Rumble Fighter is a free-of-charge, 3-D, online fighting game developed by Gretech and Nimonix, and published by OGPlanet. The game is a translated port of an original game called Gem Fighter (젬파이터) which originated from Korea. As of now, Rumble Fighter is only open to users residing in the United States and Canada.[1] As Rumble Fighter progresses in development, new additions may be implemented in the game.

Rumble Fighter is a casual fighting MMOG in which players may battle with each other, or as teams. The game allows players to choose between several fighting styles, which are known in-game as "Sacred Scrolls". With its "ExoCore" system, players are able to undergo transformations during a battle. Such transformations change both the player's appearance and his or her fighting abilities.[2]

Additionally I SUCK DICKS, players are given the option to have a large amounts of customization by purchasing clothing and items using one of two currencies: "Astros" or "Carats." Although the game is free to play, users are able to buy Astros, OGPlanet's universal online currency,[2] which may be used to purchase in-game items normally unavailable by other means. Other items may be purchased with Carats, the currency exclusively used in Rumble Fighter, which are usually obtained by winning battles. Players may also buy clothing or accessories for their characters from the item shop, which, upon equipping, may affect their stats, such as HP, SP, strength, armor, speed, and jumping capabilities.

Plot

A long time ago, an evil spirit known as the Shadow King planned to conquer the world and consume everyone in it. Many fighters fought hard in trying to defeat the evil king, but unfortunately some could not overcome the evil and became consumed by his power. These consumed fighters were known as the Dark Guardians. The Shadow King was defeated when fighters captured his evil spirit with the Sacred Seals and placed it underground in a location known as "Resurrection".

After the defeat of the Shadow King, the Dark Guardians disappeared into the darkness as they waited for the perfect opportunity to strike again. The ancient Guardian fighters who fought and defeated the Shadow King, gathered together and handed down their special powers to others for the war against evil. These fighters placed their powers into entities known as ExoCores, so the power could be utilized in the future for other fighters if evil ever returns. Fighters known as "Guardians of the Seals" were given these ExoCore abilities to continue the fight against evil. The only way to keep the Shadow King from resurrecting is by protecting the Sacred Seals that contains him. The Seals are the only entity that keeps the Shadow King from returning. To ensure that the Seals were never to be joined again, Guardians secretly placed the Seals throughout the world. The Dark Guardians, however, soon discovered that destroying the Seals was the only way to resurrect the Shadow King. The Dark Guardians searched high and low throughout the lands to locate the Seals. Eventually the Dark Guardians were able to obtain and crush some of the Sacred Seals. With the power of the seals beginning to weaken, the shadow king was able to utilize some of his powers to instruct the Dark Guardians to create corrupted ExoCores to initiate an even more powerful attack to bring the Kings resurrection closer.

Currently, there is a huge war of good versus evil in the fight for the Sacred Seals. With the Seals weakening each day, the hopes of victory for the Guardians are starting to slip away. In preparation for the very worst, a Rumble Fighter Tournament is being held to recruit the best fighters from around the land to aid in the great war.[3]

Gameplay

Upon logging in, players will automatically enter a channel. Currently, 6 channels exist in the game, each generally separating players by their skill level: "Beginner", "Amateur", "Semi-Pro", "Professional", "Open", and "Tournament". Players may be promoted or demoted to different channels based on their performance in battles. The Open channel, however, is available to all players, and the Tournament channel is opened only on certain occasions.

On the bottom of the screen there are four buttons. The item shop, My character, the buddy list, and a gift list. In the item shop, there is a variety of fighting styles, ExoCores, clothing, and accessories, which, upon equipping, may affect their playing abilities. Players may choose to spend their carats in the item shop. In the My Character section, all of the player's fighting styles, ExoCores, clothing, and accessories are stored. Players are able to change their appearance, or fighting abilities in this section. In the buddy list, players are able to look through and chat with their friends upon accepting their friends request. In the gift list, players are able to gift any item they might choose in the item shop, and gift it to any friend they like.

Combat and levelling

There are stats in Rumble Fighter which can help your character in fights depending on how high they are or how they are set, the different types of stats are Strength, Defense, HP, Speed, Jump, and SP. Different types of clothing have stats on them, so then when your character wears them, he/she will have their stats increased or decreased if the clothing says it deceases that or those stat(s), stats can also be gained from gems that players can put into their outfits. Soul Fighter classes usually make their speed and strength over all stats, and other soul fighter like having speed and jump higher for certain techniques. Alchemist classes usually have Defense then strength as overall stats, but other Alchemists like to be tanks and have as much defense and HP as they can. Most Strikers usually have strength and then defense as overall stats, but some like to be powerful and go all out strength. Last but not least, Elementalists usually have SP then defense as top stats, but some other Elementalists like to have all SP.

The "Guardian" rank is a special role a player can earn when at level 20. To get it, the player must beat the "Survival" mode 3 times. Once you get it, you will be able to wear Guardian clothes, (Special clothes that are powerful, each class has a guardian set.) and be able to use the special ability "Nanmu", which allows the player to use all their scroll's attacks in one big combo by pressing the V key when their Exocore is not on.

Game Modes

In each channel, a list of rooms is provided. Each room may hold up to 8 people. The objective and conditions to win a battle are dependent on the game mode and settings that the room creator has set.

Battle Mode

As an individual or a team, players are given two minutes to fight with one another. Points are awarded at the end of each round, and are based on performance in battle. The team or player with the most points at the end of the game is declared the winner.

Bonuses

In a game involving more than two players, various bonuses may be given to players if they have fulfilled certain conditions during battle.[4]

Name Bonus Condition
Best Combo 30% more points Have the highest combo in a match, if a tie the one with the most combos landed gets it.
Best Down 15% more points Most KOs
Best Hit 30% more points Most damage dealt
Best Point 30% more points Most points in each round.

Rumble Mode

Unlike Battle Mode, which primarily focuses on fighting, Rumble Mode adds several dynamics to gameplay.

File:King of Hill.jpg
A typical single match set in King of the Hill
Arena

Players are provided with a rather confined area in which to fight, and are given an unlimited amount of lives. In this mode, the objective is to defeat the most opponents within the time limit. Once a character is defeated, he or she will automatically respawn elsewhere in the area. This continues until the time limit is reached.

Caged Beast

The round begins by having two opposing players placed in the center of the arena. All other players are left in cages, watching the fight between these two players. When one of the players fighting in the initial 1-on-1 is defeated, a player on their team is released from the cage, replacing their teammate's position in battle. This continues until the time limit reaches 60 seconds, at which point all remaining cages are broken, thus setting all players free and beginning a battle in which all remaining players are involved.

King of the Hill

This mode may be played in teams, or as a free-for-all. All players are given 2 minutes to reach the top of a given hill, trying to stay on its peak for as long as possible. At set intervals, a flag is awarded to the current player on top of the hill. Once a player is in possession of three flags, the three icons are then replaced with a larger flag. The first team or individual that has four of such sized flags is declared the winner.

Moving Screen

Unlike Battle Mode, the arenas offered in Moving Screen are continuously moving in a single direction. If a player cannot keep up or goes too quickly, he will fall off the screen, consequently resulting in defeat. Opposing players may knock others off the arena using various combative techniques. Once the time limit reaches a certain point, the arena will cease to move, leaving players to fight within the remaining time.

Potion Battle

This mode may be played in teams, or as a free-for-all. Principally, the objective is to fend opposing players from a blue bottle, while consuming its contents. When a bottle spawns in an arena, an arrow appears to indicate the bottle's position relative to the player. Once a player reaches the bottle, they may pick it up by pressing their assigned punch button, thus causing the arrow to disappear. They can then press it once more to drink it, which, during the moderate amount of time it takes to fully consume, quicker players can attempt to knock them down, causing players to drop the potion. The player who drinks the most bottles is declared the winner.

Stages

There are many stages in Rumble fighter that masters of game rooms can pick from. Each stage has very different looks and qualities. Some stages can be very big, like Zen Temple, and some small, like Ring Of Death, players usually like playing on bigger stages since it gives more room to fight for people. Stages like Taurus Temple, and Hangar, are in a mode called Rumble mode, but most of Rumble Fighter's stages are placed in battle mode.

Character Classes

Rumble Fighter features four unique character classes, each with its own set of strengths and weaknesses. Depending on the character class a player chooses, he/she will have access to different options of clothing, Sacred Scrolls, or ExoCores with which to equip his or her character with. A player initially chooses one character class to start playing as, but may purchase additional classes through the use of in-game Carats. Another note about character classes in Rumble Fighter is that gender plays a slight role, as it affects the stats a character has, although the difference is minimal. Currently, there are four character classes in Rumble Fighter.[5]

File:RF Striker1.gif
Striker

Striker

The basic martial arts specialist, Strikers are strong in physical strength and close combat. This balance makes them ideal for beginners. When using overdrive mode equipment, their close combat skills are even further heightened. Strikers possess the top base HP and Strength out of the available classes. Also having good astro items with +str can help you win battle with dealing more damge in single blows.

File:SoulFighter1.gif
Soul Fighter
Soul Fighter

Soul Fighters are aptly named because they have the ability to hunt other living souls for power. Strong in hunting, but weak in fighting, their winning strategy is to hit-and-run, making them better for experienced users. With their overdrive mode equipment, they can morph into beasts or take on other forms. Soul Fighters possess the highest base Speed and Jump out of the four classes.

Elementalist

Elementalists have strong psychic powers which makes their special skill attacks quite useful, while their offense and defense abilities are weak. Their winning strategy is fighting with their special skills from a distance. Their overdrive mode equipment can summon various elemental spirits into battle. Elementalist possess the top base SP out of the four classes, but also have the lowest base stats in HP, DEF and STR.

File:RF Alchemist1.gif

Alchemist

Skilled in the arts of transmutation, Alchemists have gear which offers great defense, but with speed being their obvious drawback. So their winning strategy always involves defense first, then strong attacks with their special skills second. Their overdrive equipment can make huge armor or mechs. Alchemists possess the highest base armor out of the four classes, but also the lowest base Speed and Jump. But they also have more hardware to battle with.

Character Items

Rumble fighter includes various items, which can be used to show one's uniqueness and characteristics. The items not only include facial, head, bodily formation, but also has many combinations of accessories. By selecting different items of your own type, you can in essence create your own personalized character, distinguished from any other characters. Creating the character yourself in your own unique style will help you to grow intimate with the character and with the game itself. There are special items that are limited that players can get from holidays and events. Character clothes, accessories, exocores, and scrolls will be updated every other Thursday in an update.[citation needed]

Sacred Scrolls

Sacred scrolls allow the player to change their fighting style in-game. There are various styles from all around the world, including capoeira and two forms of drunken fighting. There are also several styles specifically made for the game, including street and renegade. These offer a variety of combos and abilities, from the unblockable haymaker of shoot boxing to the flying kick of dragon style. This leads to several styles of play, the most common being juggling, a skill which uses numerous attacks to keep an opponent suspended in the air with no hope of defense.

Every character starts with Default, which can never be lost. At level 2, after completing the tutorial, every player is given the renegade scroll, available for 10 days. Scrolls are bought in the item shop, but can also be found in certain mystery boxes, albeit with a 5 day limit. There is an exception for the Sage Master scroll, which, if lucky enough to be found, will allow you 30 days of play.
