Hurricane Irene

(logged-out user, not a sock) Please stop that. The "current storm information" section with the warnings and the preparations sections are there to do that work. And also, that header you put is disruptively long. 71.175.53.239 (talk) 13:42, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also the info you want to draw attention to is in a section named Current storm information, and it's only two paragraphs long. It really doesn't need it's own header tbh. OptimumPx (talk) 13:48, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to add to this. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia, not a news source. HurricaneFan25 13:54, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Acroterion (talk) 13:53, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Get your head out of nit-picking and get your head into making the article more useful and lifesaving.

You are right that the title is too long--

But either of you could fix that / improve that rather than making nit-pickiness more important than GETTING LIFESAVING INFORMATION OUT TO PEOPLE.

    • Some people will die because they think it's only a Category One storm-- so guess what-- a title that explains that the storm is deadly due to its large size and flood-driving ability, not wnd speed WILL PROBABLY SAVE SOMEONES LIFE SO LONG AS EDITORIAL NIT-PICKERS DON'T INTERFERE.

WHY NOT COME UP WITH A BETTER SECTION TITLE RATHER THAN NIT-PICKING AWAY RATHER THAN FIXING A LONG TITLE AND HELPING TO SAVE SOME LIVES!

69.171.160.28 (talk) 14:00, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's not about that! It's about that 1) your header is too long and 2) there are already sections in the article about evacuations and 3) you are edit warring. And please don't shout. It doesn't help. HurricaneFan25 14:03, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you can work within Wikipedias rules to make the article more lifesaving--

So do it! It's just a title that needs to be shortened and made more clear AND IT WILL SAVE LIVES TOO. So don't worry if we are CNN or Wikipedia. ANYTIME YOU CAN FOLLOW THE RULES AND SAVE LIVES, DO IT.

69.171.160.28 (talk) 14:17, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Let me get this straight. My main concern is the lengthiness of the header. We change it back because of the Manual of Style and the standard tropical cyclone article format style. You change it back saying it can save lives. We change it back because it is too long. Again and again. We are NOT a news source. HurricaneFan25 14:24, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1 user is NOT consensus. HurricaneFan25 14:32, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked temporarily from editing for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Acroterion (talk) 14:43, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

69.171.160.28 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I should be unblocked because 1) My section title (in the "Hurricane Irene" article) was reverted 3 times and then I engaged in discussion, and most of those posting acknowledged that the real reason for the reverts was the overly long title. I then shortened the title, so I was not edit warring because I did not exceed three reverts-- my last edits were NEW titles that were shorter as per discussion. 2) This is a shared IP address, the other warnings on this talk page do not pertain to any of my edits. 69.171.160.245 (talk) 15:03, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=I should be unblocked because 1) My section title (in the "Hurricane Irene" article) was reverted 3 times and then I engaged in discussion, and most of those posting acknowledged that the real reason for the reverts was the overly long title. If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

{{unblock reviewed |1=I should be unblocked because 1) My section title (in the "Hurricane Irene" article) was reverted 3 times and then I engaged in discussion, and most of those posting acknowledged that the real reason for the reverts was the overly long title. If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here with your rationale:
