Data cleansing

Dear Ben Ben, please don't delete the reference to DataTune in the Data cleansing page. This is not an advetisement. DataTune no longer exists. It was one of the first products to automatically perform data cleansing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Datatune (talkcontribs) 14:21, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In case anyone would read this: Done it, it doesn't hurt. Given me the (illusionary?) warm feeling someone at the WMF pays attention to their patrolling slaves.--Ben Ben (talk) 16:23, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, don't worry about fixing any minor errors in the various lists of shipwrecks in 1940. Once I've finished adding the rest of the ships from the Wrecksite database, I intend to give each and every section a thorough copy edit. Mjroots (talk) 20:27, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I appreciate that you upgraded the Article but what do they require another equal symbol on each end of the topics?--175.138.109.154 (talk) 10:35, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's described here: WP:BODY. ... Heading 1 (=Heading 1=) is automatically generated as the title of the article, and is never appropriate within the body of articles. Sections start at the second level (==Heading 2==), with subsections at the third level (===Heading 3===), and additional levels of subsections at the fourth level (====Heading 4====), fifth level, and sixth level. ...--Ben Ben (talk) 10:53, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I understand about "Heading 1" position in the article as the title but you lost me about the rest there. Anyway, thanks for the explanation.--175.138.109.154 (talk) 10:57, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The rest was to keep the structure of the article the author intended. As I moved L1→L2 I also had to move L2→L3 and L3→L4 aso. [1].--Ben Ben (talk) 11:04, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ben Ben, in WMMT, you removed the opening square brackets from "[[owned and operated station", which clearly had been intended to be an article link. (Actually, "owned-and-operated station".) I've re-linkified it. --Chaswmsday (talk) 16:14, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for notifying me. It's WWMT and Owned-and-operated station is just a bit too US-centric for me, didn't know. You never stop learning.--Ben Ben (talk) 16:31, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Altered speedy deletion rationale: El Guerrero

Hello Ben Ben. I am just letting you know that I deleted El Guerrero, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 18:39, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your notice. Puh, G8 was a bit dorky from me, had to be A9.--Ben Ben (talk) 18:44, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Content deletion: Bravolol

Dear sir,

1 page contributed by me has been deleted: "A tag has been placed on Bravolol, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information."

What is the meaning of tagging? I did not do that? Can you tell me what should I do?

Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mthk (talkcontribs) 20:32, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please see your talk page. There you have notices about the tags placed on your article. If you follow the blue links you will get the information you need: section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. --Ben Ben (talk) 11:23, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my name is Larry Levine, and I was listed under the Wiki Heading Prison Consultant for several years along with many others. Whatever changes you have done eliminated information on myself and other longtime consultants. You need to revert back to the way the page was on 22 Oct 2011 before all these people jumped in and started making changes. Your major deletion just about killed the history of the profession. By visiting the wikipage on me Larry Jay Levine, you can see I have been listed and referenced by every major news organization in the U.S. and world wide. CliffC usually moderates the Prison Consultant page.

Hello, I tried to explain my view with my edit summary. Please read WP:NOTPROMOTION. Where this leads to you can see on the new entries about MJS and JF. Discuss this on the articles talk page, where all contributors to the article can follow the discussion and participate. --Ben Ben (talk) 11:50, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CONTESTED DELETION OF User:Alsoleftbadcanada

That is my userpage hence i highly doubt that i launched an unwarranted attack upon myself — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alsoleftbadcanada (talkcontribs) 16:01, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think your account is only used for vandalism, not one of your edits indicates that you want to support the project. Have stated this there.--Ben Ben (talk) 16:17, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Footless Crow page

The deletion of a well respected online climbing and environmental blogazine is mysterious? Why is another outdoor zine 'the Angry Corrie' for example allowed a page ? "95.148.1.8 (talk) 14:14, 29 December 2011 (UTC)"[reply]

Hello, who stated mysterious? The reason for deletion was: (A7): Article about a web site, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject. For the other article: WP:ININ. Maybe because it's print based and not a blog? I don't know. --Ben Ben (talk) 15:25, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Re deletion of the Footless Crow page: If you cared to peruse the list of contributors and supporters of the site you might have realised it's importance and significance within the UK climbing community. The deletion appears based on ignorance I'm afraid. "95.148.1.8 (talk) 16:33, 29 December 2011 (UTC)"[reply]
...significance within the UK climbing community... That's it: This is not inside your community, this is an encyclopedia. --Ben Ben (talk) 01:11, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion on Beat the Bully

Hello, Ben Ben, I noticed that you tagged Beat the Bully for speedy deletion under criterion A7. I have contested the speedy deletion because the article's topic is neither a real person, individual animal(s), organization, or web content, hence it is outside of the scope of A7 (see A7 scope for more). Thanks, Quasihuman | Talk 11:34, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

G11 and db-multiple

Thanks for patrolling new pages - a tedious but essential job! A couple of comments on Fides Mediador de Seguros, Lda and its companion, which you tagged db-multiple with A7 and G11:

  • G11 is only for "Pages that are exclusively promotional, and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic. Note: An article about a company or a product which describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for this criterion." This was a quite neutral description of the company, without any advertising hype. No doubt the intent of listing it was promotional, but that's not what G11 is about.
  • I don't myself much like "db-multiple", because it doesn't give the article author as much information - it just says "see the page", which has probably gone. If there is one definite criterion which applies, I think it better to use that. If both A7 and G11 apply, better to use A7, otherwise the article author my think all will be well if he just removes a few adjectives.

Keep up the good work! Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:38, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your detailed explanation. No more G11 if it's apparently intended but not demonstrated.--Ben Ben (talk) 11:58, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Good. Btw, I've just zapped Allied Insurance Brokers Angola which claimed to be: "known for it's strong insurance expertice, high levels of service orientation, and depth of linguistic capabilities" - that was a valid G11, though A7 also applied. JohnCD (talk) 12:05, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd noticed in your first message that you didn't mention this one.--Ben Ben (talk) 12:18, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ben. Just a note that I removed your PROD on this article - I agree with your reasoning, but given that the article was previously deleted via AfD, a G4 tag is more appropriate. Cheers, Yunshui  19:53, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

H Yunshui, you've been faster than me: [2]. --Ben Ben (talk) 19:59, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
