Content deletion: Bravolol

Dear sir,

1 page contributed by me has been deleted: "A tag has been placed on Bravolol, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information."

What is the meaning of tagging? I did not do that? Can you tell me what should I do?

Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mthk (talkcontribs) 20:32, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Please see your talk page. There you have notices about the tags placed on your article. If you follow the blue links you will get the information you need: section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. --Ben Ben (talk) 11:23, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi, my name is Larry Levine, and I was listed under the Wiki Heading Prison Consultant for several years along with many others. Whatever changes you have done eliminated information on myself and other longtime consultants. You need to revert back to the way the page was on 22 Oct 2011 before all these people jumped in and started making changes. Your major deletion just about killed the history of the profession. By visiting the wikipage on me Larry Jay Levine, you can see I have been listed and referenced by every major news organization in the U.S. and world wide. CliffC usually moderates the Prison Consultant page.

Deletion of Footless Crow page

The deletion of a well respected online climbing and environmental blogazine is mysterious? Why is another outdoor zine 'the Angry Corrie' for example allowed a page ? "95.148.1.8 (talk) 14:14, 29 December 2011 (UTC)"

Hello, who stated mysterious? The reason for deletion was: (A7): Article about a web site, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject. For the other article: WP:ININ. Maybe because it's print based and not a blog? I don't know. --Ben Ben (talk) 15:25, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
Re deletion of the Footless Crow page: If you cared to peruse the list of contributors and supporters of the site you might have realised it's importance and significance within the UK climbing community. The deletion appears based on ignorance I'm afraid. "95.148.1.8 (talk) 16:33, 29 December 2011 (UTC)"
...significance within the UK climbing community... That's it: This is not inside your community, this is an encyclopedia. --Ben Ben (talk) 01:11, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion on Beat the Bully

Hello, Ben Ben, I noticed that you tagged Beat the Bully for speedy deletion under criterion A7. I have contested the speedy deletion because the article's topic is neither a real person, individual animal(s), organization, or web content, hence it is outside of the scope of A7 (see A7 scope for more). Thanks, Quasihuman | Talk 11:34, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

G11 and db-multiple

Thanks for patrolling new pages - a tedious but essential job! A couple of comments on Fides Mediador de Seguros, Lda and its companion, which you tagged db-multiple with A7 and G11:

  • G11 is only for "Pages that are exclusively promotional, and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic. Note: An article about a company or a product which describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for this criterion." This was a quite neutral description of the company, without any advertising hype. No doubt the intent of listing it was promotional, but that's not what G11 is about.
  • I don't myself much like "db-multiple", because it doesn't give the article author as much information - it just says "see the page", which has probably gone. If there is one definite criterion which applies, I think it better to use that. If both A7 and G11 apply, better to use A7, otherwise the article author my think all will be well if he just removes a few adjectives.

Keep up the good work! Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:38, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your detailed explanation. No more G11 if it's apparently intended but not demonstrated.--Ben Ben (talk) 11:58, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Good. Btw, I've just zapped Allied Insurance Brokers Angola which claimed to be: "known for it's strong insurance expertice, high levels of service orientation, and depth of linguistic capabilities" - that was a valid G11, though A7 also applied. JohnCD (talk) 12:05, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
I'd noticed in your first message that you didn't mention this one.--Ben Ben (talk) 12:18, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi Ben. Just a note that I removed your PROD on this article - I agree with your reasoning, but given that the article was previously deleted via AfD, a G4 tag is more appropriate. Cheers, Yunshui  19:53, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

--Neogeolegend (talk) 16:53, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Definitely not. Search for the German word Fallschirm on the sources site. It's German for parachute, see [5]. The reason for the confusion is, that in WWII the German paratroopers were part of the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) rather than the Heer (German Army)[6]. His unit is given with Fallschirm-Pionier-Bataillon 1, that translates into Parachute-Engineer-Bataillion 1 => Pilots don't dig in the ground. Actually his ranks have been translated wrongly into that of flying staff, see Major and Squadron leader.--Ben Ben (talk) 18:57, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Ben Ben,

The page I created titled Lady Celeste Luminary has been deleted because it was considered a hoax. The page depicts the history and illustrates a biography of a "real life" character known as Lady Celeste Luminary played by Julian Lovick (myself). Links to her youtube videos, and theatrical listing on websites and editorials, are both true and real, documentations for who "she" is. Whilst the information on the page had been swiftly uploaded, it was in the process of being edited to clarify this, as well as make the page more 'wikified.' I ask that you can work with me in reinstating the page, and the page will clearly state that she is a "character". It is not at all dissimilar to your pages on Australian character's including "Pam Ann" and "Dame Edna Everage". Thank you for understanding.(Julianlovick (talk) 22:04, 10 June 2012 (UTC))

Hi, please be careful when "fixing" apparently-incorrect beginnings of templates - in this case the two opening braces were intentionally not placed together, so that they showed up as braces on the page. By moving them together, you broke the page. Regarding Speedy Deletion of page Paul Vieira

Today, you placed a speedy deletion tag on the page Paul Vieira. You seem particularly insistent on the act, so I am inquiring into your reasons.

This page was only up for ten minutes, and then you put up the tag. Upon further examination, it seems our page needed more credibility to be deemed important enough for a Wikipedia article. The page was still a work in progress, again, only ten minutes old, so the lack of information should be excusable. As such, I removed the tag. Seeing as I am not the page creator, this was a perfectly "legal" act.

I ask that you kindly refrain from spamming your deletion tag on our page for a short time as it is being developed. There are other pages that have been existing for a longer time than ours, and of a similar length and credibility, on Wikipedia. LegendTriforce (talk) 23:41, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

I have been trying to update wikipedia with legit information for Voip Providers in Costa Rica all week. I had posts up from prior listings that have now also been removed. All info is correct and properly placed, yet I'm getting notifications of spamming? I guarantee that my info is correct as I am the President of the company Crexpedio.com S.A. who is introducing Voip to Costa Rica. There is no wrongful content, no spamming or over indexing, it's just information being placed in the right categories for people to find the correct providers.

Hi! Why did you revert the edit with the population data for Cossack, Western Australia? Yes, people still live there as the census says, even though most of it is ghost town. Kerry (talk) 17:21, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi, i'm not sure if the definition in the census as Cossack (State Suburb) is the same as used in the article for the historic ghost town. Suburb of Wickham? Checked it with Google Maps, it shows a few houses that looks like people live there, but not enough for 236 people. It seems, for the census people, the complete area east of Wickham ist the suburb of Cossack. Any thoughts? --Ben Ben (talk) 17:49, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
2006 Census QuickStats : Cossack (State Suburb): Occupied private dwellings 28 --Ben Ben (talk) 18:32, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
Agree that there probably can't be 300 folks living in Cossack itself, but could be in the surrounding area as you suggest. Certainly Wickham isn't being included in that count as a lot more than 300 people live there. (those comments are based on having been to Cossack and Wickham a couple of years back. Wickham is a mining company town (rio tinto from memory) so it is possible that there is or was a mining camp of dongas within the Cossack "suburb" which might boost the population and there might be vessels offshore (mining or fishing) that might be counted? Or an indigenous community nearby? But I think the issue comes back to sources. The census says that many people live there so I think the edit was "good quality" in that sense and should not have been reverted (not my edit for the record - I just watch that page). Is a compromise position to reinstate the edit and make it say "Cossack and surrounds" or similar words to reflect what you and I clearly suspect to be the truth of the actual population of the town being lower than the census count. Kerry (talk) 23:54, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
Could agree to your suggestion mining camp. 2006 Census QuickStats: Cossack would match to a mixed population of local people and external mining workers, but not to a average population:
Males 193 81.8% => not average, even for WA
Females 43 18.2% => not average, even for WA

Total families 15 => 236/15 = 16 members per family =>  not average

Occupied private dwellings 28 => 236/28 = 8 persons per household => not average

Speedy tag

Hi there. Just want to let you know that I declined your A7 nomination of Viktoriya Tigipko, as I don't really feel comfortable about deleting such a lengthy article. There are some claims to importance. I still think an AfD may be appropriate, however. Basalisk inspect damageberate 18:15, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

I made that page simply to put a little bit of information down and used a band page for a template to create the page, I understand now that apparently it's only huge bands who seem to warrant a wikipedia page however basic, will speedy deletion happen immediately? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Randomadder22 (talkcontribs) 13:14, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Your use of WPCleaner on this article remove necessary closing braces for the reflist. Evidently it doesn't always count braces properly, or uses some other method to flag orphan braces. I have restored the article. Don Lammers (talk) 13:39, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Aire Athletic F.C. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. The article is still a work in progress, hence the reason we have still not had time to add more info to the article. There are hundreds of pages regarding football teams on Wikipedia. Many of these are in lower divisions than ourselves. Every football league team in the top 9 divisions of the football Pyramid, why not us? Just because the article may "not indicate how important or significant it is" to you, is important and significant to the paying fans, local residents, players, officials and everyone affiliated with the football club. Do not abuse your "power". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pposters12345 (talkcontribs) 12:23, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi User:AireAthletic, did JamesBWatson explain it to you not well enough [7]? Or Peridion on your talk page? Speedy Deletion of RDGLDGRN band page

Earlier this month I created a page for the band RDGLDGRN which has recently released their first EP with legendary drummer Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) and received widespread recognition in the media (Rolling Stone, Diffuser.fm, MTV etc) for their music. Their EP debuted at #91 in the American iTunes album charts. Furthermore they are playing the well-known international Vans Warped Tour. I believe that these facts satisfy three requirements of the notability in music page:

  • Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart.
  • Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself.
  • Has received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country.

I would like to have the article in my sandbox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Mariabeegold/RDGLDGRN) made into the official RDGLDGRN wikipedia page as I believe that I have satisfied the requirement of proving their notability. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks! Mariabeegold (talk) 19:04, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Looks like it was reviewed in the Page Curation Log by Lgcsmasamiya earlier today so I think the page satisfies the notability. Thanks! Mariabeegold (talk) 22:57, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of International Metaphysical University

Educational institutions (even sketchy ones such as this) are not eligible for speedy deletion under WP:CSD#A7. I've never been a big fan of that exception, but I don't see a lot of momentum in the community to remove it. I'd recommend taking to AFD. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:49, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello Dan, you are right and you are wrong, sorry. Educational institutions aren't eligible for a CSD, that's right. This one does not have a Educational accreditation. As long as, they are a private business. Which is definitely eligible for CSD#A7, for lacking of reliable third party sources that could prove their notability. --Ben Ben (talk) 21:09, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Actually, the criterion makes no distinction of whether the institution is accredited or not. The related discussion did consider adding that caveat, but no resolution was achieved. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:22, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
How could it be an Institution of education, if it is not accredited? Private businesses are Institutions only for fiscal authorities. --Ben Ben (talk) 21:33, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Sorry for the sloopy answer, but it's near midnight where I live. Will read the discussion from 2008 tomorrow. --Ben Ben (talk) 21:37, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
I wouldn't care to rule on this point - so I've taken it to AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/International Metaphysical University. Peridon (talk) 22:45, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

The page was created for the purposes of company's participation in the projects financed from public money by the European Union. The company took part in a pan european project of Smart Grids and now enters the phase of evaluation by people, companies and state bodies. dab_use_disambig

Hi, I saw you tried to edit WPCleaner configuration for dab_use_disambig parameter with a message for me in your edit summary.

The value for it should be true or false, depending on whether disambiguation pages on enwiki have the "disambiguation" property set or not (through the __DISAMBIG__ magic word). If this property is set, it's better to not configure dab_use_disambig (WPCleaner will use the property when I've managed to release the next version). If it's not set, then it should be configured to false.

--NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 15:17, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the quick answer. I'm not an expert in DAB, have only seen your message when I started WPCleaner today (after a few weeks of not using it). --Ben Ben (talk) 15:27, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
Ok, I've changed the configuration assuming the Disambiguator extension has been fully setup on enwiki. If you think the message is not clear enough, do you have a suggestion ? --NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 16:31, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
Hm..., you want a suggestion from a layperson? O.K., you asked - please don't laugh:
  • You can check if __DISAMBIG__ is used on your wiki with typing in Special:Version in your search field. In the version page, search for Disambiguator.
  • If __DISAMBIG__ is not used on your wiki, you should add dab_use_disambig=false END to your WikiCleanerConfiguration.
should be clearer for common people like me. Did I get it right, if the magic word is used, no parameter is required? --Ben Ben (talk) 17:07, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks a lot ! Yes, if the magic word is used, there's no need to do anything.
Checking is a bit more complex than just checking if the extension is set up, is the following message clear ?
An action may be required on your wiki before this release:
  • You can check if __DISAMBIG__ is used on your wiki by opening an existing disambiguation page. Then, click on "Page information" in the menu on the left. Finally, search for __DISAMBIG__ in the information page.
  • If __DISAMBIG__ is not used on your wiki, you should add dab_use_disambig=false END to your wiki WikiCleanerConfiguration.
--NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 21:46, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi, I would add like Smith to by opening an existing disambiguation page. I'm quite sure this is a DAB page or has a DAB template on top in every wiki. Additionally, you have to link WikiCleanerConfiguration. Would work for me. --Ben Ben (talk) 22:33, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks ! I've released the new version of WPCleaner which uses __DISAMBIG__, so I've changed a little the message. Should speed up loading pages for full analysis :-) --NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 18:46, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello! I can't be on Wikipedia all the time, so sometimes it takes me a while to respond to comments, but I just happened to notice that you left a comment that some might take as a personal attack. You imply that I was "cheating" at some point. [personal information redacted] Should I have had to explain all that though? I wish you would have just WP:AGF, raising your concerns politely on my talk page rather than boldly flinging accusations. I am not chef at the restaurant, or in some other way part of a nefarious conspiracy to defraud you - I just saw a need and worked hard to fill it with this article. I will accept the outcome of the AfD, but I hope you will redact your unpleasant comment. Take care, —John Stenson 22:41, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Also, as to the content, there were three reliable sources in the article when I posted it. More are coming, but it has been less than a day since you quickly posted an AfD. I think I have a good understanding of the notability requirements, but if I am wrong then that is not a problem. Either way, try to imagine if I were a new editor, how your strong language might inadvertently cause me to stop working on Wikipedia totally. I know you are trying to prevent "spam", but we have to be pleasant and helpful as well. —John Stenson 22:43, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Response to MasterPlan (Christian Band) tag for speedy deletion

Buddy - saw that you had filed MasterPlan (Christian Band) for deletion. There are very few Catholic Christian Bands in the world and it is important the existence of the Band is public knowledge. MasterPlan has many firsts to its credit. Apart from World Youth Day Rio 2013, (which was attended by over 3.5 million people), MasterPlan also hails from Dubai - which is quite an odd place for a Christian Band to exist (Dubai is intrinsically an Islamic Land, and there is restricted Religious Freedom). Social Media and online presence is how the word gets around. MasterPlan is commissioned for touring Middle East and Europe next year, and proposal is underway to perform at Jerusalem as well. MasterPlan belongs to the St Mary's Church parish - which is the largest Catholic Parish in the world. Requesting you to withdraw your tag. Thanks.

PS: On the subject talk page, I have included many news articles to MasterPlan. Please have a look.

Sorry for the following template, but I declined your speedy deletion

Proposed deletion of Solomon's Temple BBS

The article Solomon's Temple BBS has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Speedy deletion declined, but this article does not give any inkling why this particular BBS is notable, and the New York Times reference does not mention this. Creator has 7 days to fix the issues tagged.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. • Yeah, it's not much, but it's something. Thanks FreeRangeFrog. Ben, I tried to make something out of it but couldn't do much. I don't think they are planning to tour Germany soon. That NH-Pop live thing, I'll write that up one of these days. It's a pretty serious competition, with live shows, tours, etc, for five selected bands. But it is regional (North Holland, not the whole country), so I'll stay on the safe side and say that merely participating is probably not enough for notability; even winning it may not be. We'll see. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 13:43, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Hello, you did a good job in deleting the advertising from the label and adding references in Nederlands (can't read it, I'm from the south). Yes, this 'local character' of the band and the appearance that it was written by a member of the band or a friend had led me decide to tag the article. And :), the fact that someone or something is unknown in Germany is never my base for a decision when I'm on en.wiki. I'm a grown up, even if my level of English may give you the impression that I'm probably a school boy. --Ben Ben (talk) 14:08, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Sorry--don't know what gave you the impression that I thought of you as a schoolboy. Drmies (talk) 19:18, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: BOSM (festival)

Hello Ben Ben. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of BOSM (festival), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 01:52, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Suiside Inferno/This page has been protected from creation only admins have permission to create this page.

Greetings, I have endlessly created Suiside Inferno rapper page and it kept getting deleted bcuz I didn't have my resources coded correctly so when that an Admin clicks on the link in goes to a blank page or a page that has nothing to do with Suiside Inferno. Long story short I have read and understand how to code my resources but I can't access the page bcuz it can't be created unless an Admin unlock it. Please help me unlock Suiside Inferno so I can provide the information needed so it can be an (Article) again... Made up vs hoax

Referring to Tossing The Beef, that was a definite hoax, not a made-up. There is a difference, which is why made-up was brought in. Made-up is for things that could well be real, but no-one outside the little group of friends that made it up knows or cares about it. Examples are drinking games invented last night (and usually resembling Beer Pong), a new word that 'everyone' at Joseph P. Bloggs High is using (although why is not easy to understand), or even a new method of trisecting angles (invented by someone in third grade). AGF comes in. These things might well exist. They will never become famous (for a value of never equal to 99.99% certain). Now, spraying minced beef around a house is not something to AGF on. It's total bollocks. It's a clear attempt to put junk onto Wikipedia to try to discredit the encyclopaedia, or at best to sit and snigger about. Hoax, in other words. Both classes get deleted, but it helps the admins looking back if they see hoaxes in the record to assess the user quickly and block sooner rather than later. BTW New (junk) religions are a borderline case here. They could be either - but are best treated as hoax. Peridon (talk) 23:27, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Hello Peridion, thank's for your detailed explanation. --Ben Ben (talk) 14:42, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for removing the stray {{sfn| with this edit 13 December 2014. However your alteration of

  • {{citation |last=Esdaile |first=Charles| year=2003a

to

  • {{citation |last=Esdaile |first=Charles| year=2003

was not helpful. The alpha character is used to separate out two or more publication in the same year (Please see: Help:Shortened footnotes#Date). In this case:

  1. Esdaile, Charles (2003a) [2002], The Peninsular War, Penguin Books, ISBN 0-14-027370-0
  2. Esdaile, Charles (2003), The Peninsular War: A New History, New York: Palgrave Macmillan, ISBN 1403962316

This is necessary beacause the pagination between the two editions my not be the same. In altering the "year=2003a" to "year=2003" you have broken the the link in the {{harv}} template in footnote 24 that relied on the year being set to "2003a" in the long citation. Will you revert that part of your edit, or would you like me to do it? -- PBS (talk) 19:39, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Just do it. --Ben Ben (talk) 23:37, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Honorifics in lists of politicians

Hi Ben Ben. Since you've edited one or more of List of current members of the British Privy Council, British Government frontbench and Official Opposition frontbench in the last six months, I'd like to invite you to a discussion about the use of honorifics in those lists. The discussion is happening here, and I look forward to a helpful and robust discussion. DBD 21:05, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

i was simply exposing the truth and nothing but the truth. i urge you to look at the documentaries of corey feldman talking about how his abuse/molestation/rape had gotten worse during the making of the lost boy. he had also exposed what had happend to corey haim, his bestfriend and also stared in the lost bosy — Preceding unsigned comment added by Loveheart bae (talkcontribs) 06:20, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

It's easy. If you can stand up as a witness about this go to a court - not to wikipedia. Otherwise it is WP:LIBEL. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a court. -- Ben Ben (talk) 06:42, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
