"I Hate This Part"
Song

"I Hate This Part" is the third single from Pussycat Dolls' sophomore studio album Doll Domination in the US and the second single elsewhere. It has received heavy airplay in Australia and New Zealand. It was released in the U.S. to mainstream radio on October 21, 2008.

Song Information

"Whatcha Think About That" was meant to be the second single in Australia, but it was cancelled as "I Hate This Part" started getting high radio play. It was the most added song to Australian radio on its first week of major release[2].

The single was also released in the UK, instead of original second single "Whatcha Think About That". The song is currently climbing charts around the world.

The Dolls performed the song live for the first time for a "Wal-Mart Soundcheck" on the Wal-Mart website. They performed the song for the first time on television on October 15 on the Australian morning show titled Sunrise. They performed the song again for The Ellen DeGeneres Show on November 3, however it was not aired on television and instead appeared on the show's website as an online-exclusive. The Pussycat Dolls performed "I Hate This Part" at the American Music Awards on November 23, 2008.

Music video

According to their YouTube page, a music video was shot on 28 September 2008, also the day of Melody Thornton's birthday.[3] The video is based in the desert. Two sneak peaks of the video were leaked onto the internet in early October, and it shows Nicole Scherzinger singing in a road on desert and The Pussycat Dolls dancing in the rain.

The full video premiered on October 10th, 2008 .[4], with it officially premiering in the United States on TRL on October 15, 2008. The video was added to the iTunes Store on October 17th, 2008 available in the original version and an exclusive 7:55 minute long version, which includes Lady GaGa's hit "Just Dance" music video too.

The video starts out with Nicole playing the piano to the beat of the song, and images of a book and flowers blowing in the wind. When the acoustics begins, there is a shot of all the girls on the road with a broken down car. During the chorus the girls are seen walking away from the car on the road and dancing to the beat of the background. While Nicole is singing in the desert alone, Jessica is shown trying to wave down a passing car with her bandanna. All the girls are than shown on top of many broken down cars during the bridge of the song. During the second chorus, the girls are seen in sync this time with dance moves on the sand. All the girls are than shown in different elements in the desert: Nicole in front of the broken down car with a wolf, Jessica in a parking lot on top of an arcade machine, Ashley walking in a parking lot with a pink stuffed elephant-doll, Melody with a flower, and Kimberly in a broken down pick-up truck. During the climax of the scene Nicole is singing during an incoming storm at night. The girls are than shown in the same scene as before while dancing in sync, but this time, it is raining and the girls are dancing while wet. The music videos ends with an eruption of emotions from all the girls, climaxing with a clip of Ashley comforting Melody who is in sadness. The video closes with Nicole still playing with the beat of the background on the piano and a butterfly on her hand, before ending with a shot of the rain-soaked girls united in an embrace.
