: Wild World, and I can show evidence from the dialogue of Wild World to support this (villager chat about Katrina and Blathers' having completed his paleontology course). So unless there is verifiable evidence from a reliable source that AC 2 was reworked into CITY FOLK and not Wild World, I propose leaving this article out of the category. --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 17:58, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- That would make sense if ACWW wasn't in development at the same time. And an EGM way back in 2004 said that AC2 would have the ability to design your own furniture. - A Link to the Past (talk) 18:44, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- From the cat guideline:
- An article should normally possess all the referenced information necessary to demonstrate that it belongs in each of its categories. Avoid including categories in an article if the article itself doesn't adequately show it belongs there. For example, avoid placing a category for a profession or award unless the article provides some verification that the placement is accurate. Use the {{Category unsourced}} tag if the article is in a category but no sources demonstrate the category is appropriate.
- So feel free to put the category back once you have cited EGM and other reliable sources that connect AC 2 to CITY FOLK. --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 19:41, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- I've seen no proof this game was originally meant for the GameCube. Animal Crossing 2 was apparently planned for GameCube, but there is no proof that City Folk was originally that game. We can't assume this game was previously going to come out for the GameCube. No original research or speculation. RobJ1981 (talk) 19:48, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
