Madden NFL 2003 is an American football video game. It features then-reigning NFL MVP, and St. Louis Rams running back Marshall Faulk on the cover. This edition of Madden was the first to feature EA Trax. The game was released on August 12, 2002 for the Game Boy Advance, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and the Xbox. It is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB, as well as G for General by the OFLC in Australia.

Game modes
Madden NFL 2003 features eight different game modes. The modes include; Play Now (Normal or EAsy Play), a mode in which you can play as any team in the NFL, with its default roster, against any other team, with its default roster in one-on-one or multiplayer games. Franchise mode, a mode in which you take over as the owner of a NFL franchise and run the team during the pre, regular, post, and off seasons in an attempt to make the team the best in the league by drafting rookies, signing free agents, releasing players, or trading for other players. Tournament mode, a mode in which one or more players may participate in a single or double elimination tournament. Football 101, a mode that teaches players about all the plays in the game, and how formations can help you in games. Situation mode, a mode in which players must complete games in a certain user created situation. Practice mode, a mode in which players take control of a NFL team and practice any teams offensive or defensive playbooks. Mini-Camp, a mode in which the player moves from NFL city to NFL city where they must complete and pass different training camp drills to receive trophies to earn Madden Cards. And the Two Minute Drill mode, a mode in which the player must score as many points as possible in two minutes.
Unlockable features
Andrew W.K. and the members of Good Charlotte are playable characters in the game, and become free agents through the use of Madden Cards.
Roster errors
- Bruce Matthews is the starting center for the Tennessee Titans despite having retired by the start of the season.
- Retired quarterback Mark Rypien is listed as a free agent.
- Ryan Leaf appears as the backup quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks despite retiring before the start of training camp.
Soundtrack
