Kim Min-seok (born March 26, 1990), better known by his stage name Xiumin (pinyin: Xiùmín), is a South Korean singer active in the Chinese music industry. He is currently a member of the Mandopop group EXO-M, a subgroup of the Chinese-South Korean boy band EXO. He's Super Power (Badge): Frost (Ice)

Biography

Xiumin was born Kim Min-seok on March 26, 1990 in South Korea. He was cast into S.M. Entertainment in 2008 after wining the S.M. Everysing Contest, winning second place. Xiumin moved into dormitories with other S.M. trainees, and was trained in areas of singing, dancing, acting, and language. In 2011, Xiumin was cast into EXO and was put into the group's Mandopop subgroup, EXO-M.

In December 2011, S.M. Entertainment began introducing the twelve members of EXO through a series of teaser trailers that were being sporadically released from December 2011 to February 2012. Xiumin was introduced on January 26, 2012.[1]

EXO released their first "prologue" single "What Is Love", on January 30.[2] The group released their second "prologue" single "History" on March 9.[3] They held their first pre-debut showcase in Seoul's Olympic Stadium on March 31, 2012, one hundred days after EXO debuted their first trailer on December 21, 2011.[4] Approximately 3,000 fans from 8,000 applicants were selected to attend the showcase.[5] The group held their second showcase and first press conference in the Great Hall of the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China on April 1.[6]

The group's official debut single "Mama" was released on April 8,[7] followed by an EP, Mama, on April 9.[8][9] On April 8, EXO-M made their debut performance in China at the 12th Yinyue Fengyun Bang Awards, performing "Mama.'[10]
