Welcome H2g2bob, to the WikiProject Computing/Computer and Information Security task force! WPB to WPBS

Hi,

We're not really supposed to change WPB to WPBS on pages without consensus. It avoids arguments. Mind changing it back ? :) Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 19:53, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request to move article Richard Wilson (Scottish actor) incomplete

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Richard Wilson (Scottish actor) to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added a place for discussion at the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved. This can easily be accomplished by adding {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the page, which will automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 03:03, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Eva cross explosion.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Thanks for uploading File:Christmas broadcast 1957.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Money.ogg

Hi, I've been working on the The Dark Side of the Moon article which is currently at GAN, and wondered if you would mind if I replaced your upload with my own? The reason being that the licence won't really allow two versions to co-exist (one will have to be deleted), and the two samples I've uploaded to the article are from the same album, and therefore amplitude matched. Drop me a line on my talk page, let me know what you think. I'll probably upload a third track, "Us and Them" maybe. Parrot of Doom (talk) 20:25, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Dark Side of the Moon Money.ogg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Dark Side of the Moon Money.ogg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Parrot of Doom (talk) 16:30, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Gratefuldead logo.png)

Thanks for uploading File:Gratefuldead logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:59, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed you've participated in discussions at the music samples guideline's talk page, and I was wondering if you'd like to weigh in on my proposal regarding sample lengths. Thanks. Timmeh 01:41, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, of course. It seemed like a good source until I read it properly. I notice the source for this in Labour Friends of Israel also fails on closer inspection. --h2g2bob (talk) 19:33, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It seems another attempt has been made to censor this page by removing inconvenient details.

I attempted to put things back but as a write of narrative verse and not a computer person I may hve done somenting that would not meet with your approvel although it look alright to me

I am finding that H2g2bob has a track record of deleting inconvenient details of MPs - not matter how true, or backed up by external source material. Is there something that can be done about such blatant abuse? Md010101 (talk) 17:47, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Provide the script for Deletionpedia?

Have you considered sharing the script used for exporting articles from Wikipedia to Deletionpedia? I would be very interested in this. You are welcome to email me. Rumpsenate (talk) 05:55, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with deleting overly prurient personal stuff, but the expenses stuff should (surely) be there. And I'm not a sock puppet, I'm a human being! - MPhammer —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mphammer (talkcontribs) 15:22, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just a reminder...

Please watch for vandals deleting requests to Wikify the article /Gregoire_Seither. Someone deleted yours from last November without adding any in-line citations as requested by one of the templates you requested; today I've added Notability & No footnotes templates. Appears to be a "vanity" page for self-promotion of his arts/activism; at least some of the groups he's a part of also had WP articles created about them w/out inline citations, but at least look like notable groups (covered in press, albeit fringe publications). Please either check each 6 months or so (it took someone approx that long to delete your templates, which were 100% justified), or I'll leave it up to you since you're more experienced on WP editing than me: Should it be deleted _immediately_ as it's a living person?24.155.205.244 (talk) 10:59, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sion Simon

H2 - why do you continually delete a version of Sion Simon's page? If you watch the linked source, you'll find that he actually says what is quoted in the article.

By deleting without confirming the source - which you clearly have not, otherwise it is abundantly obvious - seems to imply a political bias in your deletions. I hope not. Md010101 (talk) 17:47, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Margaret Beckett MP

You have added a [who?] tag into the MPs expenses section where I state that she is widely considered to be impenitent about her expenses. The previous section contains a description of - and link to - her Question Time appearance in which she condemned herself by her own statements and behaviour. The Sunday Times article of 23/08/2009 further reinforces that widespread impression of her views and attitude.

I daresay that if I look hard and long enough I can find a published article in which the words "arrogant" and "impenitent" appear. They certainly do in the comments to the online articles. Roaringboy 08:03, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi - not sure how to proceed further with the editor who keeps reverting the Expenses Scandal info; seems it may actually be someone who works for him. Little grape (talk) 14:05, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does your bounty award still stand? I'd be happy to improve up to ten articles. Let me know if this offer still stands and I'll see what I can do. Himalayan 10:26, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Paddy's Girl

Hi Dave

Thanks for responding to my query.

I don't mind sharing the images I've had created for my book on Wikipedia, but what I'm trying to do is check that I've not inadvertently misrepresented the concept of TCP/IP (in terms of the importance of disaggregating the IP from the TCP), and also that I've visually explained the role of the IMPs (interface message processors) and TIPs (terminal IMPs) from the early days of the internet, c. 1970.

I'd have emailed them to you via the Wikipedia email service but couldn't see how to upload .pdfs.

Thanks for your help
