France and Faroe Islands were also drawn together in the previous FIFA World Cup qualifying round, while these two along with Lithuania were drawn together in the 2008 European Championship qualifying round. France met Romania in the UEFA Euro 2008 group stage, where the two played to a draw.
Lithuania and Romania are able to qualify only via the UEFA playoff.
Faroe Islands will be certain of 6th place (ensuring their results do not count for the second-placed teams ranking) if
They fail to beet Lithuania, AND
Romania do not lose to Austria

The representatives of the six federations met in Vienna, Austria on 8 December 2007 to decide on a fixture calendar.[1] The August 2009 date in the international match calendar was moved forward by one week, from 19 August to 12 August, at the FIFA Executive Committee meeting in May 2008.[2]
