Nintendo Puzzle Collection (NINTENDO パズルコレクション) is a compilation of puzzle video games published and developed by Nintendo for the GameCube home video game console. It was released in Japan, and was intended to be released in North America and Europe until it was announced that it was cancelled in both regions. It contains three video games: Dr. Mario 64, an enhanced remake of Yoshi's Cookie, and an enhanced remake of Panel de Pon (the Japanese version of Tetris Attack).

Gameplay

Dr. Mario

The game is a port of the American release of Dr. Mario 64, as Japan did not receive the game on the N64. The game is identical to the Nintendo 64 version: a story including Wario Land 3 characters, a four-player mode, and new songs (Cube and Cue Cue). Also, secret characters can be unlocked after Story mode is completed on Hard. Though the game is essentially the Nintendo 64 version, all references to the N64 have been removed and the game is named 'Dr Mario', not 'Dr Mario 64'

Aside from the updated graphics and music, the game is the same as the SNES version. A four player mode is included.

Panel de Pon

The remake of Panel de Pon features updated graphics and sound, new characters, and the 3D game mode first seen in Pokémon Puzzle League. The game itself is very similar to PPL in terms of sporting the all new modes, except for the four-player versus mode not available in Pokemon Puzzle League.

Game Boy Advance connectivity

Nintendo Puzzle Collection supports GameCube-Game Boy Advance linking, allowing the player to download a downgraded version of one of the games to their Game Boy Advance. They include the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Dr. Mario, the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Yoshi's Cookie, and an original version of Panel de Pon which lacks the story mode and selectable characters like Panel de Pon and Tetris Attack have. The downloaded game is stored on the Game Boy Advance's memory, and will remain until the Game Boy Advance is shut down.[1]
