Proununciation?
Could someone please add a pronunciation guide for the name of this city? --LostLeviathan 22:26, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
It starts with a sound like a y then there is an a as in cat followed by a sound like kill. I have no idea how to express that in pronounciation language, SqueakBox 22:43, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Please consider this vocalization based on the American-English language: GUA-YA-QUIL
"GUA" as in "WA"shington (Washington)
"YA" as in de"JA"-vu (deja-vu)
"QUIL" as in in "kill" (kill)
then, you can read it as: WA-JA-KILL
I hope this helped. W.E.R.S. nov-28-2006
Why does it pronunciated "WAYAKILL", why not "KWAYAKILL" like other Spanish gua- words? 202.57.146.225
What you mean like Kwatemala (lol), SqueakBox 17:22, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
"References" and "External Links"
I did just move two links which i was sure of to be more logically placed in "External Links" than "References". Some of the other links i think maybe better in external links than references, but i'm not sure. perhaps the original editors could give advice about the original intentions?
Links in question:
- Map of north and central Guayaquil
- Guayaquil Information
- Old Photos of Guayaquil
- Photos of Guayaquil I
- Photos of Guayaquil II
and the following links i feel do not really provide any noteworthy informationeht therefor i think they should be deleted, anyone any opinion about that?

"The past year"
The reference to "the past year" should be changed to the specific year. Erudil 23:19, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Schools
I don't think that a Study abroad learning center can count as a higher education institute. Therefore Blue Hill College should be eliminated from the article
BCH is more than a Study Abroad learning center. They do offer a few university level degrees. It should stay there. Alpv (talk) 22:51, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Jaime Nebot's party is no longer partido social cristiano
The partido social cristiano no longer exists under that name, now its called "madera de guerrero", an allusion to a city's folklore song. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.188.53.214 (talk) 13:58, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually, "Madera de guerrero" is a movement rather than a party, and the "Partido Social Cristiano" (PSC) does exist, and mayor Nebot is still affiliated although somewhat distanced. Photo overload
This article is beginning to more closely resemble a tourist brochure than an encyclopaedia, and the resultant impression is very different from the city that most of its residents know. I reckon that at least half of the pictures should be culled, or at least moved to a gallery section: I could be bold, but would rather invite people to nominate here which ones we can live without. Questionable Dates
"In 1800 Guayaquil had a population of about 2,000 people; by 1700 the city had a population of over 10,000." The history section could use a little cleaning up by someone knowledgeable of the area, I think. -Shredator —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shredator (talk • contribs) 03:25, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
guayaquil's pic
the main pictures should be changed... because not all the people from guayaquil likes barcelona... im not asking to use the capwell's stadium pic, but at least use a pic from the modelo's stadium —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.255.74.147 (talk) 01:23, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
