Patrick Swift
Hi i've tidied up some of the references in this article. I think some of the additional reading refs could be incorporated as refs to the text. i will look at some of them and try and do some copyediting. Well done on your first wiki article. You might gather from the changes made how to appropriately reference and wikilink. In references from books you may know the chapter and page details which are helpful. You can reply to me here and I will see it. I came across John Ryan many years ago, a very interesting individual, and I think he deserves a wikipage of his own as does Envoy and The Bell magazine.Cathar11 (talk) 19:21, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- Many of the Further reading appear to be sources for the text. Perhaps you could reference themCathar11 (talk) 19:32, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- I have a photo of the first Bloomsday leaving from outside the Baileyor across the road from the Bailey. Its copyright so cant be used but I dont think its in any of the books on him. Copyright on photographs are a problem under Irish Copyright law. Cronin, Kavanagh, Ryan and Myles na G. are on a horse drawn taxi(?) before their trip to Sandycove.Cathar11 (talk) 21:23, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, His portrait of Kavangh wasnt on the 1972 complete poems. It must be a later edition. The 1972 edition dustjacket had a copy of the handwritten poem lines written on a seat erected in memory....Cathar11 (talk) 14:00, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hey. You are totally right. You know Kavanagh well. The reference i saw was on open library and it actually refered to the centenary edition of the same book. However i can't comfirm this anywhere else so have removed it. Are you still thinking of doing Ryan? Could start with a stub i suppose.

Reginald Gray
Every now and then in the course of deleting articles, I come across something marked for deletion that deserves rescue. Such was the case with a bio of Reginald Gray. Reginald would be very grateful if you could improve it. Currently it is at User:Idbuca/sandbox. — [[::User:RHaworth|RHaworth]] (talk · contribs) 00:14, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks Roger but I'm afraid I really have no information on Gray other than what is on his blog. I'm not sure why his page was deleted but if he has a picture in the National Portrait Gallery that's a least some grounds for his inclusion? Best wishes
Commons
The preferred place for uploading free-use images is the Commons. Did it cross your mind that other Wikipedias, specifically the Portuguese one, might also like to use the images? — [[::User:RHaworth|RHaworth]] (talk · contribs) 01:09, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- Dear Roger Hawthorn. Thank you for the suggestion. I will keep it in mind. However, as I am sure you are aware, in an encyclopedia it is extreemly rare for a photograph of an artist, or work by a particular artist, to be used in any other context other than their own entry. I would also like to point out, again, that the entry Patrick Swift is about Patrick Swift. It would be helpful if people who have no interest in Patrick Swift did not contribute unecessarily to the Patrick Swift wiki entry.
Images you are uploading
It appears to me that all the book cover images would be covered by copyright and can't be uploaded as CC. They would need to be fair use. something lame from CBW 18:08, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
- In the case of David Wright his widow, Oonagh Swift, is more than happy with book images on net. Image of the book will only make people more likely to buy the book itself and read his poetry. With Sisson I'm sure the same would apply but have put it under Fair Use. - Actually, as my interest is really only the entry itself I've done the same for Wright.
- If his widow want's the book covers released under CC then that's OK but she would need to let Wikipedia know. something lame from CBW 20:01, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
- To be honest, images of the books don't really need to be on CC- they're just there to make the particular entry more interesting. Can't imagine anyone using the image and a google search will produce the image anyway.

Possibly unfree File:The.Dublin.Magazine.jpg

You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Fred the Oyster (talk) 19:47, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- For the sake of simplicity I've put the image as fair use. It's only there as a visual representation of the magazine- an arts magazine founded by a poet that ceased publication over 50 years ago.

Kavanagh Montague
As far as I am aware it was Montague that acted as editor of Collected Poems (for Martin Green) most/all of which comes from previously published works. Kavananah did not know of Montague's role. I will ask Antoinette Quinn when she is back in Ireland from her place in the sun. I've been on a wiki break for the last month.Cathar11 (talk) 03:33, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. Left you a note on your talk page. Green makes his feelings on this quite clear in a letter to The Guardian.
- Sorry been very busy. Montague did the dog/legwork for Greene on thestrict understanding that PK was not to know of his role. I presume his work was, of an academic nature, to trace the poems to their published versions. I cant remember whether i heard Montague talk on his role or saw it on a documentary. I presumeyou are the person who put up Swifts website so I'll email that page (mamana) to talk more directly.Cathar11 (talk) 21:51, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Please delete this when you have read and contacted it pie777 at in dot com and we can talk.Cathar11 (talk) 22:15, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
