WGHT (1500 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, USA. The station, established in 1964, is currently owned by Mariana Broadcasting. WGHT broadcasts an oldies music format.[1]

History

WGHT signed on in 1964 as WKER. As WKER, WGHT served as a test market station for radio stations like 77-WABC in the 1960s. The station was assigned the call sign WGHT by the Federal Communications Commission on August 6, 1993.[2]

Awards and honors

The station has been an NAB Marconi Radio Award finalist, NAB Crystal Radio Award finalist, and has received Associated Press News Awards. WGHT's local sports department has won dozens of awards for their sports coverage and broadcasts. WGHT's news department has been honored with awards from the Associated Press and the New Jersey Broadcasters Association. WGHT's General Manager is John Silliman, Program Director is Jimmy Howes and the News Director is Deb Valentine. WGHT Radio has a long history of being a launching-pad for Syndicated, as well as, New York City Radio Talent. Dozens of legendary on-air personalities have work at WGHT Radio.

On-air personalities include The WGHT Morning Show Hosts Jimmy Howes & Greta LaTona, PM Drive Host Art Rooney, Mid Morning Host Teisha Bader, and Mid-Day Host John Silliman. Other on air talent includes Tommy DeAngelo, Pat Murphy, Rich Appel, Lew White, John Esposito, Rich McCarthy and Jimmy Sturr.
