I noticed he wasn't on the list. Charles is known all over youtube, he deserves to be on the list. I mean, he's #18 on most subscribed comedians of all time on youtube right now, and though he's not number one or two as I think he should be, thats still pretty impressive. http://www.youtube.com/user/charlestrippy?blend=1&ob=4 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymous248 (talk • contribs) 03:02, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

I started an article on Davidsfarm. It should be added to this list. B. Scott
I believe he should be added for his large following (a factor helped by his "perez hilton style" celebrity blog website (http://www.lovebscott.com/), his ability to gain interviews with celebrities (Nene Leakes, Kandi Buruss and Jordin Sparks as examples) and his activties in the NOH8, anti proposition 8 in California campaigners. Not to mention he already has a Wiki page here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._Scott --86.26.110.119 (talk) 23:39, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
Rick Astley?
I thought the basis for inclusion was those who become famous largely because of their YouTube videos. Rick Astley was already famous years before YouTube existed. For that matter, most videos of "Never Gonna Give You Up" as found on YouTube are examples of pirated copyright infringement.Docsavage20 (talk) 19:14, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Agreeing with the statement, Rick Astley did not create his fame through YouTube. As previously stated by Docsavage, his fame was through his music career. He then became a meme in the Internet and he did not make himself famous, but other users have. I suggest a removal of his name on the list, for it questions the criteria for notable YouTube celebrities. --Esanchez(Talk 2 me or Sign here) 00:11, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Daniel Danny Grozdich
I think he should be on the list, because he's been making the Gradual Report for almost a year now, and he is very famous. Ray William Johnson and Dave Days. Why not?
How about Ray William Johnson? He's got one of the most viewed shows in YouTube. He uploads two new episodes each week and a great number of people watches them every day. I don't mean that he should be added to the list because of that, just because he is an actual good comedian and makes interesting videos and they are interactive with viewers.
I also think that Dave Days should be added to the list because he is a great musician in many different music styles as well as comedian, and he is one of the most subscribed musicians in YouTube.

Ronald Jenkees
Definitely deserves to be on that list... has at least 5 videos with 3+ million views, 1 5 million view... has since released 2 albums and produced a song for an ESPN sportscaster, all because of his videos. www.ronaldjenkees.com, just search Ronald Jenkees on youtube, pick any one of his songs, they're all amazing. - Do you have sources outside of YouTube? The amount of views on a persons videos dose not make them notable on Wikipedia's notability standards. The site http://www.ronaldjenkees.com/ is not a reliable source since it is self published. Kyle1278 03:53, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

List of YouTube celebrities → List of notable You Tube artists — I can't believe this page will be kept due to having no consensus... This could be another option. --Travis Thurston+ 06:42, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Suggest as an alternative List of notable YouTube contributors. Firstly, YouTube is the correct spelling, not "You Tube". Secondly, many people who post videos on YouTube are not artists in any conventional or meaningful way, so "contributor" would seem to be more accurate. 84.92.117.93 (talk) 23:24, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Shane Dawson continued discussion for his own wiki page...
Okay i tried submitting this message like 5 seconds ago and an error came up saying english wikipedia was having like server problems or something... anyway shortened the message this time hope it goes through just like to say my 2 cents worth of an opinion that Shane Dawson of youtube celebrity has now over 1 million subscribers and many video views. He has created different personas and characters. I honestly think he is notable enough for his own wikipedia page... but just saying thats what i believe at least... must be sources somewhere for Shane that could help... and he has also been going through medical surgery so thats big too... I know his page got deleted due to voting for deletion but if someone could please reply back to my message and he has a huge fan base btw also... Anyways let me know what u people think... thank you for your time. --Collaz45 (talk) 19:19, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Terroja Kincaid/The Amazing Atheist
I remember a discussion about this guy before. He meets all the criteria for being listed on this page. For some reason, he has been removed. The reasons why he should be included: - He meets the criteria of being sited in mainstream media, as he has been interviewed in wired magazine and the Times of London for a prediction he made about a Finnish school shooting, and is mentioned in the wikipedia article about this shooting (http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2007/11/youtuber-warned/, http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article2848488.ece , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jokela_school_shooting). - He has close to 100,000 subscribers on Youtube (#50 Most Subscribed "Director" of ALL TIME) - He has used his "internet celebrity" to sell books he has authored. - He has expanded his internet fame into other web sites, being interviewed on several blogs. - A google search of "The Amazing Atheist" (IN QUOTES!) returns over 5 MILLION pages. - He is listed as the #96 most popular internet celebrity at iStardom.com, the only site I know about that catalogs internet celebrities. (http://www.istardom.com/Theamazingatheist) - He has his own Encyclopedia Dramatica page (A site dedicated to internet memes, celebrities, and "famous" drama on the internet) - There is NO REASON why he shouldn't be included in the list. He is EXACTLY what we are talking about when we say 'YouTube Celebrity". He should be the POSTER BOY of this page. His IMAGE (as ugly as he is) should be at the top of this page. Can anyone give me a SINGLE REASON why his entry was removed? If not, I will add this entry again. He has a lot of enemies, which makes me think that his removal was PERSONAL rather than based on wikipedia standards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.168.95.202 (talk) 22:35, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Dan Quinn
Ridiculous that he does not have a wiki page - still more ludicrous that he is not even mentioned here. He is literally one of the most famous fighters ever thanks to his insane youtube ramblings in the last year
His first channel had 200,000 views, his second had 45,000 in its fairly short existence, his once deleted videos have tens of thousands of views each despite being re-uploads...... someone include him. I'm sure he was once in this list? Some halfwit delete him? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.107.136.144 (talk) 04:42, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- Please read the top of the page the amount of video views or subscribers on YouTube dose not make them notable you need to provide sources out side of YouTube. Kyle1278 02:37, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
title
Should the compass of the article be broader than "YouTube"? Possible "List of Internet video celebrities" in order to not promote one specific site -- even if the majority of the list is from that site? Collect (talk) 16:14, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
- I suggested "List of internet video artists" at the AFD, although something like "List of notable contributors of internet videos" or "List of internet video contributors" might be a good idea as well. If we consider getting rid of the "YouTube" in the title, we should also remove the "celebrities" part. Maybe an RFC is in order? Regards SoWhy 10:03, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
SoWhy's suggestion is good, a lot better than the previous naming. The current title is good. A RFC would be a good idea. It is clear there is consensus to keep this list although I personally don't think it a valid encyclopedia article... But if we must keep it lets try to avoid words like "celebrity". I anticipate I'll be swiftly reverted from trying to address this grossly subjective title and article, but can somebody please do something about the word "celebrity" if me MUST keep this "article". Thankyou. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:23, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

How should this list be titled? SoWhy 20:22, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
To hopefully avoid further moving of this article (after it has been moved twice in two hours now), I want to use this way to request more input on this simply question that unfortunately has no simple answer. The scope of this article is notable people (per WP:BIO) whose notability resulted from internet video sites (like YouTube). As such, the word "YouTube" in the title probably needs to be changed, just like the previously used word "celebrities" (the current "personalities" is not really better imho though). I hope someone has a short and concise title suggestion that nevertheless reflects the scope of this list. Regards SoWhy 20:22, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- There is an
open[now closed] WP:RM move request in the section above headed Requested move. Station1 (talk) 00:01, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- "Personalities" works better than "celebrities". "Celebrities" is too POV while "personalities" is more neutral. Besides, I wouldn't call any of them celebrities in the way that Brad Pitt and Brittney Spears are celebrities. The issue with "personalities" is that it's vague, but I guess that would be a problem with the article's established scope and not just the title. ThemFromSpace 05:14, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Standard for notability?
Has there been any kind of standard or notability test devised by Wikipedia to decide which people merit being included in a list such as this? I think that requiring merely that they be referenced in "reliable sources" is vague and very much open to interpretation (and, therefore, dispute).--Witan (talk) 05:07, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
