I will reply on your talk page unless you request otherwise.

Hi, thanks for creating Book:Louis Armstrong. However, as of now, no one knows it exists, so it would be a good idea to go on relevant Louis-Armstrong-related pages and add {{Wikipedia-Books|Louis Armstrong}} in the See also or External links sections. This way, other people will be able to read this book. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 08:22, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Same for Book:Johnny Cash. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 08:27, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And probably the same for all these. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 08:48, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is my intention to do it, but there are some problems with some redirected pages, and I would like to fix all of them before. Anyway, thank you so much for your message. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 09:17, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Book:Louis Armstrong and Book:Johnny Cash are problem-free as far as I can tell. No redirects or anything like that. Other books may still have some problems (see their talk pages for how to fix them).Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 09:19, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I added both books to the External links sections in the relative pages. I will do the same for all other books I created very soon. Once again, thank you. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 10:00, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, good work on finding these books covers and fixing problems as you came across them. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 21:33, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so very much! I think that this idea of collecting articles into books is really great. Time permitting, I hope to contribute to creating new books and fixing problems on already existing books. There are some issues to sort out. It would be great if we could include only parts/sections of an article. For example, to skip an entire section when it contains the link to the main article about it, so we cold be able to insert the main article into the book, and then return to the next section of the previous article... and so on. I have other ideas more or less useful and more or less feasible. Maybe one day I will write something about these ideas on the WikiProject related to books. Cheers! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 16:25, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, it's become pretty standard to link the book in the relevant navbox (such as in {{Lady Gaga}}), and it's much effort than placing {{Wikipedia-Books}} in zillions of articles. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 17:58, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MOTD Problem

The Motto that I suggested, this one, was copied to the specials section, and the one you approved was meant to be ignored, unless the other failed. And of course, I didn't catch it. Before you closed the one that you did, that motto already was scheduled to be on May 25, Towel Day. Since mottos supposedly can't be reused, can this one not be on Towel Day now? Or do we just get to all hope that nobody notices? :) Hi878 (talk) 21:34, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have a question, it's in the specials section. I'd appreciate an answer. Hi878 (talk) 19:23, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I meant the question was in the specials section. :) Reply here, I'm watching you page. Hi878 (talk) 18:21, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm gald you liked it (^_~). While I was visiting your talk page I saw those barnstars awarded to you for finding two secret pages. I found both of them immediately (^_~) but I have not signed the related pages (^___^). I've also discovered about 3 or 4 of your secret pages ~ lol ~ but, unfortunately, I've found the archived debate of the proposed deletion of your 5+1 hidden pages :(! ... WTF! This world is full of people who have nothing better to do! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 18:29, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Damerung's secret pages weren't too terribly hard to find, I must admit. However, I only found the class-4 one because of the page history. :) You should sign them, you'll feel important when you get the barnstars. :) You should sign mine, too, see if you got the right one. Anyhoo, I'm glad we could figure this whole MoTD thing out. Hi878 (talk) 01:04, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done (^___^) pay attention that one of your pages is not blank! ~ ROFLMAO –pjoef (talkcontribs) 12:57, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Don't do that. Believe it or not, I call that vandalism. Sign the pages, or stay away. And if you do sign the pages, there are instructions at the top of the page that you apparently didn't see. Hi878 (talk) 04:01, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry that I snapped at you. Your signature didn't a[[ear in any way, so I thought you were just adding that. All that could be seen when I highlighted everything was the ROFLMAO,so I got a bit mad about it... And blanking the "Wrong Seret Page" template added to that idea. I saw it, but apparently forgot to undo it. Anyhoo, sorry for snapping at you, just please don't do that. IF YOU REPLY, REPLY HERE, I HAVE YOUR TALK PAGE WATCHED Hi878 (talk) 19:34, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No worries (^___^)
I was reading the class-1-6 tips on Damërung's page and I thought to do that (^___^) Unfortunately I'm new to this kind of thing (the secret pages) /o\
Anyway, it's very simple, just use the display CSS property inline in a HTML element and set it to none:
<div style="display: none">hidden text</div>

I think it is on another wikipedia or on another Wikimedia projects, but I had not time to find it out.

I have not removed it because I do not want to be tagged, but because it falls over the navigation panel at the top of my pages. As soon as I find a solution and get it working, I will put it back. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 08:04, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Thanks. :) Hi878 (talk) 18:32, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your page has been conquered by the Earth Cabal!

Hello. I am here to inform you that your userpage or talk page has been conquered by the Earth Cabal. Please don’t panic; there is nothing you can do about it. You are hereby invited to join the Cabal, and help conquer other pages for our cause. See User:Hi878/Earth Cabal for more information. Thank you, have a nice, irregular weather day, and welcome to Earth. Hi878 (talk) 04:24, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MOTD – How you can help?

You can review and comment the nominations in the following sections: In review and Specials. The second section is for mottos/nominations for a specific date, but the most of the nominations go in WP:MOTD/N/IR. The discussion process is the same as on Featured picture candidates. If you approve or oppose a nomination, just write Support or Oppose followed by your reasons. You can also suggest changes to improve the existing nominations. If you have an idea for a new motto place your suggestions on those sections for review and consideration, and follow the instructions there for the correct procedure on how to do this. A nomination should be not approved if it has been used before, and it's also a good idea to create a set of links that points to Help, WikiProjects, Policies, Guidelines, Essays pages and NOT TO ARTICLES IN THE MAINSPACE (The encyclopedia part of Wikipedia.) For more information, please see Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Guidelines. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 07:34, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MOTD: Hiding Q

Are you hiding from us? There have been thirteen nominations since you last nominated one. :) Hi878 (talk) 00:28, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, I am not hiding from you (^___^). Usually, I nominate a couple of quotes and do all the work for the discussions, approval and archive processes once a week on every Tuesday or so. But, in the last three weeks I had to be back on the approval process again and again, and in a couple of times I had to approve a motto for the same day in which it has been scheduled. So, on May 13, I have decided to invite some editors, who placed —and are proudly showing— a MOTD's template on their user/user talk pages, to join our project for revamping it. Now that things seem to be going well and it is all clear, I think I will return to my weekly job (^___^). However, yesterday I was pretty busy, but I remain at your disposal. All the best. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 07:40, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you are wondering about the above message, it was sent out to almost everyone involved in the project (missed a couple and did not do permanently retired or banned users) to encourage contributions. I hope this is okay. Simply south (talk) 17:01, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It was not just "okay", but perfect!!! Well done!!! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 17:24, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Should i put it as a standard template (spelling mistakes included)? Simply south (talk) 19:58, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Assessing films

Hi Pjoef. Note that there is a bot removing the obsolete film banner parameters (needs plot, needs cast, etc) currently in operation, so these shouldn't be re-added. See the history of Talk:It's a Bear, for an example and a link to the bot's page and the owner's talk page. Thanks. Lugnuts (talk) 18:16, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can't recall the exact discussion, but I do remember arguing against the removal of needs-cast-list, as I thought that was an important maintance category. I'm sure someone on the project's talkpage can find you links to previous discussions, if needed. Lugnuts (talk) 07:39, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a revolutionary; money means nothing to me.

Support (both versions, there is not a big difference between them) + comment: I think that the Poet of Piano was not paid for his Étude Op. 10, No. 12. La Pianista, check out this link when you get a moment. I would like to know your opinion. It's not Richter, Ashkenazy, or Pollini... but he is studying this Revolutionary piece of Art, and IMHO he is making progress. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 07:49, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re Pjoef Yes, he's making progress (is that perchance you playing? :). It's better than many others' renditions I've heard - believe me, I've heard many. Sure, there are more than a few things I disagree with, in which I will indulge myself by speaking in uncomfortably large detail.
Better right hand legato - he has the hand for a 5-4 octave pair if he wanted to. He should relax the lower voices in practice and work on that legato between 5 and 4. It is supremely important to keep the other fingers relaxed, else the legato will not be natural, he'll hit wrong notes, and some notes won't even sound. Purely as an exercise, he could play the chord, play every voice but the top staccato, and keep the top molto legatissimo.
More voicing in top of right hand - he can do this by subtly angling his hand towards the smaller fingers, thus putting more weight there.
More carefully-planned resolutions - 0:40, for example. The D should be softer than the E-flat before it. If you were to sing this passage, you wouldn't do the opposite, would you? It is ungraceful (not that he was doing that - he was playing them at equal dynamics).
Better tone control by keeping the hand close to the key - this mostly applies to the right hand. If he put his hand on the key before playing it, he wouldn't have that wooden, physical bump that comes purely from a quick descent straight into the keybed. It's that "knock-on-wood" sound that's barely perceptible but makes a huge difference in the end. In addition, a lot of energy is wasted in the force that is rebound, per Newton's third law. If he kept close to the key, he could play loudly with a quick burst of energy and immediately relax (after all, what use is there for tension after a key is played? The sound decays immediately, there's nothing you can do) and prepare for the next chord.
Reduce the amount of extraneous movement in the left hand, especially the chromatic 1:07 section- it's good to keep the arm free, but too much movement is more of an impediment than a help. It throws the hand off balance and creates more tension as the pianist tries to keep things straight. Like Dr. José Feghali once mentioned in a masterclass I attended, capable pianists don't have to convince themselves of relaxation with unnecessary movements. Freedom should be felt within and observed through paying close attention to what their body is telling them. Of course, total relaxation is impossible (else, pianists would be reduced to a drooling, half-awake mess that has fallen off the bench), but we should strive for minimal tension at all costs.
Most minor thing of all - I would recommend not letting go of the right hand during the left hand "solo" passagework. For one thing, it is slightly unprofessional, and his body language shows that he is struggling. Inner dialogue: I'm so focused on this left hand right now. In the meanwhile, let's get this right hand out of the way.
Overall, relatively small things, besides that bit about relaxation - as you say, he is no Richter. If this etude has caused him any pain - even a tingly sensation in undesirable - I would strongly advise him to be careful and start some relaxation exercises, which he may find in Alan Fraser's book, The Craft of Piano Playing (which I cannot link to on WP, since it would be spamming :P ). —La Pianista 06:42, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so very much for your exhaustive and omni-comprehensive explanation and analysis. We can all see that you are &#147;La Pianista&#148;!!! NO, it is not me. My grandmother was a piano teacher, but I have not had the luck and the pleasure of learning to play the piano. I'm just a &#147;music lover&#148; and I like to listen to all kinds of music from the Renaissance (des Prez/Palestrina...) to the present day (Mars Volta). eLi is a very good friend of mine. I meet him in 2006 or 2007 on U2be. I was not only fascinated by his style of playing the piano, but also by the way he is and for his great soul ... eLi defines himself as a &#147;piaNOwarist&#148; ... and he is also a great person and a friend! I am very happy with your answer. I have copied this comment here so it remains among my things and memories, and maybe (and if you want) I would like to send the link to him so he will give it a look. Hope it will help him with the The Revolutionary Étude". I think that you are not one of those "easygoing" piano teachers, but a "sqeezer" who squeezes their pupils like lemons until the last drop of "blood" left them (^____^). I'm kidding. In other words I want to say that you tend towards perfection (on playing the piano, of course), which is a great thing. Thanks again! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 11:39, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No problem at all and thanks for your compliments! Go ahead and send the link to him - I'm sure he'll be interested. —La Pianista 21:49, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Summer 2010 MOTD Barnstars

For the original text, the intro, and the discussion, please see the section below.

The Lists

The message/motivation should be something like is:

This award is given to you for helping out Motto of the day. Thanks to your effort, MOTD has brilliantly and successfully passed the most difficult period of the year. In fact, there are mottoes scheduled until the end of the summer. For this reason MOTD would like to express heartfelt thanks to you for your support. We appreciate your efforts in further helping the project!

Note: candidates/usenames/contributors who (IMHO) are NOT eligible are struck through.

Also, I think we should award some old contributors who are now not so "active", but with a different motivation. For example:

"This award is given to you for your long time and outstanding support to Motto of the day. We hope you will be back soon!"

Code:

If I forgot to list some "OLD ...but important" editors/contributors to MOTD, please add them to the list.

Summer 2010 MOTD Barnstars Discussion

Thanks for your attention. I've placed 11 (eleven) talkback templates on the talk pages of the decision makers/archivists of MOTD and the most experienced/long time contributors to MOTD:

Approved (per consensus; 8 in support and 0 opposed; ROFLMAO) –pjoef (talkcontribs) 07:12, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to award our participants with the {{MOTD Barnstar}} because we have mottoes until the end of the summer, but I would like to do it on behalf and in the name of our project. So I need/want your support and I will wait for your suggestions and opinions about it. For more info and a comprehensive list of eligible contributors please CLICK HERE! (I copied most of the contents here in the above section.) Please, reply here on this talk page (you can also edit these sections, of course, because, if we go on with this proposal, we will use these lists and messages.) Thank you in advance. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 12:27, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for the offer. On the sandbox page, numbers are listed beside the names of each user, for example mine is 4 (4/0). I understand that the number represents the number of edits each user has made in a specific time period, but what are the numbers in brackets? Also, do we just take a barnstar with the message shown on the page and timestamp it? I do realize I created this barnstar, by the way. xD Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 14:47, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm asking all of you the permission to do it on behalf of MOTD. Then, either I or one of us will deliver the barnstars. The lists come out from the following two queries:I think that the first number into the round brackets is the number of "good" edits and the second is the number of deleted/reverted edits on that page(s). Please, check out if I did it right or not! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 15:16, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, the number of contributions to the decisions section by person may not be respresentative of how many they close. Whenever I've closed mottos in the past, i do not do them individually but close them in bulk when there are more than one to close. Also, what of other older editors that have contributed to the project in the past but have not been seen in the past few years? Or am i blowing this out of proportion? Simply south (talk) 17:28, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, what of the deletionists who have contributed through deletions? E.g. Amalthea (talk · contribs)? Simply south (talk) 17:31, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I've copied and pasted both lists from the toolserver.org page. The number of edits (IMHO) is not very important, the sum of 3 edits in the Nominations and Decisions/Archives section and not in the same day seem to be enough to me. I think that the barnstars/awards will "spur" (a bit) new & old contributors. It was something I would liked to do on last Christmas/New Year Day, but I was very busy (as always ~ lol) and I didn't. I copied the list on top of this section... and Amalthea is not in that list. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 18:23, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Amalthea is the current resident deletionist i go to when the schedule has been archived. They do batch deletions on the months, hence why previous months in the schedule are redlinked. Simply south (talk) 19:35, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well i thought this was just about recognising people who have contributed to MOTD, especially recently. I think he should but i don't know where he should be placed. Simply south (talk) 22:00, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I think he is the man who increased my number of deleted edits from a couple of dozen to 381 ~ lol ~ I added his username on top of the firt list. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 22:23, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, so you want to give us barnstars, but you want my support for it? I can't find a reason for me not to want barnstars. :P SimonKSK 17:39, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, something like that ~ lol ~ I could give you ALL the barnstars but (porbably) I will receive back tens of barnstars ~ lol ~ and that is not my intention, so I would like to form & have the consensus for delivering the barnstars in the name and on behalf of MOTD. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 18:31, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nice idea. BTW what are the ticks for? Kayau Voting IS evil 09:29, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is not a scale or a unit of measurement. The idea is to award all the contributors and supporters of our project. I took into consideration the period from the nominations (25 May 2010) approved for the first day of summer (21 June 2010) until yesterday (20 July 2010). Then I crossed out who did just one edit and only in one day. In any case, the list is above, any suggestion for the inclusion or exclusion of usernames/editors/participants is more than welcome. Feel free to edit the above list(s) and to write a rationale (here or there.) –pjoef (talkcontribs) 10:35, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think this is a great idea, even though it would leave me with two MOTD barnstars. Don't forget one for yourself! But in that case, if you're the one giving out the barnstars then wouldn't the message be shown as self-awarded? ~AH1(TCU) 14:28, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That is NOT a problem (^___^)!!! Anyway, I would like to ask Simply south (as senior editor of MOTD) if he is available and want to deliver the barnstars on behalf of MOTD, and, in this case, I will give the award to him. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 15:04, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I like the idea. I'm all for it. And yes, the "Hi878 isn't home" account is mine. Unbelievable that you weren't sure about it. :) I don't think that I need one of them, though, unless you think I need a third one of these. :) ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 00:48, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So...the candidates for the barnstars are voting on whether or not they'll get one? Sweeet. Strong support fifty barnstars going to La Pianista. I don't know her very well, but rumor has it she's Tabasco.
Hot.
Sauce.
In any case, great idea, pjoef! I only have one complaint, though...where in hell's bathroom are you? I demand to see pjoef on that list immediately, or I shall play John Cage for forty-eight hours straight. In your bedroom. —La Pianista 04:20, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a huge fan of John Cage and I was on his train, in search for the lost silence, together with a progressive rock band, musicians, poets, actors, and artists of (or closer to) the Fluxus movement. The train was stuffed with loudspeakers, microphones, tape recordings, amplifiers... all producing random stuff and sound, and all under the direction of John Cage. So, it would be a great pleasure to listen to you playing (for 8 hours ~ not a minute more or less!!!) the Music of the MAESTRO!!! Seriously, I think that the consensus has been reached. Now, I will ask Simply south, if he wants to deliver all the awards, otherwise I will do it. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 07:12, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just realized something. You seem to have forgotten about the Specials page. :) Seems I'm the only one who doesn't. ;) ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 17:28, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's all encompassing. Btw, i can't really award myself though but i will do all the others. Also there is no top person really although i suppose i could be called senior for being the project's oldest (lengthwise) still-active editor. And I'll do the others. Simply south (talk) 17:35, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My goodness, La Pianista! Why did you have to do that! Pjoef was the only one with a higher number of edits to the In Review page than me, so now I'm number two... Sniff... :P ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 20:48, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is no problem with the Specials page. I copied the two lists and their codes on Simply south's talk page. And, he is delivering the barnstars. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 21:16, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Missed a rascal as it is blocked... Simply south (talk) 23:12, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd just like to say thanks for my barnstar - unexpected and much appreciated! &#0149;martyx&#0149; tkctgy 08:59, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I had the "idea" but the decision was taken collectively, and, on behalf of our project, I thank you for your support to MOTD. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 10:06, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Summer 2010 MOTD Barnstar

I realised you cannot self-award the barnstar, so here is yours:

The MOTD Barnstar
This award is given to you for helping out Motto of the day. Thanks to your effort, MOTD has brilliantly and successfully passed the most difficult period of the year. In fact, there are mottoes scheduled until the end of the summer. For this reason MOTD would like to express heartfelt thanks to you for your support. We appreciate your efforts in further helping the project! – delivered by Forty two on behalf of Wikipedia:Motto of the day 20:41, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note

I mentioned you in a blogpost here. If you don't want your name mentioned please tell me at my talk page, not here. Thanks Kayau Voting IS evil 06:37, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Norfolk Coast

Hi

I noticed your edits to the Norfolk Coast db page. It may have escaped your notice but the Norfolk coast does not stop at Winterton - It may be that "some people describe you as a genius" but I think that genius sometimes leads to missing the obvious :¬)

Can you perhaps return there and change it ? While I appreciate that the majority of the coast of Norfolk is indeed covered by the AONB but Hemsby, Newport, Scratby, California, Caistor-on-sea, Great Yarmouth, Gorleston and Hopton-on-sea could get very upset if they are not included as part of the coastline ?

This was something I tried to keep in mind when I edited the db page - it needs changing to become factually accurate.

Are you something to do with an association linked to the AONB?

Chaosdruid (talk) 15:41, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And of course the point I was making is that "the Norfolk coast" is not the same as "the Norfolk coastal AONB"
You have changed the definition of "the Norfolk Coast" to be "the Norfolk Coastal AONB" which is much shorter.
"Thanks for the advice, but... ~ lol ~ I've just copied the first line from [[Norfolk Coast AONB|its own article]]" - No you did not. You copied the first line from "Norfolk Coast AONB" and put it in a disambiguation page for "Norfolk Coast".
You may not have noticed but the article "Norfolk Coastal AONB" is not an article on "The Norfolk Coast" and is not about the whole of the Norfolk coast? I should correct your mistake ? I do not think that your idea is appropriate. I think you should fix your own mistake.
Chaosdruid (talk) 17:51, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please see: Organization of disambiguation pages. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 19:01, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why ? do you think that a Stranglers album is more notable than the coast of Norfolk or is there some other point you are trying to make. Chaosdruid (talk) 19:19, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That was the reason why I added the introductory line with The North Norfolk Coast area, but that is just a portion of the Norfolk Coast (I did not know about it before.) So, it is not the primary topic. Also, entries should be ordered to best assist the reader in finding their intended article. And, IMHO, the alphabetical order is always the best solution. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 19:54, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for understanding my point on the coastline being more than just the AONB - the reason the rest is not included is that many of them are true seaside towns with beach–fronts made in the classic Victorian style and piers etc as well ending at Gt Yarmouth and the "wonderful" docks (lots of oil and gas pipeline supplies and terminals). I am also a Stranglers fan and have been since I saw them in Manchester in the late 70s - although my brother was a much bigger fan and was inspired by JJB to take up Thai boxing later that year :¬)
I can see your reasoning there although the small point of factoring notability in on that matter can also be mentioned. I would prefer that the stranglers album is not at the top due to the Google search results. I know that the Wiki traffic is marginally higher for the album but I'll let you see what I mean.
Norfolk coast by the Stranglers : Google search [1] gives 36,400 results : Wiki traffic 306
Norfolk coast : Google [2] gives 2,830,000 results (although you can subtract the 36,400 that are prob in there from the stranglers also)
I cannot really do a Wiki traffic to summarise the coast itself but if we were to take just Happisburgh alone that would give 742 and Great Yarmouth would give 5,707. To be more fair we could do one on just one beach in the AONB say Holkham and Holkham bay gives 966 +75
Perhaps you can see why I seem a little insistent now Chaosdruid (talk) 20:19, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes! Great band! One of my favourites. The Stranglers' album is now at the bottom of the list, but I think that a factually accurate introductory line about the Norfolk coast would be the best solution. I tried to find out something about that place, but I found articles about the North Norfolk Coast and a lot of family resorts (^___^). –pjoef (talkcontribs) 21:12, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Christmas motto series

Hi! As a contributor to the MOTD, I thought I would draw your attention to a discussion for a possible Christmas Motto series. If you get a chance, could you please pop in and give your thoughts? Thanks! Stephen! Coming... 15:56, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That one on the 1st January was already a part of another special nom and should not be moved. I have already mentioned this there with different wording. Simply south (talk) 19:43, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

the Public Policy Initiative Assessment Team wants You!

Hi Pjoef, I got your name from the Editorial Team participant list, and wanted to tell you that we will be testing out assessment metrics in the Wikiproject: United States Public Policy. It looks like a lot of your interests are policy related, and I was hoping you would be interested in assessing articles with the Public Policy Initiative. There is more info about assessment on the 9/13/2010 Signpost. If you're interested or just curious you can sign up on the project page or just contact me. Thanks! ARoth (Public Policy Initiative) (talk) 16:26, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for joining the PPI Assessment Team. There is a request for you to review some articles and a description of assessment logistics on the WP:USPP Assessment Page. ARoth (Public Policy Initiative) (talk) 16:50, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PediaPress renderer for Wikipedia Books

I thought you might be interested in this. Basically, this would give you access to the PediaPress renderer used to print books and should allow you to review book as they would be printed (minus covers). If you find errors and problems, please report them at Help:Books/Feedback.

You either received this message because

  • You edited several books
  • You are part of WikiProject Wikipedia-Books. (If you aren't, please free free to join in. We'll take any help we can.)

WikiProject:The Clash

Hi...I haven't actually contributed anything yet but I used to hang with and work for them from the earliest days of making The Clash album to when Mick got kicked out/Cut The Crap so I know a lot. I was especially close to Joe Strummer; he was like a big brother to me. I was even in his short movie Hell W10. The problem is, most of the stuff I can contribute can't be sourced since we didn't have the Internet then. I guess I could best help in an advisory capacity if you'd like to use me for the Project. Plus I have a bunch of pix.--Piepie (talk) 18:42, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
