Alex buys Justin an enchanted dragon disguised as a Beagle, because she felt bad she had lost his other dog, Willie, years ago. However, since it can still breathe fire and fly they have to hide from their parents that the dog is a dragon saying it's a lost dog and gluing up posters. One day, while they're at school, the dragon seller comes back, claims the dog and enters it in the local dog show where Alex, Justin, and Max must outsmart the dragon seller and retrieve Dragon back.

Meanwhile, Alex searches for her father's trophy she also accidentally animated so she can learn the reversal spell to unanimate Justin's zit.

Justin wants to be chosen for the World School Summit at the U.N., but he faces tough competition from a popular classmate Alex is infatuated with. Alex plans to use a love potion to make him fall in love with her also helping Justin to sabotage his meeting, but she accidentally drinks both halves of it, causing Alex to fall in love with herself. Max gets his full powers and must wear a goofy hat to control them while his powers settle in, but due to Alex drinking both halfs of the potion she also needs the hat to avoid having a big head. This of course leads to trouble. | |||||

Riley breaks up with Alex seeing she is jealous all the time. She plans to make him jealous and transforms a mannequin into a man with the animation spell naming him Manny Kin. However, he falls in love with her and develops emotions, which prevents Alex from being able to change Manny back into a mannequin. Alex then tries to make Manny fall in love with Calico Woman, Justin's precious action figure by animating her too. Riley realizes that he himself got jealous and decided to go back with Alex. Meanwhile, Justin is left in charge of the house when his parents go out of town and his position of authority goes to his head. | |||||

The family prepares for Alex's quinceañera, a traditional celebration to mark her 15th birthday, but she doesn't want to wear the customary frilly ball gown and casts a spell to swap bodies with her mother, who never had a quinceañera of her own. Also, joining in the party is Grandma Magdalena, who tries to teach the boys how to salsa dance. But she soon forgets to teach the boys so they use the Body Switching spell with the dance instructors to make it look like they had learned the dance. In the end, Alex does make it back to her body before sundown, and Grandma Magdalena finds the Magic Lair but thinks it is a wrestling room.

The team is winning, but Alex's cheating could cost Harper the opportunity to academically lose. Meanwhile, Max and his friend Alfred think they can sell bottled water from the school's water fountain that everybody says tastes the best. The new character Dean appears in this episode.
